    Fanless Noisless Quiet inverters

Just adding that I discovered Mean Well advertises a couple of fanless models (NTS-250P and NTS-400P): NTS-250P/400P adopts a fully digital MCU design, which focuses on miniaturization, high efficiency, and intelligence. The main features include fanless design which allows quiet operation and...

usb-c Power Delivery Panel Mounting [laptops]: Why is there not much postings?

Does this meet any needs? https://batpower.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=109 I haven't read the thread too closely, but am on a similar hunt myself and thought I'd share what i found.

Small battery as solar-to-laptop (USB-PD) buffer

I've got a 120 watt (at 18 volts) unregulated solar panel. It also has a (presumably, regulated) USB-C-PD output which can connect directly to a MacBook Pro. However, this connection isn't stable--the laptop will continuously connect and disconnect, and it seems like a risk to the laptop to...

Safely selecting less noisy replacement inverter fans

That's what the manufacturer claimed, yes. Apparently, a 250 watt load is sufficient to heat it up above that cutoff.

Safely selecting less noisy replacement inverter fans

It's a 50mm x 50 mm sized fan. How'd you come up with 30 cfm based on 120 mm? And how would you change it for a 50x50mm?

    Charging speed question

Or maybe not fishy. It occurs to me that cell phones routinely fast charge their lithium batteries at a few times the value of C, so I suppose I dont' know enough about the unit to be suspicious.

New Supplier for 280Ah cells: Shenzen Basen

Wow, looks like I need to read more closely through these spec sheets, thanks. Incidentally, those self discharge curves look better than I would've expected.

    Charging speed question

This is helpful, and it makes sense that this would be part of a battery's spec sheet. Thanks for the tipoff. it would seem like of the two units on Amazon I linked to above that the first is overly slow and the second has something fishy going on.

    BMS necessary or not

Thanks--I noticed the red text after I'd already read through the page and I was all macho about not needing a BMS at that point because of that paragraph I quoted, lol. Cool how experience has changed prevailing wisdom.

    BMS necessary or not

I was doing Google search queries and it came up that way. I guess it was the "side door".

New Supplier for 280Ah cells: Shenzen Basen

What sort of self-discharge rate is there on a product like this? Does it make sense as an emergency backup or do they go flat in a month not being used?

    Charging speed question

So is there a safe max charge speed? Can you charge at 0.5C? 1C? 10C? 100C?

New Supplier for 280Ah cells: Shenzen Basen

who, so cheap! I only need ~1 kwh of capacity. I'd buy one, but the voltage is only 3.2v so I don't think it'd make sense.

Safely selecting less noisy replacement inverter fans

No markings at all on the fans, unfortunately

Safely selecting less noisy replacement inverter fans

I bought the new GoWise 1500 watt pure sin wave inverter and it works well, except the cooling fans are super loud when they cycle on (which happens even if I'm only pulling a 250 watt load). That's going to keep waking me up at night. I opened up the unit and disconnected the fans, but that...

    BMS necessary or not

Wow, thanks for the quick replies! I noticed Will's teardown of the Ampere Time 12v LiFePo concluded its in-built BMS lacked low temperature cutoff. Is it a big deal to compensate for that using the charge controller? I was looking at this Lisuateli--no reviews, but the info claims to...

    Charging speed question

As I think through buying a ready-made battery for my mother and building my own DIY LiFePo battery setup for myself, I'm trying to understand charging speed limitations. Something like this unit on Amazon only charges at 50 watts from solar. It's 300 watt hours, so if I'm right, that's 300wh /...

    BMS necessary or not

I noticed this thread on Will's website. It says: But he seems to use BMS's in the videos I've seen. Is this logic still sound? I'm just getting started and wondering if there's consensus on which direction to go: with BMS or without. I'm going the DIY route anyway, so is it much bigger of...
