    EG4 6000XP Neutral-Ground Bonding

Any grounding busbar should be at zero voltage potential. If during their testing they found an issue (such as voltage on the chassis), they should have been looking for a parallel path. The purpose of the grounding system is to provide a low impedance path back to source. This enables clearing...

X4 lv6548 in 120/240 can I still charge off of 120 volt input?

No, I was reading past posts and then realized why it won't work. Both units will be in bypass or inverting at any time. Which makes sense with the shared neutral.

    the rapidly changing inverter landscape

I've always read 2.5 running watts or amps. I do know my well pump will spike for about 2ms at 4.5 running amps but there is some head there. I used a scope with an amps probe to see the spike. I was concerned the LV6548's might not be able to power it before I had everything installed. But it...

X4 lv6548 in 120/240 can I still charge off of 120 volt input?

Nope, unit must be in bypass to charge a battery with grid power. So both would have to be in bypass from my understanding. Chargeverter is really the best solution.

X4 lv6548 in 120/240 can I still charge off of 120 volt input?

I'm not sure, after all these are just a pair of 120V inverters, each with it's own neutral and simply a comm cable to keep the phasing at 180°. Whether one could have one inverter set to charge from grid only and the other from solar might be questionable.

X4 lv6548 in 120/240 can I still charge off of 120 volt input?

Possible maybe. I'm not trying it though. :)

Wondering why're many people still building 12/24v system ?

Go grab one of the ignition wires from your car while it is running and see if it feels the same. :ROFLMAO: 12V won't jump the gap for electronic ignition, it needs a secondary circuit to up the volts.

Wondering why're many people still building 12/24v system ?

Light bulbs at higher voltages driving down the road would fail fairly quickly. Now with LED, might not be as large of a problem. The second reason given was rain/ice/snow. A wire run at 12V submerged in saltwater can function a long time, with higher voltages like 36V it will fail much...

Wondering why're many people still building 12/24v system ?

Charging from alternators much easier with 24V than 48V in my opinion. Then when converting back down to 12V such as lighting circuits in a RV/Camper/Trailer.

X4 lv6548 in 120/240 can I still charge off of 120 volt input?

These still take about 75W each from my experience. If you already have them, use them. But I would keep the extra 2 for spares. Unless you're running a very large load like a 30 hp motor which you still might not get started.......... Before I'd use those extra 2 for charging, I'd add more...

X4 lv6548 in 120/240 can I still charge off of 120 volt input?

LV6548V has reported idle consumption of 130W per unit. Times 4 = 520W Over 24 hours is 12.48 Kwh. I guess if you have a 25 Kw array it would take a little over half an hour at peak sun with STC to make that up. Just remember, it will take 6 Kwh of battery to run the inverters at idle...

What was your most interesting recent non solar project?

Plan to upgrade all of that when you do whole house solar. Not that hard. Can't do it from outside with brick usually, most are veneer or cavity. https://abbotbuilding.com/brick-wall-types-brick-repair-massachusetts/ There is a space behind the brick to the rest of the structure. This allows...

Solar assistant: do you use it?

I just use a Smart Shunt connected to SA for charge/discharge. One of the few blue things I use. Cell delta I can read on the Batrium but if cells are well balanced you really don't need to look at cell delta very often.

What was your most interesting recent non solar project?

I blew cellulose in my old house and a rental that I still own. Both had plaster walls with backplaster that was in good shape. My old house just had cedar siding so I pulled the nails out of the siding every 5 feet and blew in from the outside. The rental was done on the inside, simply used a...

What was your most interesting recent non solar project?

You can always do one side at a time. It took 3 years to side my whole 1905 house. It had aluminum from the late 70's on it plus the original cedar. Today if I was to do it again, I'd put at least 1" ZIP panels on the outside and tape all the seams. No housewrap needed and I gain the R value...

What was your most interesting recent non solar project?

They build there without house wrap? I see they used fan fold but it doesn't cover the whole wall? The fan fold at a minimum should have been run on the outside of the top window flange, not behind it. A friend of mine had someone side his house and he installed fan fold instead of house wrap...

Limitation to AC coupling with EG4 18K, help required...

"EG4 just told me (and thanks for them for being honest) that in that case the system can not use the 200 amp pass through when ac coupled and then you are always limited to....12 kwh output of the 18K....and that you can not export to the grid as well because "The 18K has a 2 poles internal...

Limitation to AC coupling with EG4 18K, help required...

The 18Kpv shifts frequency to reduce power from the AC coupled inverters only when grid is off. However, when grid is on, grid controls the frequency and thus the 18Kpv can only reduce power from AC coupling by turning off the relay in the generator port. @FilterGuy explains it in this post.

Yes, that appears to be the limiting factor.

Limitation to AC coupling with EG4 18K, help required...

Not what the issue is. Power is limited to 12Kw when AC coupled to the gen port. The reason? A relay is present on the gen port to cut power from the AC coupled GT array as frequency shift isn't fast enough. The relay is limited to 12Kw. That is how I see it. And Hedges explained it here.

    New EG4 Chargeverter V2

I've thought about this for some time, still not convinced I need one. We can go 5 days on battery alone now and adding another 14Kwh soon. If things get really bad (grid down and battery bank depleted), I still have my camper system to power the furnace in the house. Or I could use one of the...

December PV starting off crappy again.

If you are going geothermal then I would look into heating your water with the geothermal heat pump. More efficient. 4500W heating element so 18A per leg. Uses 240V for compressor, about 150W per leg, I just checked. Good question, don't know. I looked at compressor size and did not see any...

    MPP Solar LV6548 + 6 x 545W Canadian Solar panels

58Kwh DIY, but adding another 14Kwh soon using a Luyuan box. If you look at my signature at the bottom of my post, you will see the blue links to threads of my system. We can go 5 days without limited sun in winter by cutting any unnecessary usage, thus the reason for the extra 14Kwh so we can...

    Mounting/moving heavy wall-mounted batteries

Things move pretty easy on rollers. He had a 2x10 plank but we had to lay some cement blocks under it to hold the weight as it moved up. Once we had it in the bed, we just layed short pieces of board down and one guy could push while the other moved the rollers back to the front.

    Mounting/moving heavy wall-mounted batteries

Use pieces of pipe under the batteries that are laying flat and push/pull up a ramp. I went out to West Virginia a short time ago to purchase a gasification wood boiler. His loader couldn't lift it, he used a forklift from work when he installed it. He was retired now so no forklift. A ramp...

    Easement removal?

Usually with improvements and adding fencing around the property along with the "notorious" claim for 10 years, adverse possession usually wins in this state. Easement removal?

Several ways to do it, adverse possession is one of the easiest if the utility has not maintained the easement for 10 years (at least in IA). Read here for other ways it can be done. https://chambers.com/articles/setting-the-law-straight-on-terminating-easements In Iowa, if a pipeline is...

December PV starting off crappy again.

The heat pump water heaters that are AIO are somewhat noisy (around 60 db) so in your case it might not work for you. As for the sealed compartment, they now offer venting kits. I've read some cases where people had the inlet piped close to a refrigerator for example, and the outlet piped to...
