    Any updates on longevity?

    PET or ETFE Solar panel

Yes, my panels rest on open ended poly-something tubed pane for heat dissapation. What I have read in reviews mostly amazon is people are stating they are getting more than 4 years ( found a post saying 7 years to date). I think it is the brand I used, and will get a 4+ year warranty on the next...

Death of a panel - cause?.. resessucation possible?

So ... getting my VW bus out from winter storage, and checked all things solar. 4, 100 watt flexible panels on the bus top- same manufacturer In the sun, Vitron was saying 0 volts Tested each panel and found 2 of the panel are now bad.. 1 = 0 volts, other 2.1 volts The dead panels wires were...

Yes, i agree, Very nice setup.. Thanks for the input, much appreiciated!

High voltage to charge 3.2V battery cells - is it ok?

Thanks for the quick reply! I do have heavier gauge wire than #10 Yes, am very aware of the quick charge to 3.5, have to watch it like a watching a toddler with a fork by an outlet. Hmmm. may put them together then do the BMS. Thanks So, again even a 12V 45 amp charger would be fine.. not that...

High voltage to charge 3.2V battery cells - is it ok?

Ok, seems like a simple question but want clarification.. Cells; Eve 3.2V 280AH Capacity test In wanting to do a capacity test on my eve cells, Say the cell is at 3.2V IF I were wanting to bring them up to 3.5V, charging them at 3.5V with my DC power supply ( 30V, 10 A max) shows maybe 2...

Charging at lower but above 0C temperatures...

Thanks!.. are these guidelines for LiFeP.. heard CATL has switched their cathode from LiFeP to Li manganese iron phosphate.. not sure if this change only applies for their batteries designated for electric cars or not..

Charging at lower but above 0C temperatures...

I would think even 0C is so far above 0 kelvin ( = -270C) the difference between 20C and 0C would be negligible comparative re: reactions but what do I know about this.. I keep reading...

Thanks.. I did not catch that... just focused on the table..

Charging at lower but above 0C temperatures...

Thank you so much!!!!.... But as a newbie, not quite sure at the moment.. what the "25C rested OCV" means. Is this the equilivent cell voltage at 25C? -implying it would it voltage be different at 8C? Would be surprising to me

Charging at lower but above 0C temperatures...

Greetings... I have 4 eve 280 AH 3.2V bounded to make 12v in VW camper I left a small draw appliance running unknowingly which brought my batteries down to 2.8V argh! Found this out when went to set my batteries 50% charge for the winter. Engaged my solar panels - battery cells now 3.2V EVE...

    Did i wreck my battery?

Sorry I mislead, ...better said this way after I looked it up..."normal car batteries are considered to be “fully discharged” at 10.5 volts, which is only about 80 percent of full."

    Did i wreck my battery?

For the spec.s I see overcharge protection, but do not see over and under voltage protection, unless I am missing it.

    Did i wreck my battery?

You cannot measure amp hours, directly live voltage Your controller probably reasons like this There is a12V, 100 amp hour battery when the battery is 13V, it is fully charged, and therefor has 100 amp/hours that can be used. How much the battery is damaged would reveal lower amp/hours. I...

    Did i wreck my battery?

Ok, to start, Do you know the model of the furrion controller ? Not really sure what the amps reading mean for your controller - so learning about the model of your controller system would be helpful If it is a very good controller, no more amps would be allowed into your battery if it is...

Charging battery pack with Xiaoxiang app

Thanks, it is always good to see normal behavior...... ok, nice, will copy and print that for my "VW Solar" folder Thank you

Charging battery pack with Xiaoxiang app

Good to know, thought I was past being a newbie, guess not. Any thought about the voltage drop? is this normal? Possible the batteries have to "settle" or something like that after being charged for hours at 45 amps

Charging battery pack with Xiaoxiang app

In my situation, the solar charge controller is disconnected from the batteries while I am charging the batteries from low SOC state - with the 45 amp charger.. Basically, - although the battery pack is in my bus, I guess I am doing a "bench charge" of the pack. The 2 accessories "hooked up" to...

Charging battery pack with Xiaoxiang app

Thanks to all. My solar panels were disconnected. Ok I get it now ( been a while since I thought of this stuff) when the batteries reach their upper limit via BMS, the BMS switches the circuit to be open, so no more current can flow from the 45 amp charger. Voltage: good question.. sad to say...

Charging battery pack with Xiaoxiang app

I have to see if the Overkill BMS can handle dissipating 45 amps if it stops the batteries from further charge. Hopefully the spec for that is out there somewhere..

Yes, in thinking... you are right, so now I get it. It has been quite a while since I looked at it. Thank you

Charging battery pack with Xiaoxiang app

OK, thanks surprised the BMS can do this through the battery's main cables.. Yes, the charger is 45 ams, the280 amp eve batteries max charge rate is 1c OR, I wonder if there is a max amp the BMS can handle. If the bms stops the charging to the batteries, where do all the 45 amps then go? To...

Charging battery pack with Xiaoxiang app

Hi, have 4 Eve 3.2V cells, 280 amp hours. And an Overkill BMS Over the winter battery pack went low, so am now charging the pack I am charging with a 45 amp charger, the clamps being on the main positive and negative cable from the battery pack. Do I have to constantly visually monitor the...

    Are my batteries trashed?

Yes, I am expecting for them to fully recover, found on the Xiaoxiang app where it records events. Saw that my lowest cell went down to 2.52, so is close to being bad, but not there. So glad to have a BMS! Agreed the lead battery would have been too damaged.

    Are my batteries trashed?

I do not recall how low the individual cells went, think it was ~ 2.5. Believing what Sparkyjjo is saying, test to see how good the BMS really is. Would it not be advisable to move the low cutoff from 10V to something like 11 volts?

    Are my batteries trashed?

Beginning of winter had my batteries ( 12 volt, 4 eve batteries, 280 amp hours) at ~ 50% SOC. Had overkill BMS watching my batteries. Vehicle is VW bus, these have been known to be stolen so always had a tracker running off battery to track it. Anyway, now is springtime, and noticed my battery...

Is outer casing paper thin protecting cathode material?

After seeing this I was thinking Mylar, very cheap also, but because it can tear easily (?), what you have may be better. Hmmm.. after a thought perhaps what you have is sold at Home Depot very cheaply as a paint sheet...(?)

Overkill BMS - guidance to set SOC?

Thank you, According to a chart on the previous page: When SOC = 96%, each cell voltage is 3.36 volts, battery pack is a total of 13.40. Overvoltage = 3.65, where the BMS would stop charging. So after a month of so of normal ... say RV usage with having adequate solar system, would your...

Overkill BMS - guidance to set SOC?

thank you. I raised the question due to statements I heard about not keeping your battery more than 50% SOC for long periods of time. Especially if you store them during the winter. Just not sure how the BMS handles a battery that when connected is say at 90% of charge... does it keep it there...
