Goal Zero Yeti 1250 – Great platform for drop-in LiFePO4 upgrade

Bit of a late reply but any power adapter 16 volts and up, all the way to 40 volts will work! When you connect to the power input ports on the yeti you are just plugging power into the solar charge controller. This means the charge controller will take car of stepping down the voltage to what is...

    Paralleling Generators?

ah ok makes sense. The Yeti's dont have any of that functionality built in so I guess thats a no go but thanks for the advice!

    Paralleling Generators?

This may be a stupid question but is it possible to connect 2 solar generators in parallel like you would with 2 gas generators? Specifically I have 2 Goal Zero Yeti 1250 Generators that I would like to connect together so I can use the "combined" output of them. The inverters have a 1250watt...

12v Battery voltage sag under half load in the cold?

This is the meter. I use one on both batteries, connected and configured as the manual says. I know this and was not surprised it shut down. It could be the SOC meter's are off however I did calibrate them 4 months ago and I find it odd the integrated SOC meter on the Renogy battery would...

12v Battery voltage sag under half load in the cold?

I have a Renogy 12v 100ah LiFEPO4 battery and an Ampere Time 12v 100ah LiFEPO4 battery setup for use in my shed. The Renogy battery is installed in a Goal Zero Yeti 1250 with the Ampere Time battery connected in parallel to it. I have battery State Of Charge meters on both of the batteries to...

Goal Zero Yeti 1250 – Great platform for drop-in LiFePO4 upgrade

Replacing the 12v battery in the Yeti is pretty straight forward, especially if you've already done it one. Swapping to a lithium battery is almost the same process with the only added part being having to add a ammeter to it. If you'd like any help with the swap I'd be more than happy to assist...

Goal Zero Yeti 1250 – Great platform for drop-in LiFePO4 upgrade

The GZ Yeti 1250 is a legendary unit as far as I'm concerned. I'm going on 2 years with my lithium swapped 1250 so far with just about zero problems and all benefits! The Yeti its self is around 7 years old so its getting up there in age but has no problem delivering 1200+ watts of pure sine...

Connecting Heated and Non Heated Batteries in Parallel?

I'm already planning on adding auxiliary heaters to the second battery, I'm just wondering what would happen if I did add the heated battery

Connecting Heated and Non Heated Batteries in Parallel?

I think I know what would happen but I figured I'd ask anyway. I purchased an Ampere Time 12V 100AH battery about a year ago to put into a Goal Zero Yeti 1250. As I'm sure most people on here know, the Ampere Time batteries don't have low-temp charging protection and I live in Colorado, not a...

Goal Zero Yeti 1250 – Great platform for drop-in LiFePO4 upgrade

That looks like an amazing battery for the price! Wish I hadn't purchased my second Ampere Time battery cause I'd way rather have that with bluetooth monitoring!

Not dead just yet - EVE 280Ah LFP cells in a Goal Zero Yeti 1250

Just saw this, what a sad end to such a marvelous creation! My Lithium swapped Yeti 1250 is still going strong and has saved me a few times this last month during this insane heatwave! The power was out for over 6 hours one day but running some fans, my internet router and a laptop was no...

Goal Zero Yeti 1250 – Great platform for drop-in LiFePO4 upgrade

I've been using the Yeti's built-in MPPT charger to charge the Ampere Time LFP I dropped in over a year ago with no issues. The built in charger seems to stop around the 14.6v mark but even then the built in BMS in the LFP battery the has kept them from overcharging when I connected them to a...

Storing and Discharging LiFePO4 at near freezing?

I can't say for 100% certain on whether or not that's a good idea however I left my 2 lifepo4 batteries out in my shed all winter where it got down to -16C and they seem to be working fine, no loss in capacity or anything. I had them charged to 70% capacity and didn't charge or discharge them...

    Small 3S 18650 Li-ion Charge Controller

Just like the title says, I'm looking for a small and inexpensive 3S 18650 solar charge controller to recharge a 3S battery pack I made. The battery pack has a BMS on it and the panel I'm going to use is a 15 watt, 18v max panel. I've looked around everywhere and unless I want a big bulky...

Goal Zero Yeti 1250 – Great platform for drop-in LiFePO4 upgrade

HOLY SMOKES HEY WILL!!! Love your videos! I personally had no issues with the fuses in the 6 years I've owned my 1250. Granted the most I ever pulled out of the chaining port was probably around 130 amps when I used it to run a 1.6kw Northern Tools inverter as the 1.2kw inside wasn't enough for...

Goal Zero Yeti 1250 – Great platform for drop-in LiFePO4 upgrade

Maybe not made to a specification however they are made and they're what Goal Zero used in their Yeti 1250 for the chaining port. https://www.amazon.com/50A-Medium-Auto-Automotive-Fuse/dp/B06XDBLLDY/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=50%2Bamp%2Bblade%2Bfuse&qid=1642647731&sr=8-3&th=1

Goal Zero Yeti 1250 – Great platform for drop-in LiFePO4 upgrade

LMAO yes the original fuses were 50 amps each, total of 200 amps. Not sure why they went with such a high value, I personally swapped them out for 30 amp fuses as if the internal lifepo were to short on that chaining port, I'd like to limit it to 120 amps

3a? The fuses located on the rear of the Yeti 1250 should be 50 Amp fuses

"Where I come from, water at 40°F is melted, not freezing." Lol. Same here. Meant near zero not sub-zero

Storing and Discharging LiFePO4 at near freezing?

So I know CHARGING a LiFePO4 battery at near freezing (40°F) to freezing is a very bad thing and should never be done. However is DISCHARGING a LiFePO4 battery at near freezing (40°F) to freezing bad for them? How about storing them at 40°F or below? To add on, the batteries in question are 2...

    GZ Yeti inverter swap

The inverter in the Goal Zero Yeti 1250 isn't really removable and definetely isn't replaceable from what I can tell. I upgraded my Yeti 1250 to lithium a few months ago and had a look at the inverter while I was in there. The inverter looks to be a custom unit that is mounted directly to the...

Goal Zero Yeti 1250 – Great platform for drop-in LiFePO4 upgrade

In my opinion, the older generation lead acid Goal Zero generators were and still are somewhat better than their current lithium offerings. Not only were the batteries user replaceable thus allowing for lithium upgrades, the generators were rather bulky so adding stuff like a shunt meter for...

FOR SALE: 3000 Watt NPower Inverter and 100Ah 12V Deep Cycle Battery

For Sale I have a NPower 4573000 3000 Watt Modified Sine Wave 12V inverter. Here is a link to the manual and a Walmart listing as this inverter is no longer sold. Inverter was purchased new around December of 2018 and used no more than 5 or 6 times. In excellent condition and fully functional...

Goal Zero Yeti 1250 – Great platform for drop-in LiFePO4 upgrade

As a matter of fact I just upgraded my yeti 1250 to LiFePO4! Basically from what I've learned and now experienced, because the batteries being used in the yeti's are AGM deep cycles, their charge voltage works great for LFP (LiFePO4). The max charge the yeti will give a AGM battery is right...

Goal Zero Yeti 1250 – Great platform for drop-in LiFePO4 upgrade

So I have a question on all this. I have a yeti 1250 I would love to, at the very least, lighten up but still use. It is currently being used out in my workshop combined with a 90 watt solar panel to run the lighting and electrical in the shop. I've been looking into upgrading to a LiFePo4...
