Future of DIY LiFePO4 looks bleak…

I mean at $.31 for 5.1kWh how many can I order, lol

Yeah it looks like either he deleted, or it was deleted by admin. So it's not just you that can't find him.

    Beware @Michael B Caro

Now imagine if Amazons first year had been taking orders and not filling them, but keeping the money. So that’s a far left field analogy. End of the day, if you start a business with no investment and plan to operate it off others’ then it’s ponzi, period.

    Beware @Michael B Caro

At the same time, if he has/had inventory to sell, those cells could be used to make some of these folks who are left holding the bag “whole”. And I’m not sure there are tons of investors out there who want to buy into a negative entity that has only Accts Payable and no Accts Receivable. End of...

    Beware @Michael B Caro

It's not the "stupidest post" you could possibly make; there are lots of valid points. However, your experiences are actually part of the problem in this situation. No one is doubting that China is 'difficult to deal with'; that goes without saying. But rather, it's where the similarities end...

Harbor freight 9500 Watt Super Quiet Inverter Generator

It looks like a really good buy compared to what's on the market. I'll be watching and hoping it holds up. Paying $5k for a smaller sized Honda just never did appeal to me.

    Cause of Battery Fire

I’m afraid that HDPE melts at 235 degrees while lithium burns closer to 2000 degrees. I love starboard, and have used it a lot on my boat, but it won’t save you from a fire I’m afraid.

Future of DIY LiFePO4 looks bleak…

I have a feeling that by the end of February, beginning of March, anyone who needs a battery will come running to the DIY community once they've been given a price for that 24/36/48v 150 Ah and up battery. The market is currently trying to prepare folks for what's downstream, but as usual, most...

JBD 4S 200A BMS in Parallel

I can't get my head wrapped around how a BMS would even know that it's paired up in parallel? I can understand the series configuration but in parallel, we all know that each battery will handle up to it's limit. I'm sure I'm missing something, but at the moment, sounds like a lot of "we don't...

Did I buy the wrong BMS?

Did you top balance your cells in parallel, or immediately put them into series and charged them up? Safer to assume that EVERY cell you encounter needs top balancing, mainly because of the very flat discharge rates of LifePo4.

    Beware @Michael B Caro

You know it's getting bad when people are pointing fingers at each other and getting mad at strangers. End of the day, this whole thing is a horrible mess. You really can't defend Michael and it's because of his own statements; "Those of you that ordered the Lishen 271ah cells don't need to...

    Beware @Michael B Caro

It might be time to start a new thread of who is left holding the bag at this point. 8 months is a long, long time. Sorry for everyone involved.

Nissan Leaf (gen 1) voltage range.

If this is the completed install, can we safely assume you're not using a BMS? If that's the case, to be both the safest for your home, and to answer your OP question, a BMS is recommended.

    Beware @Michael B Caro

Dang man, sorry you've had such a nightmare. It's a very strange and odd coincidence that he found out about a shipping problem right after you sent him a payment. Probably just that, but my hackles would've stood straight up at that precise moment. Couple that with a "fell through the...

    CATL 271Ah cell issues.

Beat me to it. I’ll also add that his response was thorough and concise. It sounds as if the detractor from said comment really skirts around to imply it’s “racist”, but never once does he say anything about a people rather unscrupulous companies. For all we know it’s a bunch of American...

Overkill Solar - Wrong BMS Size for my system?

I would start shopping for the new BMS for sure. I've had my golfcart trip mine and I could only find 96 amps max draw. Knowing that you need it for "overnight" makes it more important because you'll be waking up to no power overnight and a hot area.

    It's the Wild West - RV's w/Chinese Prebuilts

I hear the points of "prismatics should be ok on their sides", but the logical part of my brains starts to smoke up a little because there's no way the cells on the bottom aren't more 'compressed' than the ones on the top row. And either too much compression is a bad thing, or it isn't. These...

    Daly smart BMS issue

Yes, go around it. Lots of people use their BMS for charge only this way. Not saying it’s the right choice long term, but you at least start to narrow things down and maybe use the lift. Wouldn’t be a horrible idea to put a current meter on the lift to see what it does draw while you’re at it...

    Daly smart BMS issue

I don’t think the app shows much outside of the “batt off/batt on” switch and possibly the error code that tripped it but I’m my memory isn’t what it used to be. I can look tonite. The Blue wire is connected to the Batt-, so you’re just reading the pack. Guessing you can see if the Anderson is...

    Daly smart BMS issue

Does it mention a “start up” or “inrush” when the key is turned? IF the cells read correctly inside the case then it seems you’re down to two possibilities; bad Anderson plug or ur amp draw is exceeding the max the BMS is set to allow. Definitely rule out the first before the latter

    Daly smart BMS issue

The "wake-up" button is what I meant so we are talking about the same thing. If you're reading/can adjust settings/etc. in the BMS after pushing that button and it's reading all the voltages correctly (individual cells etc.) then it's functioning. Can you access the inside of the battery to be...

    Daly smart BMS issue

So then are you saying once you activate it, you can't power/move the cherry picker? If that's the case, I would check all of the connections on the load side because it may not be a battery related issue. Any chance you have another 24v load you can try it on to make sure?

It shouldn’t connect to the app if it’s asleep. Are you sure you’re not exceeding the amp draw causing it into protection?

+1…..it’s asleep. Quickest solve is apply charge through a benchtop power supply. Out of curiosity is the battery for the cherry picker? Just being nosey

    Big Battery 24V inconsistencies

I mean I can understand why they would want to see the broken battery before sending out the replacement. For all they know, it shows up with the lid removed and half the wiring cut. It's not an unreasonable expectation to wait until the broken one is in-house, and it's confirmed it's a...

I’m curious what the “claim” should state for those that had their cells recalled? Those people deserve their refund regardless of how it’s acquired. To imply they’re “stealing” is making you complicit in the debacle. Sorry but it sure does look like the stall tactic mentioned above. Based on...
