Put your charge controller next to your batteries (or as close as possible.) Extend the wiring from your "down from the roof" solar prewire, to new controller location with 6 or 8 gauge to limit drop. Use the 20+ (40+ if series)volts of solar to go long distance to the battery, not 13 volts.
