Mismatched Panels - 2 Panels Parallel to 1 in Series

There is a small mismatch but the percent lost would be in the 1-2% range. Not enough to worry about.

Mismatched Panels - 2 Panels Parallel to 1 in Series

A better solution would be 2 standard off the shelf 72 cell panels (36 volts ea. @MPP) wired in series and then put in parallel with your 72 volt panels. In that case you would not be limiting either string (s) of panels. The voltages would be the same but each string would operate at their own...

    Midnight polarized breaker direction

The 63 amp breaker is the MNPV-63 din rail breaker.....made by Circuit Breaker International......the QY series.....the ones that will be replaced by non-polarized What we are talking about is the MNDC-100 amp panel mount breaker made by Carling Technologies the “C” series breaker which IS...

    Midnight polarized breaker direction

I have an all Midnight system with MNPV6 combiners with MNPV breakers and a MNDC-15 circuit breaker box with MNDC panel mount breakers for all the solar controllers wired as per midnight’s instruction and have never had a problem. The DC breaker box also has the breakers for the Exeltech...

iPad instead of Victron GX Touch

I do have and use the victron app for both iPhone and iPad, it allows basic programming of victron components but it does not have the cerbo screens. That is entirely doable. All it takes is the creative app to do it.

iPad instead of Victron GX Touch

The iPad is not limited in it’s display capability, its a matter of the app.

    Not to happy with Magnum.

My magnum does just fine on an slow speed traditional copper wound generator but mine is made in USA ONAN whose copper alone weighs more than an asian big box generator which does have more rorational mass than a cheepie throw away. 4kw 1800 rpm 380 lbs. Its mass makes it very stable

Full Electric Drive Conversion of Tri-Axle Coach 21700 or prismatic? Battery cycle Testers..?

I think that my point was that they use LFP......not Lithium ion.....for safety! Also Gillig and Crown use only LFP in their busses Looking further you will find that all the tugger trucks at the ports of Los Angeles, Long Beach , and Oakland are electric and all that I have looked at are LFP...

Moving Inverter, 100' run Copper or Aluminum direct bury?

When you join the aluminum cable to copper do use cu/al rated connectors and anti oxidizing compound such as Ideal Industries No-Alox, then when tightening the connectors wait 10-15 minutes , retighten them. Both Aluminum and Copper will deform in shape when clamping thus reducing clamping...

    Midnight polarized breaker direction

The one thing that drew me to Midnight Solar is the totally complete support of the customer. I was looking for a really good, no fail solar controller after having spent way too much time trying to get some equipment to be reliable. Before I bought anything I poked around to all the...

    Midnight polarized breaker direction

The + symbol indicates the source capable of the maximum power, not the maximum voltage. Take the case of a Midnight Solar Classic 150 solar controller with a 5000 watt array connected to a 826 a.h. battery bank and the controller massively short circuits.... maximum power from controller to...

    200Ah LiFePo4 cells BMS/tester

Under what conditions did that cell fail? Im recovering a bunch of LFP pouches and all seem good so far.

    Please Explain to this Newbie

If each battery has it’s own BMS then the current would be 1/2 total load on each BMS ( much better way to protect each battery)

How to get 240V output on 2 Parallel off-grid inverters

Are these Inverters Synchronized with each other? Are these Inverters capable of Syncronization? What you are suggesting requires “STACKING” NOT PARALLELING...... Number ONE question to ask before you buy......

    Not to happy with Magnum.

boB, I was mixing my inverters, the 22 watts is the very old Exeltech XP-1100 which does not have the low idle kit, The Magnasine idles at 40 watts cold but 58 watts after its been hot for a while with the fans running at full speed. I’m super energy effecient as I normally use the Exeltech...

    MNPV3/6 midnight Solar

The bussbars are inserted into the breakers, not mounted to the box, you can split the bussbars to feed two scc’s or squeeze in a seperate breaker that is not on the buss. I have two MNPV6 combiners used that way.

Running 90watt 12/24v dc fridge direct from solar panels?

All 3 of my DC powered fridges work on 10-15 v.d.c or 20-30 v.d.c. or 90-130 v.a.c. The controller auto selects proper input The motors in the compressor is DC permanent magnet with exiter coils in a 3 phase arrangement controlled by the logic control board. This is exactly the same...

Just curious....which model 4024 do you have, mine is a very early MS-4024AE which is 120/240 but unlike the load shaving/load sharing that the PAE has it does not load share, Inverter on with no load 40 watts but the thermal fan controller is broke so the fans do not turn off. Home built...

I have heard idle power is 18 watts, for the 4 kw. unit. I believe that it is XXXXXX (edited) who uses Samlex inverters, Too much data in computers overloaded at the moment EDIT.......BAD DATA......NOT Supervstech using Samlex. it’s ..@Steve_S who has a Samlex EVO

BEFORE.....you buy, research tech support from Victron and Samlex....I did...not impressed with Victron support, Samlex is there. Tech support is exactly why I bought Midnight.....I called them all, mostly you will get script readers, at Midnight if you ask a though question you get a very...

    Not to happy with Magnum.

Samlex is very impressive, rock solid unit as far as I have seen, they too are low frequency iron core transformers. I have never used their inverters but I do have Samlex DC-DC Converters , both the SDC-30 non-isolated and the IDC-30 fully isolated converters and have never had a bit of trouble...

    Not to happy with Magnum.

The schematic shows the unit in invert mode, note the AC input relay is in the off mode (Invert) and the AC line input is disconnected from the transformer. ALL.....the AMERICAN......units that are low frequency that I have worked on do use the same electronics (FET’S) ,transformers, etc. for...

    Not to happy with Magnum.

You have very bad information as to how the Magnum MS series is wired and works. Not if and or but. SOME Victron units do use L1 for charge or passthrough and L2 for passthrough only but these are 120 volt units that can power from 120 volts or 240 volts. The inverter is 120 volts ONLY The...

    Fed Ex vs. UPS

On their worst day FedEx and UPS are way better than USPS on their very best day, 29 not delivered packages in 2 years. Two MPPT charge controllers in one. Any about?

The Midnight product does have internal battery over volt protection built in which trips a breaker on the input of the controllers. It is very definutely high end teir-1 product.....200 amps output 2 x 100 amp MPPT controllers , 48 volt only, specifically meant for large installations. Made...

Two MPPT charge controllers in one. Any about?

Midnight Solar does have a dual MPPT controller. It is specifically designed for two separate array’s with different orientation. Not sure but I believe it is called the Barcelona, but I will check on that and post what I find.

My solar panels dont have bypass diodes!

It is very definitely damping my bike riding, Im located riding distance from the beach backed up into the Santa Cruz Mountains so I get heavy rains at times, very dramatic weather here, did a few 4” days here, but never boring. My local river destroyed its levy so much is under water on the...

My solar panels dont have bypass diodes!

My solar panels dont have bypass diodes!

Monocrystalline technology was pioneered by Bell Labs , a wholly owned research arm of American Telephone and Telegraph Co. in the early 1950’s maybe patented in 1952. The very oldest solar cells were manufactured by Western Electric for use by AT&T communications repeater sites and for use...

My solar panels dont have bypass diodes!

Lucky you, been to Catalina but only for work in the communications industry. They don't allow you to enjoy the scenery, just get the communications up. Age of the Arco panels, I had never seen round cell panels when I worked in Hell-A, only the squared cells as in the Arco M series. I did...

My solar panels dont have bypass diodes!

I’m from Alaska, we do not dispose of older usable equipment, it gets passed down. I still have family and a place there and i buy used stuff here and resell it in Alaska. Sharp has a production facility near me so I do buy their surplus panels and recycle them to folks in Alaska. All the...

My solar panels dont have bypass diodes!

Very cool collection, it appears that the last picture includes an ARCO M series panel. These were made in 30, 33, and 36 cell variants in the early days, but the most of them were the 36 cell varint.
