    Ground mount shooting range cover

The range is 250 yards. I need to get some recycled a.k.a. used tires to build up the berm for my peace of mind.

    Ground mount shooting range cover

Steel frame with 4x4 vertical posts and 2x6 lateral beams welded to steel plates in the slab. The panels are mounted to ironridge rails which are secured to the 2x6 by L-Foot mounts with 1/4 inch self tapping screws.

    Ground mount shooting range cover

Finally completed my ground mount - shooting range cover. Way over engineered but provides a nice, shaded area for target practice and the concrete pad keeps the creepy crawlies away when shooting prone. You really don't want to be laying on bare ground in this part of Texas.

Combiner box with split positive and common negative to MPP LV5048

I broke down and called MPP Solar support. They strongly recommend separate negative bus bars to ensure the MPPT are isolated.

Combiner box with split positive and common negative to MPP LV5048

It does not cover if the LV5048 has the necessary circuitry to handle the Bonded/common negative bus thus the specific LV5048 question.

Combiner box with split positive and common negative to MPP LV5048

Correct. There will be two separate strings. Each going to one MPPT in the LV5048. The MNPV6 says the negatives can be bonded (AC term for neutral and ground on the same bus) in common for certain MPPT that have the circuitry but do not mention if the LV5048 is one of the models with the...

Combiner box with split positive and common negative to MPP LV5048

HI All, I've looked in the MPP manual and didn't see any "don't do this". I will have two PV Strings going to a MNPV6 with a split Positive bus bar with separate breakers for each string. The negative is not split so I am thinking they can be run in common (bonded) in the MNPV6. I will then have...

    Recommendation for PV to MPPT

Thanks. Those are the breakers I was considering. Bought two of them and 8" DIN rails plus a Stainless outdoor rated box with Glands. Appreciate the links.

    Recommendation for PV to MPPT

HI All, I need some recommendations for connecting my PV through circuit breakers to my MPPTs. The VOC with 1.6 factor is ~105. The amps are ~27. I will have two separate strings that will not be combined, each going to their own MPPT. I need an outdoor rated enclosure and the circuit...

Final Draft System Review - Missing anything?

You will use the user setting on menus 5. I think it is USE. Then set the charge, float etc

Final Draft System Review - Missing anything?

Not at all. Watch the latest diy solar power with will prowse on YouTube. He sets up the lv6548 but it is the same as the lv5048 setup. Actual the one prior to the last

Final Draft System Review - Missing anything?

That is correct. I've decided to go with the PERC 60 panels in which ever wattage offered is cheapest using 9 panels so 3s3p also.

Final Draft System Review - Missing anything?

Mission Solar is correct in their suggestion however, you need to be careful in approaching the maximum VOC and wattage. I.e. I only have 10 200 watt panels, 2 strings of 5 run into a combiner box. I have observed twice, the wattage reading at 2.2kw, more than the panels should be able to output...

Final Draft System Review - Missing anything?

Yeah, I wanted dependable, easy and warrantied. If I knew then what I know now I probably would have went with the Gyll batteries over the battle born just for cost. Shop around. Solar panels are dropping in cost. No issues at all with the lv5048.

Final Draft System Review - Missing anything?

Have you watched Will's reviews on Santan? Some good, some not so good if I remember correctly. Could be some were new and others used.

Final Draft System Review - Missing anything?

Mission Solar in San Antonio has a good selection at reasonable prices with all the specifications. They prefer you tell them what you want vs asking them to tell you what you need.

Final Draft System Review - Missing anything?

Appears to be covered. I've got two LV5048 in parallel with 12 Battleborn. Zero issues and trouble free.

MPP LV5048 as a UPS, inverting fine but not charging or bypassing...

I'm having an issue with 2 LV5048 in parallel charging from a generator. The generator is a Honda 3000is. The LV's are set to 2A2 in screen 28 so I get 240V at the outlet. All other settings (2A0) are potential but not true 240 at the outlet. When I hook the generator up via the 120 20AMP outlet...

    Getting Power to the barn

Ran 6AWG from the Main panel to the barn and hooked it to a sub-panel. The 2 parallel MPP LV5048 handle the 230v, 60 gallon Quincey air compressor with no issue. Tried with just 1 lv5048 but it couldn't handle the startup surge.

Serial connect different amp hour battery banks

Thanks for the terminology correction. A bit more additional config info. I also have two LV5048 connected in parallel with user defined charge and low voltage disconnect, etc. defined. Maximum amperage draw should not exceed 50 amps at any given time. I will attach a BMS to the 280ah battery bank.

Serial connect different amp hour battery banks

Is it practical to connect a 48v 100ah bank and a 48v 280ah battery bank in series? Currently have 8 12v 100ah battle born in a 48v config. I am considering purchasing 16 3.2v 280ah in a 48v config and am wondering if they can be used as one bank?

    Getting Power to the barn

Power has been run to the barn. Used 6awg for the 100' run. Ended up putting two LV5048 in parallel to handle the startup surge of my Quincy 60 gallon compressor. While it ran for an hour during break in the A/C and the fridge ran periodically. The 8 Battleborne 12v handled it with no problem.

    MPP Solar LV-5048 Fault - 88

I cleared the issue by seeing menu 28 2A2 with the unit in stand by. If you continue to get the error flip the left dip to on. This will give you 120 and 240 potential. You may also consider a jumper between L1 and L2 so that both inverters 2500 each are used for the 5kw capability

    Getting Power to the barn

Good point on the distribution panel. I'll still need the 2nd lv5048 for the 10kw. In single phase they share the load in parallel

    Getting Power to the barn

Hi All, In the attached simplified picture is my current setup. Still deciding on the way to get power to the barn from the shed. I will be tying the undecided unit into the batteries connected to the existing LV5048. My initial thought is to just parallel another LV5048 and run the Line 1 and...
