Places to visit in Nevada - Arizona - New Mexico this Winter?

Thanks for that. I'm headed to Quartzsite firstly and not in a breakneck hurry about it. If my path takes me near to or through those places I think I would like to spend more time there and star gaze. I'm looking for ANYWHERE that's not a damned wagon train of vacationers and foreign tourists...

    48V 2P16S VICTRON SYSTEM SCHEMATIC

Nope. It's going right at the output of the Daygreen DC-DC converter, it's purpose to give more accurate reading on the actual consumption of the house DC draw. It's "floating out there" because be because I didn't see the need to draw to tiny lines to illustrate. You may notice that this is the...

This is the schematic for the system I've been putting into place the past few months as time allows. Thanks to The_Colorist for his design ideas and all the heavy lifting on the schematic. And thanks again to Cinergi for his great advice and info!

Orion Jr BMS - can't get access through the Cerbo GX via Canbus adapter

Turns out this was 2 different problems, 1) The Orion BMS JR needed the proper settings in the profile uploaded to the device and 2) the Orion Utility installed in Windows can't be seen on the LAN as in the pic, because the Cerbo GX BMS input is only the CAN-high and CAN-low and it doesn't pass...

Orion Jr BMS - can't get access through the Cerbo GX via Canbus adapter

Hello all, The only way I can currently access the Orion BMS JR is via a rs-232 to USB cable. But I need to access this via LAN and through the Victron Cerbo GX. An ethernet cable goes from my router to the Victron Cerbo GX, and I am able to access this and updated FW etc. On the Cerbo there...

I would like to thank those who helped me along the way

The roads near Denver are from hell, and love to punish RVs. :D But I think they have Waffle House, so I might roll through once more some day. Somewhere over the rainbow, I'll post threads on all the individual aspects of the builds. Once I'm done with all the uploads, I'll quite the forum...

I would like to thank those who helped me along the way

This has been a l o n g hard year. As I've tooled around the US in my RV, I've tried to do a major installation with very little help available to me. Trying to do this work while up to my neck in parts and supplies has been a real PITA. Working full-time and trying to make progress in the...

    Michael B Caro

Of course Mike is OK. I know it, you know it, the American people know it! He did great by me and I feel the pain and burden of the situation he was put in. This wasn't his doing or anything he perpetuated. In as much as any of you are inconvenienced or out-of-pocket, he all all the more and...

    The "Meg" Build

Mine is mounted as the primary for the entire 12v system, and I should be turning it up in the next week. I'll post how things operate with it WITHOUT a capacitor. For me the steps and the smaller bedroom slide is the main load, I'm gonna wire the generator to pull off the new start battery just...

What are the downsides to mounting a MPPT/Inverter/Charger flat, e.g. on a table?

The drawer bottom material could be expanded metal and a couple of simple 12v 120mm PC case fans would move air in the small area. Eazy peazy. .

    Battery terminal torque

I mixed some JB Weld Marine and applied a tiny dab to the bottom and last threads and then hand turned into the batteries. I set my torque to 35 in-lb and went slowly holding for a couple of seconds as they sometimes still move a little under pressure. It turned out well. After hand threading...

Side wall thickness needed with different materials?

Do a search for key words and the Lt Dan bus bar group buy thread. People have used different thicknesses for these endplates. Find The Meg Build and look at the build by Cinergi. .

Side wall thickness needed with different materials?

Do you require side wall? I don't have any. What do you expect from a side wall? Strength? Thermal value? Wood and aluminum have been used here by folks building boxes, I think their thickness choice was arbitrary. .

One bussbar to rule them all... using one bar to connect multiple battery terminals.

I think the OP is making the difference in the little bus bars that come with batteries vs the long 4 pole ones that you make. In parallel. Of course it could just be my caffeine wearing off. .

    Hello from Michigan

Welcome to the forum! I think it would be great if you could make a thread or two about your buying and building processes and decisions etc. Links to the stuff you parts you purchased would be helpful, pics would be great. Cheers .

One bussbar to rule them all... using one bar to connect multiple battery terminals.

As long as the bus bar is sufficient thickness and mass for the current, it should be a problem. There are lot's of possible bus bar configurations as interconnects. You don't have to buy something this expensive, but you see the idea behind it? Ensure there is lots of clean surface contact...

Hi, I´m new to solar, don´t yet have a system, but have an ok idea about what I need

I almost fell off my barstool. My choice was War And Peace, Moby Dick, the entire Bible or your post :) But seriously, that's pretty indepth and will probably take multiple thread to delve into and sort all the variables. At least you already really know your infrastructure. .

Have Nearly everything needed to install my system (shunt added)(all arrived)

You can't do it. The strip at the bottom where you run this is not wide enough. If you want to dremmel a wider opening, then go 4/0, I won't tell. For your system, 5' runs of 2/0 is sufficient. That's a nice exacting parts list btw. .

Hi, I´m new to solar, don´t yet have a system, but have an ok idea about what I need

Welcome to the forum! As for the power backup - you can tie a new system into your existing house infrastructure or you can have something that you can switch when you want, or standalone. The caveat to switched and standalone is it will not help you with brownouts and surges. You can buy an...

Battery Behind Seats in Tacoma. Is this a bad idea?

I pretty much agree with everything above with the exception of the electrical tape. Find something insular and then tape THAT onto the lugs, but don't put tape on the lugs, you need those to stay clean and funk free. You could zip tie something around that area, a section of garden hose...
