I have a few that have failed. A generic 30amp model, an aims 60A model, both just stopped registering solar input. And a 30A make sky blue that got exposed to rain and now does nothing.

    I am building a 48V 3072Wh 1500W solar generator

I started with a Ridgid rolling case. I have the cells set in, and the bms leads all routed and tied in place, protected with plastic corrogated sheeth. Anybody see anything i need to address so far? It is only 60Ah, so im not too concerned with arc flash failure. A good fuse will be...

Ok... i have a new solar generator project i am going to start on this fall

So... I just bought this today, it's about 8 years old, has a little moisture stain on the floor by the side door. Otherwise appears in great shape. Inside dimensions are 13'3" nose to back door, and 5'8" side to side. 6' height. The roof has a slight curve to it, and is REALLY thin galvanized...

Interesting solar powered lawn care DIYer

The guy even uses a Tesla to tow the equipment around… With 1200W of solar, he isn’t charging the car though! But that combined with an onboard eg4 5kWh rack mount, and several chargers onboard, he is getting the jobs done! He doesn’t go over the tech setup much in this video, but his others...

I bought the ecoflow glacier with River max bundle this prime day…

So… The river has worked fine, I sorta like it. I don’t like the molded handle, wish it had a folding handle or a central handle… But that’s not the big issue, the big problem is the glacier just clicks… no cooling function. And the website doesn’t let me log in to get warranty service on it...

    Off topic, EV vehicle opinions…

Ok, I have been looking for a cheap EV for my wife… she drives an 01 Passat now, and I’ve spent innumerable amounts on service of the car… also, it has an oil leak, goes through about a quart a month, and it stinks… the shop is pricy to get it fixed up… And of course fuel. She doesn’t drive...

What is the logic in a 2400W output solar generator… with a 1500Wh battery?

I mean… with enough solar, I suppose one could power a 2400W load for some time, but if you need that much wattage a 1500Wh battery isn’t going to be very helpful after dark… And a 2400W capability would allow a microwave to start, to cook a small meal in a few minutes… 1500Wh battery keeps...

    80% from a solar panel?

https://www.pv-magazine.com/2023/03/24/german-manufacturer-achieves-80-overall-efficiency-with-new-pvt-solar-module/ In a world where NASA panels in space can’t achieve 46% I am reluctant to accept this article at face value…

I am putting together a series of bids for a solar build. Wanna collaborate?

Customer approached me. They have a nice farmhouse with a small barn, and a workshed. It is already wired for power from the house, and they also have a deck, with 12V LED lighting on the railings powered by a non functioning solar system. First they just wanted me to fix the deck lighting...
