    Underground wire short....

I have the array itself grounded, and the a cheapo once built into my combiner box, but I don't have a lighting arrester. Not yet anyway as I just ordered a set of them and will ground this property. Is this a case where lightning in the area, even though I did not get a direct hit, could...

    Underground wire short....

I had an issue that I think is caused by very alkaline/salty water getting into my cable run and causing a short. I am using a 150ft run of 6 gauge copper connected to 15 240 watt panels in a 5s3p configuration. I have two sets of panels wired like this, each to its own inverter and all...

    EG4 6500 randomly shuts down

I went with the 6000 specifically as they seemed to have fewer issues and by my research would handle my pumps starting better then the high frequency units even though the 6500s had more power and seemed newer....

    EG4 6500 randomly shuts down

When I download the latest it shows up as 63.13. That's from the downloads page. You must have a 6500EX as that has the 79.66 version. I have a 6000EX. I guess I am stuck with the issue for now util support is happy with my photos and videos.

    EG4 6500 randomly shuts down

Can you let us know what exact firmware you use cuz I'm in the same exact position just waiting on support

EG4 6000EX firmware cable fails to connect

It's a pair of EG4 6000ex inverters purchased from signature solar. The docs are pretty sparse on the subject. Ill pose the question to support and see what they say...

EG4 6000EX firmware cable fails to connect

I have a nice heavy ground wire between the GND on the inverters, my breaker panels and a ground rod driven into the earth. Was the easiest part of this whole thing.

EG4 6000EX firmware cable fails to connect

That clears it up for me. As the nearest grid is a good 10 miles away, I don't think I will ever be connected to it. I don't think I will ever want to open up the system and attach a bonding point like I read in other posts. But then, it's not like these really have a warranty and support...

EG4 6000EX firmware cable fails to connect

There are a couple other people on this site with the issue. For me at least, it happens every day after the batteries are fully charged from the nights drawdown, the inverter just shuts off the AC w/o warning or errors for 4 seconds. I assume "Mobile" meant the inverters were installed...

EG4 6000EX firmware cable fails to connect

I see what you are saying now. I just received mine last week and it came with the USB to Serial converter and the DB9 to RJ45. I am still going back and forth with support, but I suspect they are going to want me to flash mine pretty quick. It has the "drop AC for 4 seconds" issue.

EG4 6000EX firmware cable fails to connect

I'm not following you... Are you saying that to flash the firmware you need a different cable than what is provided? I got a USB to serial converter and a serial cable DB9 to RJ45 that plugs into it. Also a black battery to inverter connection cable.

Add Heating Pads to EG4 or Switching to Trophy Batteries?

I bought 4 Trophy Batteries about a year ago and they did fine this winter. I have a temperature gauge out there and at times the shed was in the 20's all day. They do not balance between all four and discharge/charge unevenly despite everything I have tried, but that doesn't seem to effect...

Signature Solar Customer Support and EG4 6000EX inverter issues

I got a little of that up front, part of this is I get what I pay for and I bought what I still consider a mid-range inverter. It's 2K not 8 or 10K so I expect some of this. Same with Trophy Batteries, but when I call or send Dan an email, he gets right back to me even if it's to say they...

Signature Solar Customer Support and EG4 6000EX inverter issues

I've called and sat on hold until I gave up, and sent multiple emails and CC'ed Peyton, I get told I am in the queue like everyone else. The lack of response just worries me and if I need to get a different product I want to start that process. I'd be happy to work with them and resolve this.

Signature Solar Customer Support and EG4 6000EX inverter issues

Has anyone had any luck returning these units? I was thinking of starting a warranty claim through my credit card as I have not heard back from Signature Solar on any of my issues.

    EG4 6500 randomly shuts down

I can answer for mine as I've blown up other systems when it got really cold and there was full sun and the voltage went way up. This happens to my paired 6000's after the batteries are done charging and the system is just floating. I run about 175 volts and 1200 watts per string, one to...

General question for EG4 6500 owners

I have two EX6000's and once the batteries are fully charged, they "blink" the AC for about 5 seconds. This is the same as Kurts issue as well as others. I don't have cell where they are located so I cannot call Signature Solar, so far a couple emails have gone into the "queue". My...

    Anyone have a NodeRed flow EG4 6000EX-48

I use Node-Red to build monitors and control pumps and other stuff at my remote site. I have working flows for Trophy Batteries, Victron BMS and EpEver solar charge controllers. Now I have EG4 6000Ex inverters, I'd like to add them to the mix. Even though I have a document that sorta...

    EG4 6500 randomly shuts down

I hear you. My off grid is an 8 hour drive over rough roads so doing anything is a huge pain. I have two 6000EX units that are brand new and they do this same thing, shutoff for 5 seconds so switching to them will probably not cure it. Windows made me upgrade to version 11 and I cannot get...

    EG4 6500 randomly shuts down

Have you noticed any pattern? It works fine all morning and charged up the batteries. Then after they are fully charged, it just does the 5 second power cycle. The only load is some lights.

    EG4 6500 randomly shuts down

Yes. I did, but have not heard back from them. I wish they would assign case numbers so we could cross reference them. My issue is exactly the same as yours. I put starlink on a UPS for now so I don't have to deal with the 5 minute outage while it reboots. I have Trophy batteries...

    EG4 6500 randomly shuts down

I have two brand new units that do exactly the same thing. Power off for about 4-5 seconds and then the power comes right back on. No alerts or errors that I can see. Have you contacted support?

Our off grid cabin Victron/Trophy setup

How did you figure out your switch settings? I don't know of any docs that tell you what they actually mean. It looks like the first 4 are the battery address. I thought 5 and 6 set it to be a master battery, but you are setting just the last switch...

    Trophy Batteries

I bought my Trophy batteries based on Will's positive reviews, in his defense, the batteries did seem to balance out well for him, but he also never connected any of the communication cables. In doing more research, it seems that the batteries that do not charge all the way have a cell that is...

    Trophy Batteries

I talked with Dan today. He has new BMS firmware he is testing and hopes to release it to us beta testers here in a couple days. Fingers crossed. To summarize my setup. 4 batteries wired with 2/0 cables to a common busbar then to 8000 watt dumb inverter and EPEver solar charge...

    Trophy Batteries

At first, Dan had me connect them all up, I wonder if the BMS is somehow confused. Perhaps on the next trip I will reset them (power of for a bit) and then charge them one by one.

    Trophy Batteries

After lots of photo's of every part of my system he was at a loss and said basically to not worry about it. He did want me to swap cables around again but I only get down to where its all at every month or so. I monitor everything remote. I'll get down there in a couple weeks and work on...

    Trophy Batteries

I'm the same, I have to deal with very cold weather as well. I considered building an underground battery bunker, that might be my next move. I just wish these batteries behaved better, I lose faith in them when one sits at 92% and the others are down in the 60% range. And now a couple do...

    Trophy Batteries

How far is your run from the panels to the batteries? Mine is 175', not that it has anything to do with my battery issue, but the cable costs were not something I am super happy about... I do not have them all interconnected, each one is independent.

    Trophy Batteries

No, I have four Trophy Batteries all purchased at the same time. I am thinking my charging voltage may be too low? Float charging is 55.20 volts.

    Trophy Batteries

I didn't see those settings, I did get the battery manual and used those as best as I could translate. I assume that the BMS takes care of most of that. Unlike yours, my batteries do not draw down evenly and do not charge equally. Like I noted above, they all go to a 1/4 thick copper...

    Trophy Batteries

My solar charge controller doesn't have a default for Lithium Batteries, it's "user specified". What values should I use and/or are these reasonable for a Trophy?
