No controllers with WiFi and Android phone app?

I have been looking, but no luck. My solar-powered garage has a Liftmaster opener that I monitor and control with my phone. The same with my HVAC thermostat. Even my washing machine and range have apps for controlling them (not that I would bother.) But I still have to run out to the garage...

Is it okay to completely discharge LiFePO4 ?

Thanks. That makes sense. I wonder if a one-time complete discharge would do permanent battery damage.

Is it okay to completely discharge LiFePO4 ?

I did look for an answer here, but no luck. A friend of mine has a Bluetti setup and said that they recommend completely discharging them every few months. That doesn't sound right to me. Here is what they say. Notice that they don't say to completely discharge them, but is that what they are...

What do you think the Bluetooth range is?

    WiFi Controller

I have an off-grid system that powers my garage, which is around 30 feet from the house. I'd like to get an MPPT Wi-Fi controller that I can monitor from inside the house. Can anyone recommend one? Thanks.

Does Will Use an Off-Grid System?

Thanks! Keep up the great work.

Does Will Use an Off-Grid System?

chrisski, great explanation - thanks! That makes sense. I am in Denver, if I ever move to the LV area or Phoenix I would use a roof-mounted swamp cooler instead of AC, as I do here. Hopefully that would work.

Does Will Use an Off-Grid System?

I'm curious as to why he would go grid-tied. There must be a good reason. He knows his stuff.

Does Will Use an Off-Grid System?

I saw a video a while back in which he had a grid-tied system for his Las Vegas house. I was surprised that it wasn't off-grid. Any thoughts on why that's the case? Or maybe things have changed or I got it wrong.

What if just a small part of my panels are covered with snow?

I have four panels on my garage roof hooked up in parallel. It snow last night, and I took a broom and cleared most of it, but I couldn't easily reach the vey tops of them. In bright sun I only was getting .3 watts. I then got a bigger ladder and cleared the top 3 inches and I am back at full...

    Sloppy External Wiring

Thanks, both of you. Would it also work if I tucked those wires under the panels?

    Sloppy External Wiring

I have four panels with two sets of wires. The panels are about 2" above the the wire junctions. We covered them the silicone, but I know that's not a good way to go. Should I put some kind of flashing over them, or should we lower the panels to cover them?

    Branch Connector Location?

This is a really sunny roof with no trees. None of the wires are longer than 7 feet. It might be a toss-up. I just thought the MPPT units were higher efficiency.

    Branch Connector Location?

No real advantage, then? I thought they were more efficient in general.

    Branch Connector Location?

I switched from a PWM controller to MPPT. Will I see any advantages in parallel? Thanks.

    Detached Garage Solar Expansion Planning

Sorry - I just saw this. How cool. Good luck with it. I mounted the panels with standard Z connectors from Windy Nation. I connected the panels in parallel (for now), with the branch connectors tucked under the panels to keep them out of the weather. There are two holes in the roof where...

    Quality "small" MPPT charge controller

Sounds like you are looking for a small one.

    Grounding Necessary?

Which green wire has to go to the inverter. I did not that the Epever SCC has a ground lug. MisterSandals recommended 2S2P. Is that the same as 2+2?
  20. D

    Grounding Necessary?

Yes, it only has a 1500W PSL inverter.

    Battery Drawdown Question

Thanks all. They are AGM batteries hooked up in perfectly-balanced configuration. The inverter is off unless I need to draw power for something.

    Grounding Necessary?

Thanks. I needed to get it running quickly. It is set up in such a way that I can easily change it. When the weather improves I will change it over to 2S2P.

    Battery Drawdown Question

I have power 100-watt panels driving an MPPT charge controller and four 100Ah batteries. I know that I can only draw them down to 50%, which is 12.2V. The display on the SCC shows that current battery voltage, so I have been going by that. It doesn't take too much to get down to 12.2. I...

    Grounding Necessary?

I have a detached garage and I recently threw four 100W panels on the roof (in parallel). They connect to a 30A MPPT controller, four 100Ah batteries and a PSW inverter. Everything is fused. I am concerned about grounding. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Are all of my four panels working?

This would be a 4-plug Y connector, right?

Are all of my four panels working?

I see. I guess the charge controller will work okay in series parallel. I will look into that. Sounds like the best of both worlds. (I misread the "2S" as 25 before). Thanks.

Are all of my four panels working?

I couldn't find that anywhere, but I recall 100V. I am powering a rice cooker as a test and am getting 14.5 amps. It seems like three of them are working.

Are all of my four panels working?

I am figured out the "2S/2P" part. I'll check out the other configurations you mentioned. It's an Epever (MPPT) Tracer3210AN. It says: Max. PV input power: 390W charge for 12V battery system / 780W charge for 24V battery system. So I assume that it can safely handle 32.5A with 12V.

Are all of my four panels working?

I don't know what SCC is, but I will check into that. Windy Nation did that diagram and suggested parallel. Not a good idea? What do you mean by 25 pairs? Also, now I am getting around 13 amps. Seems a little low in full sun and 17- 20 volts from the PV.

Are all of my four panels working?

There are four roof panels and four branch connectors. One connector is for the positives lead of two panels, and other is for the negative leads for the same two panels. Two other connectors are set up for the other two panels. Two positive wires feed into the garage and two negative wires do...

Are all of my four panels working?

There are four connectors on the roof and two near the controller. I tried using a multimeter to test each panel, but it quickly flashes a value then shows "1." An interesting twist - I disconnected one of the other negative connectors and now have voltage but no amperage! Is there a way to...

Are all of my four panels working?

I installed four 100W panels in parallel, which feed an MPPT inverter. I am getting around 8 amps at midday. I think it should be a lot higher. I have two branch connectors just above the controller inline fuse. One has two negative cables and one has two positive. As a test I removed one of...
