    MPPSolar LV2424 Newbie questions..

Sounds to me like a universal problem ( same in my world of vmax lead acid batteries). Some further feed back would be good. I divided a 12v system ( 300 watt harbor freight and Marine 12 v that has been very consistent with lights and charging for the last 3 year only if a larger 24v mppt...

I have 2s3p for the 355watt panels. Vmax ah 4s2p = 400ah 24v system So, with two 12v chargers I am charging 2@ 12 volt batteries. Good C rate and no explosive Archs. I blew a 100 amp fuse ( battery Bank hot )somehow last week and didn't catch it in time. I am not sure how the mppt would "...

I have never worked with the software. XML I wonder what the code looks like. Soon we should be able to talk to it to load XML values . It must be JAVA. Or C.. I plan on buying another 24 and a 48 lv. I am only half way there. Thx again.

Great. I don't see why the panels can't do a charge . I will work tomorrow.thanks for your time.

I will try tomorrows sun; but, today the pv never produced watts but, it shows like 90 volts from the panels

Right on, I have a 12v charger on the mppt minus the neg battery post and the 24v mppt is running " bypass ( no charging ) just 120 output; and, I have another 12 v charger on the 24v 400 amp hr lead acid battery bank. How many years will it take the 9 amp charger to charge her up? I was...

    Mppt2424lv

My 24 v mppt worked fine for several years. I ran into a low battery situation . The 400 amp hr bank ( lead acid) must be at 15 v ( meter got stolen so not sure ) but, I disconnected all the loads and the pv input and the 120 v from the grid won't turn on the mppt.

    MPP VOLTS and poor performance

How much power do these lights use? 100w of light would cost you 2.4kwh per day Actually, all the lights are in a 12 volts 3p 400 ah battery bank powered by a 300 watt harbor freight system and a 24 step down regulator that has maintained a 14 volt charge for several years now. I hope to get...

    MPP VOLTS and poor performance

Hello, all; I am trying to understand watts and volts from a 2,2 kw, 2s3p PV array energizing MPP that maintains a 400 AH ,24 volt battery pack. First, I have a emergency low light ( trailer taillights) system to illuminate 6 rooms. Additionally, I have a dozen bright LED lights...

    MPP VOLTS and poor performance

That's good to know. To coin a phrase " the future will be much brighter". Right now I have the MPP utility charging throughout the night; so, I start each day with 27.8 +- . I appreciate you evaluation. It confirms that the system is working according to the terrible conditions. I think that...

    MPP VOLTS and poor performance

Yep. I'm lucky to have any output. When the neighbors trees are gone I will set a footing and kick those panels out a little and the numbers should be 100 times better. Thanks again.

    MPP VOLTS and poor performance

Lol, overpanelling is an understatement. That's good news. I won't condemn the panels yet. Soon , ($$$ dependent) I will kick those panels out and soon the neighbors trees will be totally gone. Then I will repeat a second MPP and put a couple kw on the roof; but, for now , your right lol...

    MPP VOLTS and poor performance

I will show pictures that will explain the poor paneling. The next move is to put them on the flat roof. But , the outputs seem way low; but, the winter angle does help. Now the MPP is utility charging throughout the night ; but even with the panels a averaging a out 60 v through out the day...

    MPP VOLTS and poor performance

Question: I have 3 strings and each and I have never seen the PV volts at the MPP ever go above 80 volts total. First , the three strings are in a definite " temporary overpanling " setup; meaning, lots of trees and panels are perpendicular; but, the sun is low for winter and all the panels...

    Mpp and lock rotor amps

Thanks for all the feedback. It is sounding like extension cords and power strips are the norm for AC output; so , I will run a power strip for smaller loads and wire in a separate output plug to energize the 1 amp refrigerator; unless having 2@ AC outputs from the inverter is a bad thing...

I just have always learned not to run fridge on a extension chord and I have seen those power strips catch fire.

    Mpp and lock rotor amps

Interesting DC current inverter stuff. I am not clear on the difference between The use of vac when it comes to talking about volts; so, I would assume I could fuse the wire for the frig to protect the wire if the compressor locks up; and, I guess that the inverter surge system will have to...

    Mpp and lock rotor amps

Lock rotor amps. I am writing today to explore options concerning the " all in one mpp" Although, my ac output is minimal right now it is set up to run off of a metal bus bar; And, it runs a radio, chargers and small loads. Now, I have not tried to run a 1 amp fridge; but, it may...

    AC Input/Output setup

Right, I don't need to mess with the service ; not yet anyway and, when and if that time comes I will have to get an electrician because grid tie and subpanel issues are unforgiving if not totally sound. Correct, a split phase 120 /240 inverter is most likely code ; and, that is probably how...

PV panels and grounding rods vs warerline ground

Grounding my PV panels. I am bonding and grounding my panels to a indoor waterline. Is this sufficient? My decision to ground to a waterline over ground to an outside ground rod was based on some research that swayed me to believe that an outside ground may be effected by nearby...

    AC Input/Output setup

Thanks, MichaelK; Your explanation is logical ; again, thank you. If I decide to run the MPP out put to a breaker panel I would ground to a waterline. However, sharing a neutral of a this L1 out put with a second MPP out put to create a L2 in this panel is still questionable do...

    AC Input/Output setup

Lol, impressive; not sure what you have there. I was just starting to work with output for the allinone mpp so I might use the power strip method; however, I have seen those explode into flames. Ideally, I am under the impression that I could use every other breaker on a old panel by...

    AC Input/Output setup

Thanks, Is it possible to energize a totally off grid double phase panel with L1 only? And would that create every other breaker available to protect circuits? It would seem nice to send my inverter single phase to one side of a panel to localize and protect a few circuits. So,From my...

Testing PV when MPP reads 0 V and 0WATT

Thanks: yep, bad connection. At the panel it reads 80 v +- 3; but, the MPP is reading 40 +- . That's weird? 80 ft. Of 10awg & 30 amp fuse. Real Quick, now the testing begins. Are there any hazards if I begin plugging loads into a surge protecting power strip [ ex: radios, amp, piano , a...

Testing PV when MPP reads 0 V and 0WATT

Set up the MPP and connected first string of PV: 2s1p , 48.7 v and 355 watts each panel. Am I missing something? MPP shows no v and no watts. Granted, it is my first time using MC4 connectors; and I did not get voltage readings off of each panel prior to install; my bad. The crimping is...

    Fusing 2 panels in series

I have 10 awg homerun fused with 30 amp fuse on a string homerun from panel to controller mpp . The two panels in series are 2@ 355 watt, 48 v ,9.06 amp paneles in series. Is an additional fuse needed at the panels to protect 9.06 amp? Thanks

    Watt hour relationship

Thanks so much, now I have to find a ground mount rack. I ve been calling " Unbound solar "; but, they don't want to call back. I guess I could get 2 inch service 40 steel and electricion steel and put one together. Thanks again.
