JBD/Overkill/Xiao - Advice on battery settings

Hi lovely crew, I have just bought myself a JBD to replace the pain that is the DALY situation. Finally I'm getting more feedback from my battery setup. I want to make sure I allocate the settings correctly. I can already observe that the total battery capacity is too high. What do I change...

Renogy charge controller jumps up to 14V then down to 12V randomly with warning flash

Thanks for clarifying, I will check the renogy settings for your perspective. I set the parameters according to the manual when I first installed this. Will review it when I'm next at my van and give you photos and references to the manual. Gobsmacked is astounded and surprised, shocked: so...

Renogy charge controller jumps up to 14V then down to 12V randomly with warning flash

I have. Daly have completed an update though and it is impossible for me to now access the settings for some unkown reason. Thus why I am asking if it is an issue with the BMS and how I might trouble shoot it. Just telling me to 'change the parameters' does not help without specifying which and...

Renogy charge controller jumps up to 14V then down to 12V randomly with warning flash

Where do I set the charging voltage? In the BMS settings? I can already charge with a benchtop power supply at 14V

Renogy charge controller jumps up to 14V then down to 12V randomly with warning flash

They are in range. I measured all of the cells and they are just above 3.3V. I can charge my battery with a benchtop power supply perfectly fine without this happening, so let me know what you think.

Renogy charge controller jumps up to 14V then down to 12V randomly with warning flash

Yes. This was set up when I first got them about two years ago.

Renogy charge controller jumps up to 14V then down to 12V randomly with warning flash

HVC? Not sure what would be causing this. Could you elaborate? The inverter is not not turned on- it's occuring when the inverter is on or off.

Renogy charge controller jumps up to 14V then down to 12V randomly with warning flash

Inverter is connected to the battery. Ive just tested turning on the inverter at the same time. The Inverter does not shutdown when this happens.

Renogy charge controller jumps up to 14V then down to 12V randomly with warning flash

Hey all, It seems my batteries have not been charged by the solar panels. I am getting the below experience, where the voltage starts climbing every 30 seconds or so, jumping rapidly from 12.4 to 14 and then back down again. The triangle exclamation point pops up too at 13V or so. Does anyone...

Daly 'Losing my mind' battery dysfunctional system

What is going on with my Daly BMS? My battery keeps switching off randomly, I'm unsure if my charge controller is even working with the lithium charge any more, and I can't access ANY settings, via bluetooth, or via PC over USB. I am going freaking insane. My suspicion is that the battery is not...

Fuses not on terminal/inline fuse/ fuse after wire

Hey all. Nearing completion of the install for my van I just want some feedback about this connection I have from my main battery busbar to the 50A fuse holder for my charge controller. Im using a small 8awg wire as you can see in the photos (small red wire top right) I wanted to ideally have...

    Workshop installation - 2KW solar, MPP LV2424

Do you have a photo of your upper part of that lifepo4 box? Is the wood just resting on the terminals? I would like to build something similar as my batteries are in a bottom enclosure similar to yours.

DIY copper bus bar mounted on wood

Bump to all this. Since Australia is the worst stockist of anything specific to these needs... Could I simply add some thick enough perspex between the wood and DIY copper busbar? A lot of the busbars seem to use ABS Plastic. Could I buy a thick sheet of this and cut it out around the bus bar...

DIY copper bus bar mounted on wood

Would the cause of this be that the cable is large enough to carry too high of an amperage and likely no fuse on the opposite end of the burnt cable? The surface area of the nut cannot handle it? In my situation, my cables from the battery are 0awg, a 250A fuse directly on the positive of the...

DIY copper bus bar mounted on wood

Based on the measurements, the busbars are 1/8” x 1”. Using the ampacity chart, the maximum amps able to be run is 270A. The maximum draw of my system will not exceed 200A (inverter wont exceed 160A and the bms is 200A)

DIY copper bus bar mounted on wood

What could I use as a safe insulator between the busbar and wooden surface? Ive seen these bolt connector things that appear to have some black plastic surface. See image below from other poster on this forum Could I diy cut some plexiglass/acrylic plastic?

Just bought 12ft 1/4 x3 copper bus bar ! Am I set for Bus bar for life ?

Hi what are the things connecting the bar to the wood? I want to do this but am assuming its unsafe to drill the bus bars directly to the wood.

DIY copper bus bar mounted on wood

Hi there! I have some left over copper that I want to use as a bus connecting my positive from my 12V battery and negative from the BMS to distribute to my 2000W inverter and 40A charge controller. Im wondering if it is acceptable to support these copper bars by screwing them into the wood...

Very minor difference in busbar size between lifepo4 cells

I had to create 3x busbars with a different thickness to the ones that came with my EVE lifepo4 cells. The main reason was to successfully connect one pair of the parallel cells in series successfully as illustrated in the photos. The new busbars are 1/8" thick, unsure of the size of the...

DIY 12V Lithium Connection double check

Hey all, I'm connecting 8 lithium 3.2V 272aH cells in the below configuration. I am just double checking that this arrangement is accurate. Im just about to cut my own busbars so wanted to make sure this is accurate before connecting them together.

hi we are looking for settings for the daly BMS app. your answer does not apply to the questions the first sentence: "I have a Daly bms, but the manuals don’t explain the settings and exactly what they do / affect" if anyone can assist it will be a great aid. I am surprised that despite the...

    BMS Sizing, BMS Amps

I couldnt possibly answer this question as I still did not feel confident in the answers provided in this thread. Off the top off my head, amps of BMS indicates max draw at any one time, but it had to be even less than that according to one of the posters. Im confused >< I wish there was one big...

    Charging with benchtop in series

Thanks Zwy. 1. Yes 2. No, but I may do this. What is the method for cleaning the busbars? 3. No. 4. I haven't run the pack to pull it down to 2.5V 5. I am attempting to charge at 3.6V as that's what I've seen recommened. This is the first time I have had people suggest the cells only need to...

    Charging with benchtop in series

Not sure how you came to the conclusion that my cell is at 3.650V? They are all roughly 3.4V with the multimeter, as reflected accurately in the BMS app. DMM reads 3.4V when I last checked and was charging. I think I outlined all of this information in the opening post but maybe I'm wrong. OK...

    Charging with benchtop in series

    Charging with benchtop in series

As already stated, the bms is turning off charging. The chg mos light turns on and off The reason Im doubtful that its the connections is that the clamp meter matches the amps of the PSU further, the connections charge fine up to a certain point and then the chg mos does this turning on and off...
