12vdc watt meter to monitor usage over time

TommySr - I wish I had a clue on how to use something like that. I need something MUCH simpler ... more plug and play than your suggestion but thank you!

12vdc watt meter to monitor usage over time

The kill a watt meter (but for dc, not ac) is what I'm looking for. Also in the price range of the kill a watt meter, not like some of the $300+ diagnostic tracking meters like I've seen.

12vdc watt meter to monitor usage over time

I want to measure our rv's 12vdc accessories, over time. The main one is the 12vdc compressor fridge. What's the simplest way add one between the fuse on the panel box and the accessory in the rv? It'd be simple to make a short little wire harness to adapt to the spade fuses. and, if needed, I...

How to know if you lost 120vac power

However, all of our outlets and appliances (outlets, TV, microwave, A/C, etc.) are live all the time because I wired them that way with the Mulitplus. So, plugging something into an outlet won't do anything for me because, if we lost 120vac to the rv, the batteries will take over and power that...

How to know if you lost 120vac power

The point of the small/single LED light is for it to be seen 100% of the time like an indicator light, not something that blares a loud sound so you can't sleep. I'm looking into Supervstech's idea with the relays. I just don't know anything about relays so I need to learn 1st.

How to know if you lost 120vac power

Yes, that is exactly what I'm looking for! However, since I'm not good at electronic crap, I don't know how to do it.

How to know if you lost 120vac power

I've thought of that but then when the light is out, it feels like it'd be an "out of sight out of mind" kind of thing. I'd rather the light be ON when we're running on battery. It may seem somewhat counter intuitive to some but not to me ... my brain may work differently than others too.

Thank you. I'll look into this. Would you mind if I send you some follow-up questions if needed?

How to know if you lost 120vac power

I don't want it to be an audible alarm as I want to see the LED light 100% of the time when we're drawing solely off of the batteries and an alarm would get tiresome. :) It may sound stupid to some but it's just a visual saying that I'm not charging the batteries.

How to know if you lost 120vac power

Could you please explain how to do this? I'm a great (ok, good) mechanic but I don't understand designing circuits, electronics and programming.

How to know if you lost 120vac power

Any chance you could explain this in detail? Keeping in mind that I'm a competent/capable mechanic but I don't know squat about electronics.

How to know if you lost 120vac power

All of the outlets are hot (energized) whether or not we're on battery or shore power so that wouldn't work for us.
  13. J

How to know if you lost 120vac power

Yes, that would be the easiest. However, to me when the light is OFF, I don't think I'd notice it (out of site, out of mind kinda thing).

How to know if you lost 120vac power

Through a now understood, and self inflicted, mistake, I tripped the breaker at the RV power pole but I didn't know it until we were going to bed and I happened to look at the VE Cerbo touch screen and saw we we're down to 31% SOC on the batteries. We have ... VE MultiPlus-II 12/3000/120-50 2 x...

    On/Off/Charger Only switch on MultiPlus-II

yes it is 120v charger. If I had it plugged into the camper the Multi would be suppling the 120v to the outlet so, the batteries would be trying to charge themselves. It'd be stupid to do this, so I won't, but it is possible. I realize this isn't an apples to apples comparison but I'm trying...

    On/Off/Charger Only switch on MultiPlus-II

I don't know if the Multiplus could but I do know the IP22 charger could and can. Example ... if the Multi is in the ON position (charging and inverting), unplugged from shore power and the IP22 is plugged in and turned ON, the IP22 will be charging the batteries using the batteries. So...

    On/Off/Charger Only switch on MultiPlus-II

MultiPlus-II 12/3000/120-50 2 x 120V switch setting in a camper/rv ... If the "On/Off/Charger Only switch" is set to "ON", which is inverting and charging, and we're not plugged into "shore" power (no incoming AC power), will the Multiplus try to charge the batteries using the batteries? Or, is...

AC L1 vs L2 watt draw

Ahhhhh ... I think I might understand it now. I didn't think about the fact that I'm using 2 adapters! One going from 50A to 30A (at the house) and another going back up to 50A (at the RV), even though I'm not trying to force 50A out of a 30A. I understand the 120V vs 240V at the panel and I've...

AC L1 vs L2 watt draw

Then how does a small 120VAC/2500W invertor generator (like the Honda's) work on a 50A RV?
  20. J

AC L1 vs L2 watt draw

Maybe I'm being dumb here but a 50 to 30 adapter combines L1 and L2 with a jumper (see attachment). Otherwise, how could you run everything on a camper when plugged into a generator or into a 20A or 30A power pole at some campgrounds? Now, obviously, you can't run everything at the same time...

AC L1 vs L2 watt draw

Yes, 50A house outlet, 50A RV and I'm using the 30A adapter and 30A cord because the 50A cord isn't long enough. Right now only charging the batteries and running the electric only rv fridge.

    Cerbo GX WiFi connection

Thank you ... I'll look into these suggestions.

    Cerbo GX WiFi connection

I installed a Cerbo GX (purchased Oct 2022) in our RV and I can't keep it connected to the house WiFi while the RV is parked in our driveway. In the house, we have a Nighthawk Dual Band Mesh WiFi 6 System, 2 pack (MK62) and one of the satellites is around 40-50ft from the Cerbo GX. I can get...

AC L1 vs L2 watt draw

I have: 50A RV with one air conditioner and we "power manage" (don't run the hairdryer when the A/C or micro are running, etc.) 50A RV outlet at the house (that we've used for several years and several campers, including this one). We use a "Conntek 14435 RV Power Cord, RV 30-Amp to 50 Amp...

How to prep/wake up 2 year old unused SOK batteries

I have 2 x 12v/100ah SOK batteries (without heaters or Bluetooth) that I got back in May 2021 to install in our camper. Life changed/fell apart and they've been sitting in the basement ever since. They have never been connected to anything and they're still in the shipping boxes as they arrived...

DC to DC charger basic questions

Thank you and yes, this is what I'm asking ... a very basic, simplistic view of what it's doing. I was thinking, and it appears I was correct, that if I have a 100ah lifepo4 battery and use 50ah's, then drive the truck for 1 hour, I'll replace 30ah to give me 80ah capacity. So in 2 hours of...

DC to DC charger basic questions

If I get/have xyz brand DC-DC charger rated at 12vdc, 30 amps ... what does that mean in terms of recharging the camper battery using the truck and xyz brand DC-DC charger? Does that mean, in very basic simple terms, if I drive, or run the engine, for 1 hour I put 30AH into the camper batteries...

NEW PRICE $850 - Victron sold Energy MultiPlus 12/3000/120-50 Inverter with Charger - 120V (UL Listed)

I live in Penfield, NY. Remember, I'll travel a some reasonable distance to help though I don't know what that distance is. Looking up a zip code is easy and gives you a map of area. Trying to explain where Penfield, NY is isn't as easy and most people will still have to look it up because no...

    Charge Controller help

Hmmm .... I just realized that at 210w/12v nominal for the panels, I'm putting too many watts into either charge controller if I wire everything parallel. Victron 100/50: rated for 700w @ 12v or 1400w @ 24v - and - Victron 150/100: rated for 1450W @ 12v or 2900w @ 24v. Again, I'm starting with...

    Charge Controller help

I've started to plan out a solar set up for a 5th wheel camper (that we haven't purchased yet) and I could use some guidance please. I want to start with 6 x 210w panels and have an option to add 2 more when we're ready. I want the 2 extra panels to be pretty much "plug-n-play" when it's time...

NEW PRICE $850 - Victron sold Energy MultiPlus 12/3000/120-50 Inverter with Charger - 120V (UL Listed)

Asking $850 or reasonable offer New is ~$1400 I just removed this from our camper (which we're selling). It works and looks as if it's brand new and works great when combined with solar (though not required). Our whole camper (120vac outlets, microwave, air conditioner, etc.) was powered...

    Mixing different LiFePO4 Batteries

I could use some further advice and/or explanation on this please. I have 2 x 100ah BB's in my camper (travel trailer) with solar and the whole camper runs through a 3kw inverter. Everything's wired either 12vdc or 120vac (just like the camper was set up from the factory) to make it simpler...
