Need help with a School Project

Hey guys, I am the sponsor for my schools solar sprint team. It is a tiny solar panel, attached to a tiny DC motor which moves a car. The panel and motor pieces are set, but we were wondering if there would be a way to keep the voltage up higher and maybe increase speed. Not sure if this is...

LV6048 will no longer charge EV

Hey guys, I have a LV6048 with 4 100ah LiTime and a 16s 100aH system both at 48 volts. I took the LiTimes off, because I needed to test something else. Last night, I plugged in my EV and went to bed - the 16s was around 54% charged. I woke up and the truck was at 1%. I walked outside and the...

Ok, I have watched the fusing video - this still feels wrong

Ok, I am looking at 10 310w panels. I can wire them in series for 100v and 40.25a. The panels have a series fuse of 15 and a short circuit current of 9.93. If I am understanding correctly because my Isc is below my series fuse amperage I do not need to fuse? Or, am I missing something...

    Help with 2s4p setup

Hello everyone. I have a LV6048 and I have found some local panels I want to try. The LV6048 - The panels are REC360AA - By my math, a 2s4p would give me Solar Array Wattage: 2880W Temperature Compensated Array Voltage: 98V Controller Output Amperage: 50A Array Short Circuit Amperage...

    Getting Split Unit off Grid?

My house has a split unit on the porch. I have been thinking of building a 240v system to power it in the summer. I am a bit unsure on how to calculate needed wattage and battery needs. It only needs to work when the temp is over 90 - I live in Alabama. Voltage 240 Freq 60 Max Fuse 25A

Any coders here? Or people who do not mind testing code.

I am working on a tool to give the user the most efficient way to wire his/her panels. It has worked with my testing, but I would love any feedback or suggestions. I have no plan for deployment - I really just made it because my classes are over and I was bored. Thanks in advance -...

    Final Check before Wiring Panels

Ok, I am finally ready to wire my first high voltage system, and I want to be sure before I do it. I plan to wire 4 Tallmax 335 in series into one side of my lv6048. I've been watching videos and reading forum posts, but the order of things throws me off. Currently, the system is running on...

Have I finally found panels for my LV 6548?

A local seller has some new Tallmax 335 panels - VMPP 37.9, IMP 8.84 EDIT: VOC is 46.3 I have an up and running LV6548. It looks like I can run 3 in series at 114V and 8.89A. So, 9 would be 3015W. Is my math here correct? Would I need to fuse each group of 3?

Finally got LV6048 Hooked to AC...Now overload?

Finally got my LV6048 hooked up to my grid for AC input. I pre-charged the capacitors, turned on the batteries, and turned on the circuit. It turned on and read 120v for input and output. While I was checking all the settings, it started to beep constantly and displayed F07 A2 F00. The manual...

At wits end with 280ah and Overkill BMS

I have a 16s 48v 280ah battery. The 1st cell reads crazy out of line no matter what. I have top balanced, rearranged cells, and created an entirely new harness. After installing the new harness tonight, I received the attached readings. I pulled cell one and it read 3.4. Any ideas?

Finally ready for Panels LV 6548

Ok, I finally have my LV6048 and batteries installed. I have been looking for panels to pair with my system, and I think I have found them. LV 6548 Solar Charger Mode Max PV Input Voltage (Voc) 250VDC MPPT Voltage Range 90 - 230VDC Number of Input Strings 2 Max PV Input Current 18A...

    Truck Mounted Solar

I found out yesterday that my reservation on a Ford Lightning is ready. While waiting for it I had been thinking about a mounted solar system that would work as a backup for emergencies. Is there any reason I could not just mount a 400w panel to a hard bed cover and run the wires into a...

Different brand batteries on one buss bar

Hello all, I am consolidating my systems into one larger system. I have a new 16s 280ah with overkill bms and 4 almost new ampere 100ahs. If I wire the Amperes into 48v and top them off, then can I use both sets of batteries? I know not to mix cells nor types, but these are all the same...

280ah w/overkill bms wont turn on

I hooked up my AC input and was turning everything back on until I noticed my bms won’t turn on the output. Also, why would my one cell be so low? They were balanced before assembly but sat for a month or so.

    Ac hookup for LV6048

Ok, now that I have my DC hooked up (thanks to everyone here), I am ready to move on to my AC hookup. As you can see in the picture, someone before me maxed out the panel and installed a sub panel. The easiest thing to do would be just throw a 40a in the sub panel and be good to go. However, the...

    Feeding LV6048 with only 120v

In this video Will says you can feed an LV6048 with only 120v if needed. I cannot find this in the manual. How does one do this?

    One final check before I pre-charge LV6548.

Ok, I think everything is finally here. I have a 280ah battery, overkill BMS, and a LV6548. Pos and neg from battery both come up into bus bars. The neg goes directly into the LV6548. The power goes into a 200a breaker and then into the LV6548. What I need to do is attach the end of the pos...

    Pre-charge capacitors with a breaker?

I will have a 48v 280ah battery into a 200 amp breaker and then into LV6048. I have watched several videos on pre-charging and I bought a 25w030, but none show what do do with an inline breaker. Do I pre-charge through it? Would it cause an explosion if I hooked up both sides to the breaker...

Is this just a bad match (LV6048)?

    Ok, I am building a small (6K or so) 240v AC setup with a 48v battery. After some searching, I found the LV6048 - Max PV V - 145, Mptt Range 60 - 110 VDC, 4,000 watts 80a x2 The panels I am looking at are 450w 10.69a 42v So, I can do 7 in parallel for 3150w, 43V, and 75A to each input. It...

What is the quickest way to 240v?

I am planning on buying an EV for my next vehicle, and I would like to charge it, at least partially, with solar. Assuming all I have is a brand new 280ah 48v battery, what would be the easiest way to 240v charging? Does it always have to involve 2 inverters? (Currently, I have a Growatt 3000TL...

Off grid Growatt to Breaker Panel

I keep finding different information about what do to about the 3000TL bonding. I have attached my sample drawing. Since they are bonded in the unit, do I just not use the green screw? Or, do I need to attach the green to something else?

    16s 48v 280ah circuit size?

If I have my 16s 48v 280ah battery bank attached to a bus bar, what size circuit breaker/t-fuse should I use? I keep finding different answers.

    Batteries for solar/crypto

Currently, I mine crypto, and I would like to invest my profits into solar. I understand that I will not be able to offset all of my power costs, but I would like to build, payoff, expand, etc. My summer power cost are really high because I also have a pool. I have been doing some research, but...
