Solar panels at 90 degree angles

I have mine on my most southerly facing wall… but at about 30 degrees from vertical mainly to prioritize the winter sun. I did make it so they're adjustable if I want but never have… Mostly the snow falls off but not always. Usually just have to tap them with a long pole to avalanche them...

Renogy BT2 used in place of BT1?

    I use a BT-2 with a Rover 60amp. Works just fine.

Adding a battery to a SUN 1000W GTIL

Would be great to see a schematic/photos of that.

    MPP-Solar LVX-6048

We know about the LV 6548 and the LVX 6048. Googling 'LVX6548' does not return anything about that - only the earlier models.

    MPP-Solar LVX-6048

The LV 6548 is an older model. If you check back on this thread you’ll see that the MPP Solar inverters (and Growatt) are actually made by Voltronic. They usually announce new product before either of the other two and haven’t published any news since April - and that wasn’t a 6548 variant...

How do I know what angle to use if my roof is facing the wrong direction?

Yes, there are lots of factors, but it's a good starting point.

Anyone have the MPP LVX6048 ? - A few questions

That looks a swanky set-up. You wouldn't have a schematic by any chance?

NEWS: New Midnite Solar DIY Series - SCC's & Inverters (great $ too)

From what I've seen of the user documentation they are providing it is certainly a new high bar - so now we have to see if the product quality matches it. Would be something for Will to review!

Anyone have the MPP LVX6048 ? - A few questions

People keep mentioning that the firmware version needs to be the same on both...

Setting 05 is the battery type. AGM is the default so you should be good-to-go..

    MPP-Solar LVX-6048

The brochure says "AC Input Voltage 110 VAC (P-N) / 220 VAC (P-P)" so looks like you can power it with 1 Neutral and 1 Hot 110v (or 115 or 120). There's nothing to say the inverter won't charge the battery from 110v AC input in standby. The manual diagram indicates it will.

    MPP-Solar LVX-6048

It's the split phase dual input for North America... The two hot inputs provide 240v. Are you in US/Canada?

    MPP-Solar LVX-6048

Sorry nobody's replying to you. I have no idea. Where do the fans get their power from - presumably an AC-to-DC transformer/power supply?

    MPP-Solar LVX-6048

When you connected up the battery did you use a resistor/bulb to avoid overloading the capacitors? If you tighten the cables at the inverter you probably need to take care not to twist the pcb the contacts are mounted on. I'm shooting in the dark really but hope it is something simple.

    MPP-Solar LVX-6048

Don't know if this would result in the ticking you're hearing... Could be battery cables not tight enough? Problem - When the unit is turned on, internal relay is switched on and off repeatedly. LCD display and LEDs are flashing Explanation / Possible cause - Battery is disconnected. What to do...

    MPP-Solar LVX-6048

No. With the LV6048 it's bypass OR LV/battery.
  24. daviddakers

    MPP-Solar LVX-6048

Yes, we're all looking for an answer to that question. On page 24/25 there is a diagram that shows Line Mode with all of PV, Battery and Grid (bypass) going to load... but the wording for the parameter 01 SBU leaves a lot to be wondered about "Solar energy provides power to the loads as first...

  27. daviddakers

    MPP-Solar LVX-6048

I figured so, but you never know... Hope support fixes it for you! ;) Have you had PV, battery and grid feeding the load all at once at all? (it's a question we're all wondering about). I guess with 18Kw of output capacity you've probably never seen the need.

    MPP-Solar LVX-6048

Option 09 in the setup menu is supposed to control the grid feed. It is set to 'Gtd' by default (disable) and has to be set to 'GtE' to feed excess back to the grid... I'm sure you've probably done this already... :)

    MPP-Solar LVX-6048

Amazing. Can you give us your thoughts on them? How long have you been running?
  32. daviddakers

    MPP-Solar LVX-6048

The 'brochure' says Max Bypass Current 40A... so is this in addition to the 6kW? We can speculate but would be nice for MPP Solar to make their specs clearer.
  33. daviddakers

    MPP-Solar LVX-6048

I hear you. The manual does refer to 'bypass' though, like it may be able to feed the input straight through and out. Could be a lot better defined.

    MPP-Solar LVX-6048

Would love someone to get this running and find out!
