    Sofar ME3000sp running offgrid

we need more info about your inverter. To charge batteries through your inverter the inverter must be an inverter/charger. If it is not then you will need a separate charger. I'm guessing you already have solar panels to charge your batteries, is that correct?

280 and larger 320ah cells all seem sto have the same physical dimensions, why?

Thanks guys, that pretty much confirms my suspicions. Another newb falls for the hype. Live and learn.

    MPPT Controler question

Good, 4s is so much easier and cheaper to wire.

    MPPT Controler question

I agree with rmaddy since there is a question with the voltage of the panels then wire your panels in 2 parallel and then series those with the other 2 panels in parallel (2s2p) The voltage is too close to take a chance of burning up a controller

    MPPT Controler question

Rinot you are correct, you want to keep your battery bank at 24v so you can power your inverter. From what I see you could put your 4 panels in series and run the 87v into you charge controller. Your charge controller will reduce the voltage and charge the 24v battery bank. I hope I understood...

280 and larger 320ah cells all seem sto have the same physical dimensions, why?

I need to replace 2 low cells in my 48v 310ah diy bank, and in looking for replacements I notice that most all 280ah cells and larger are all the same physical dimensions. 72mm x 173mm x 208 mm. So my question is are they all basically 280 ah cells and some test better than others so they sell...

Panels to the rain roof advice

I took some 2x2" alum angle and cut it into 4" lengths and screwed it to the sides of the solar panels. Then screwed down through the angle and into the roof to secure the panel to the roof.

Panels to the rain roof advice

I helped a friend mount his panels to a metal roof and we used aluminum angle of the side of the panels and down onto the metal and spaced them so we screwed into the wood supports under the metal roof. Not very expensive for the angle and easy to cut into short lengths.

Anyone around SoCal ordering 310ah batteries from Amy Zheng at Docan anytime soon?

I have contacted her or one of her coworkers and the batteries I want have a 4 cell minimum. I only need 2. I did find 2 cells on E bay and bought them but after I did a capacity test it turned out they were not as advertised. I had to return them.

Anyone around SoCal ordering 310ah batteries from Amy Zheng at Docan anytime soon?

If so I would like to add to your order. I need 2- 310ah cells. If you are going to order I would of course pay you in advance and either pick up or pay you to ship the batteries to me. Anyone?

SOLD 2-310/280ah Liitokala lifepo4 cells for sale $140 each

I bought 16 310ah cells and made them into a 48v bank but during use I noticed that I wasn't getting the amp hours I was expecting so I did a capacity test on the bank and instead of the 310 ah I should get I was only getting 280ah. Looking at the bms I saw that cells #6 and 10 were low. I...

    Replace car battery with LiFePO4?

Funny you should ask, I just built a starting battery for my 2020 Polaris rzr. I used 4 25ah lifepo4 cells and a 200 amp BMS, put it all into a box approximately the size of the stock battery in the rzr. Before I did the swap I checked the voltage of the system and with the lead acid battery the...

Best current turnkey 48V LiFePO batteries?

I bought 3 of the GYLL 100ah 48v batteries from signature solar in March of this year and have been using them for 6 months now with absolutely no problems except that I am a computer idiot and I cannot get my computer to "see" the bms in these batteries. I am in the process of building my first...

Has anyone tested the Gyll / EG4 LifePo4 batteries

I have 3 of the Gyll 48v 100ah batteries and have been using them since March this year. No problems with them except that the BMS is only available through a usb connector and a computer. I have not figured that part out yet. Other than that they work just fine. No complaints.

How dangerous are swollen LiFePo4 cells received from AliExpress ?

As everyone knows copper is soft so drill it at high speed with a sharp drill bit and light pressure on the bit so it doesn't grab and spin your work.

    Stud broken, looking for help/insight.

I'm a hobby machinist so I know a little about trying to repair this kind of stuff. Its hard to tell from the photos but it looks like there is something sticking up in the center of the hole where the stud pulled off. Is that right? If so then that would have to be removed. Next what is the...

Generator for mpp solar lvx 6048?

Self, When the lvx inverters are in parallel does one inverter sleep and wait for a large load before it wakes up and helps the master inverter? If so what is the watt draw in sleep mode? If not then 280 watts is a fairly large draw. If I did the math in my head correctly thats about 5 amps at...

Generator for mpp solar lvx 6048?

Again I have no experience with the MPP inverters so take what I say with a grain of salt. I think you stated in your original post that you were going to use 2 MPP inverters which I think is a good idea in that if you have a problem you have a back up. That is why I have 2 Outbacks. Never...

Generator for mpp solar lvx 6048?

I like the Punta Chivato area a lot. I have friends down there. I'm up in BoLA October through June. I spend the summer months at my house in San Diego near La Jolla so not too hot out here with the on shore flow. Good luck on not using any hydrocarbons, but you will certainly reduce your foot...

Generator for mpp solar lvx 6048?

You definitely need a gen back up. Yes Baja is sunny but once you start relying on the sun you realize how many cloudy and partially cloudy days there really are. The worst I have experienced where I am in northern Baja is 11 days in a row of clouds. In those 11 days I put 23 hours on my...

    Off Grid A.C.

Thad, I just saw this thread today or I would have chimed in earlier. In the end you did exactly as I would have encouraged you to do. Last March I installed a 300ah lfp 48v battery bank after having agm's for 15years and could not be happier. I also installed 2 mini splits. I'm in northern Baja...

What do I need for an 8s 12v diy battery?

To monitor state of charge you will need a BMS with a way to see what is going on internally as in a built in blue tooth or something similar. For top balancing you will need a constant current/constant voltage charger and connect your cells in series and charge them to 3.65v max and let them...

Just received li-ion from AliExpress through LiitokalaVariCoreFlagship

Your post gives me hope. I ordered 16 310ah batteries from the same store on June 22 and they still haven't been delivered yet. Maybe mine are on the way. Good luck with yours.

    Liifepo cells for vehicle starting?

Samsonite, I looked at those but they are a little more than I want to spend but they have done all the work of sourcing all the parts and trouble shooting the whole thing. I found some new 25ah cells at a battery place for $75 for 4 of them delivered to the door so I bought some. They are...

    Liifepo cells for vehicle starting?

I have an off road vehicle that in the not to distant future is going to need a new battery. So planning ahead I'm wondering if I couldn't build my own battery using lifepo4 cells of say 50ah capacity? I say 50ah capacity because 4 of them and a bms will make a small enough package to fit into...

Is it necessary to compress cells to try to keep them from expanding?

That is the way I am leaning right now but I won't make any decisions until I get up to my house in San Diego to sit out the summer when it is too hot down here. I'm thinking 16s in 2 packs of 8 sxs with threaded rod and maybe a 1/4" aluminum plate on each end. I would probably use 1/4-20 or...

Is it necessary to compress cells to try to keep them from expanding?

Thank you for all the helpful replies. Looks like I'll do something to limit the cells from expanding when I put the parts together later this summer.

Is it necessary to compress cells to try to keep them from expanding?

Hi all, I'm knew to the forum but no so new to solar, I've been off grid for 23 years now in northern Baja, Mx and am tired of lead acid batteries. I want to build my own lifepo batteries and have been watching videos and reading all I can about putting the cells together and wiring up a bms. I...
