280ah Battery Top and Bottom Support Design.

I ended up putting double stacked 1/8" aluminum flat stock and it is solid as a rock. I completely overbuilt this electrical system it never goes below 90%, but I have yet to run a laptop all day and watch TV at night, it's just a weekender out in colorado right now. I will post some...

    Rover 40a MPPT voltage mismatch

Every other meter and device I gave disagrees with the MPPT and agrees with the Klein though. But either way overcharging my li bank by 0.2v regularly that should be fine I suppose. I have a shunt BMS 2 meters and inverter all from different manufacturers reading 26.6...

    Rover 40a MPPT voltage mismatch

What's going on here? Is this defective? I have a shunt, bms, even a cheap voltage readout display all showing the exact same voltages and this is off by .2... I have no voltage drop all the way from the battery to the charge controller either.

Is something wrong with my mppt charge controller?

I had the same thought when I loaded mine up on the phone. Very counter-intuitive. The app is kind or worthless, to be honest.

3D-printing a Simple Battery Box for 4 x 280 Ah Cells - anyone done this?

heap64 did this for 24v 8s battery and it could be used to make a 12v as well. I printed one and made my own 24v battery, it's pretty slick

Have you had any issues with that longer bus bar heating up? I'm capacity testing right now and that bus bar is a few degrees above ambient and voltage is slightly low on those two cells I think due to resistance. My spacers are stainless steel washers stacked up. They cover the entire surface...

Exactly the same setup as OP. 24v 8 cells in series.

No there's a long bus bar that crosses over I just haven't cut it or drilled it yet. You can see it sitting there on the right. I am running my system 24 volt.

Finally got it put together. I waited for full assembly to start balancing charging and testing my cells because I didn't want them to expand uncompressed. Looks like I have a couple cells out of spec internal resistance. Going to try to get a partial refund and replace them later.

I am doing something similar. I haven I am doing something similar. I haven't put it together yet but I think the regular caps will clear.

the end plates for compression on this design does not have a ton of compression resistance, but you don't need a ton. If I had more time I would put aluminum flatstock across the whole thing on the outsides. You should link your build/design thread and post the files on thingverse as well.

Is it wide enough to do it laying down? You might be able to print them in 2 interlocking pieces but then I would want 8 allthread clamping per side

280ah Battery Top and Bottom Support Design.

So I messed up my copper bar sourcing. Not surprising as I ordered components to assemble before the printing was really under way fully. I ordered pre cut bars from Midwest steel and aluminum and did not account for additional length to cross over to the next rank of cells. The required minimum...

24v. I'm still reprinting some more pieces for the 2nd set after some print failures (ran out of filament halfway through a batch, and the older printer nozzle clogged and completely effed that printer so had to build up a new printer). The new printer still has some kinks so the top caps aren't...

PLA. PETG costs 1/3 to 1/4 more. This is strong as an ox and stiff as a board with PLA if you set your slicer up right.

Still printing a couple more pieces before I can do the full 8s build. Several printing issues as well as an entire printer failing put my filament cost over $150, but the result is looking promising.

    Just ordered Lifepo4 prismatic cell 3.2V 280Ah lithium lifepo4

Maybe I ordered mine wrong. I'll order harder next time ?

    Just ordered Lifepo4 prismatic cell 3.2V 280Ah lithium lifepo4

I was thinking of another video where he exclaims "I think these might be new cells!" but I believe it was not EVE/Lishen or even 280ah for that video. I apologize for the mixup.

    Just ordered Lifepo4 prismatic cell 3.2V 280Ah lithium lifepo4

I'm going to let the seller respond, then try Ali, then CC. My CC is pretty good about this kind of stuff so I'll probably win. I have decent documentation. I think my cells are going to end up usable either way.

    Just ordered Lifepo4 prismatic cell 3.2V 280Ah lithium lifepo4

I watched the video again, I think I got them mixed up with another video/source. Regardless, the cells they shipped him look brand new, mine are all scratched to crap. The aliexpress description definitely says "New and original". I am ok with some terminals scratches but these are effed up.

He said top balanced go watch the video and argue with him in the comments if you want my dude. I knew what he meant.

    Just ordered Lifepo4 prismatic cell 3.2V 280Ah lithium lifepo4

On Will's video where he links them as a supplier he indicated he was shipped new cells which were top balanced from the factory. I think they shipped him something different than the subsequent orders they sent out.

    Just ordered Lifepo4 prismatic cell 3.2V 280Ah lithium lifepo4

I am going with no, we'll see how they treat me on the partial refund. So far I am getting some "this is normal" type responses, which does not inspire confidence. They are claiming it was damaged in shipping already. The problem with this theory is the box I received the cells in is pristine...

    Just ordered Lifepo4 prismatic cell 3.2V 280Ah lithium lifepo4

I got 8 280ah Lishen from them and the physical quality is low. They are B grade at best maybe used. 3 of 8 cells bloated, various SOC, abrasion on the blue coating, 3 with dents, 1 with severe dent at the top. They're usable but they are advertised as new and original so I am attempting to...

New battery box for 280ah 4s 12v with lugs on eBay

I am printing top/bottom support housing from thingverse that another forum member created. They fit so far. Pretty excited for the final build.

First bottom support printed, fits like a glove stiff as a board.

To me it just doesn't look as nice, and the 110 custom cut flat stock are like $3 each. I am confident properly done copper tubing bus bars would work fine. I would even use the bus bars that came with my cells if they fit this housing but they are too short.

Looks good. Any suggestions on quality copper bar for this application? under a bed in a camper van avoids this :) My friend who is running this job for me on his printer is much more experienced with PLA, which is another reason I went with PLA. My second batch of cells arrive on Friday...

280ah Battery Top and Bottom Support Design.

From matterhackers.com: "PETG is hygroscopic, which means it will actively absorb moisture from the air. For this reason, PETG plastic should be stored in a cool, dry place, and dried if exposed to humid air for too long." I am no expert (I have literally never printed anything myself) but I...

Is there a reason why you would recommend PETG over PLA for this application? Unless there is a compelling reason why PLA will fail in this application, I am more concerned with sourcing bus bars at this point as the filament order was merely a contextual comment.

What are the recommended width and thickness bus bars for this box? I just ordered 4kg PLA to start on this.
