    Sol-Ark 12K and EG4LL battery communications

Also interested in closed loop communication between EG4 and Sol-Ark. Could someone point me to the upgrade guide? I missed the memo on that. I assume it was something released from Signature Solar? I find no reference to EG4 on Sol-Ark's site or documentation.

    New EG4-LL Battery Communication issue

The lack of manual and clear setup instructions is a big disappointment. Signature solar needs to get a tutorial set up to help their customers through this crap. Also need to support older models as settings for dip switches have apparently changed.

Sol ark battery settings for EG4 Gyl batteries

I don't believe there is a setting for bulk voltage for the sol-ark. I only have absorption, float, and equalization options?

Sol ark battery settings for EG4 Gyl batteries

Thanks all for the comments. Curious to know smoothJoey's thoughts on why he wouldn't go above 53.6V on float. Is that because Lifepo4s don't like to stay at 100%? To smoothJoey's comment about how the Sol-Ark terminates the absorption phase, this except from the PV PowerView Settings guide...

    Heater for lithium batteries

I was going to try the Vivosun seedling mat. Used to start garden seeds, it comes with thermostat that can be set from 40 to 105 F. If it doesn’t work out I can always use for my garden. :)

Sol ark battery settings for EG4 Gyl batteries

Any suggestions on what voltages I should use for the battery settings on my new Sol-Ark setup? I am running 2 - 100ah 48 EG4 batteries in parallel for battery backup. I have heard that you extend the life of your lifepo4 battery by not always charging back up to 100% The spec sheet for the...

    LIFEPO4 battery installation safety protocols

Do you know what the recommended torque requirements are for battery cable to main bus bar connections?

Solark owners - how did you succeed to get a permit without grid-tie agreement?

Wow. Glad I don't live in CA. A building permit just to add a circuit? Seems heavy handed.

Go Solar Assistant - ver 11-2-21- support for Gyll-EG4 Battery + MORE

No and no, so maybe not the best idea for zero2 then.

Go Solar Assistant - ver 11-2-21- support for Gyll-EG4 Battery + MORE

I heard the new Pi Zero 2 is essentially same computing power as Pi3 in zero form factor.

Go Solar Assistant - ver 11-2-21- support for Gyll-EG4 Battery + MORE

This seems promising. Anyone get this to work with a Sol-Ark?

Did anyone else run out and buy a 48V EG4 battery after watching Wills Video?

I’ve placed many orders through Signature Solar. Always did right by me. I wouldn’t worry about it.

Did anyone else run out and buy a 48V EG4 battery after watching Wills Video?

RayfromTX, Can you speak to the problems you were having with your BMS?

Did anyone else run out and buy a 48V EG4 battery after watching Wills Video?

I had already preordered prior to Wills video. If they weren’t sold out already I expect they will shortly. Last batch came in through the port of Houston, so maybe they can avoid the delays experienced in LA.

    pv dc disconnect

Thanks! It appears the Sol-Ark’s pv dc disconnect only isolates the inverter from the pv inputs, so if I needed to move, isolate, or reconfigure mppt inputs this could not be done safely without an additional dc disconnect between panels and inverter, yes?

    pv dc disconnect

Quick question here: I'm getting my solar ready to install and was wondering about dc disconnects. I will have two different arrays installed on the roof. 1 string of 8 in series of 305W panels (Voc of 40V) and another string of 6 in series 305W panels (also each at Voc of 40V). I have a...

    New EG4-LL Battery Communication issue

I don't see your terminals hooked up to the busbar. Would you not need to parallel the batteries first?

    electrical help please

Going back to the sol-ark discussion, I did have a follow up question: In the above case where the leads for Panel 2 come into a double pole 60A breaker, wouldn't this only power one leg of the panel? Wouldn't you need two single pole 60A breakers and install one on each leg?

    electrical help please

Thanks for the suggestions. Concerning item 4) above: I am a bit confused at what you mean as pass through from input to output. Since the neutrals have a bus on the transfer switch could that cause a neutral loop? My original plan was to run neutral and ground directly from Panel 1 to...

    electrical help please

Thanks FilterGuy. I actually plan to pull the breaker out for the electric dryer and move it over to Panel 1. Definitely not a critical load. :) If household energy goes over 200A what would happen? Main breaker trip?

    electrical help please

I'm in the process for planning out my DIY install. I have 400 amp service at my house. See below for a view of how the power enters my house. I have two 200 amp service lines coming in that terminate in a utility room inside the house with two breaker panels. Instead of creating a new...

Just wondering if anyone has noticed the amount of smoke in the air?

In Indiana last week the moon had a red haze associated with it, I’m guessing attributed to the smoke from the wildfires.

Help: Engineering Plans for Ground Mount Panels in NW Florida

You will probably need to hire a local Professional Civil Engineer registered in the State of FL to sign off on plans/calcs. It’s not a difficult calculation, so shouldn’t be too expensive but those folks’ billable hours aren’t cheap.

    CT clamps question

I think I see what you are saying, but I still would need to carve out a critical load panel. Doing it as I has described seems like an easier way for me to make everything work, but maybe I am missing something?

    CT clamps question

If I disconnect the leads for panel2, I essentially would now have 200 amp service with mains coming into panel1. Panel2 then becomes a critical load panel, so the CTs on panel1 can offset all loads in the house, correct?

    Disposal of dead solar batteries

I have some old FLA Surrette 6V 546 Ah batteries that have finally kicked the bucket. Anyone here have any suggestions of how to dispose or get salvage value out of them? Where do old solar batteries go when they die?

    CT clamps question

Yeah, sorry I had a typo. Meant to type 200 amp not 220. I'm in the US. I think I may end up solving the problem by transferring all of my large loads over to panel 1, disconnecting power leads to panel 2 (which has most of my outlets, fridge, and freezers), and using panel 2 as an essential...

Help with choosing an all in one system

I ended up going with the Sol-Ark 5k. It's a little more expensive, but customer service and a large user base made the difference for me. I don't think the growatt could offset loads not attached to the critical loads panel like the Sol-Ark can. Was briefly considering the Outback Skybox...

    CT clamps question

I have 400 amp service from the grid that comes into my house (two 220 breaker panels). If I want to operate a Sol-ark in Limited to Home mode where I grid zero using CT clamps, how would that work in my situation? Would I clamp to just one of the inputs to the 220 panel, and thus be limited...

Help please - hybrid inverter question

I am narrowing down my choices on a revamped solar power system. My goals are to grid zero/reduce monthly power bill and also have a battery backup for when power goes out. Our grid power the last few years has been pretty unreliable and goes out more often that it used to. Only looking to...
