Local installation, why wired this way?

great! thanks for the clarification. Having the ground on the neutral, will it induce hum when using hi-fi audio equipment? Or will it be ok?

Local installation, why wired this way?

I'm in Taiwan. This is early. I am planning to get containers set up on this land. The local power company came to install a meter and the breakers. It is set up for a farm land, with farm equipment ranging from 110V to 220V. I plan to have AC hooked to the 220V, and the rest of appliances on...

Local installation, why wired this way?

I have the local electric provider that installed my meter last week, and I am not very good when it comes to wiring everything up. I'm curious why the return of the 110V is going through a breaker, and is it common practice to put the ground on the same with the return? Here is a picture of...

Coulombmeter with more than one cable going through

I just got the thing about the flow. If I had put the cable that comes from my solar panels, I would have gotten in and out current flow. I didn't include it, as I already have that data from the Victron unit. Thanks! I think I got it set up right.

Coulombmeter with more than one cable going through

Thanks! yep, just trying to see what the AC draws, mostly. It also has an alarm for low voltage, which could come in handy when running the AC on a warm night. The 12V stuff is just LEDs and fans. Not much pull from there.

Coulombmeter with more than one cable going through

I got one of those coulomb meter that is an inductor with battery cable going through it. Since I have two cables, one going to my 12V system, and one going to my 110V inverter, is it possible to put the two cables going through the inductor and get the ready from either or both cables, or does...

Will, your current video "Quick Morning Rant: Chinese VS American Solar Products"

It is a HUGE problem in Japan right now. They even have a new word for it over there. Sorry, I forgot it! Kids, who come back to parental home after their studies, and do not want to enter the workforce. They shack themselves in their room, eating instant noodles every day, and spend all...

Will, your current video "Quick Morning Rant: Chinese VS American Solar Products"

Yes, I believe it is part of the problem. I am a teacher, and I get parents come to me saying, "I can't get them off their smartphone, my kids get angry at me and I don't know how to handle them... can you take their phone away for me?" Also, when I grew up, we would have to do something...

Will, your current video "Quick Morning Rant: Chinese VS American Solar Products"

Thing is, so many just want to be spoon-fed everything. Nobody wants to do research. They are quite happy when someone tells them what to do, even though the advice might be totally wrong. And this is not limited to the USA. It is happening around the world. I see a lot of new college kids...

    Drinking water from thin air

I remember watching a YT video where the guy said he was coming up with a system that could extract a few gallons a day. From the very quick glimpse (he was looking at marketing the product), it looked like a big metal pan, probably cooled down in some way, to have condensation and collect it.

Basic settings for Victron 100/30 and Lithium

Thanks! I just use the bluetooth app. I would love to get more solar, but that's all the space I have on the roof!

Basic settings for Victron 100/30 and Lithium

Lots of graphics seen, and read through the Victron manual, but I'm still not really getting it. I have 400w solar, hooked to the Victron 100/30, and a 400AH Lithium battery. What I want is the battery to reach 14.4V, then settle down to 13.3V (which is the battery resting state if left alone...

which panel to choose, 18V or 36V?

Thank you! Very much appreciated. Winters never dip under 10C, and usually hovers around 15C, so, no freezing temps around here. It also tends to be cloudy/rainy in winter. Thanks again!

which panel to choose, 18V or 36V?

My box is already at the highest legally possible, so, adding a tilt mechanism would make it too tall. Also, it's almost perpetual summer here. 25C for about 8 months of the year, and above 30C for some 6 months out of them! We got 38C today.... Here's a capture of the panels I am looking...

which panel to choose, 18V or 36V?

alright. on a voltage drop only stand point, it would seem that using two 36V panels rated at 5.5A each, wired in series will keep the amps at 5.5, and ramp the voltage to 72V, which my MPPT can handle. That way I can use awg10 wire, with only a 0.2% loss over my about 4.5m of wire. I'm usually...

which panel to choose, 18V or 36V?

How does one choose a panel? I have a 400ah lithium battery, 13.3 resting voltage, 14.4 charging. I was looking at the panels available. I would like 2 panels of 200W each (that's pretty much what fits on the roof). Most panels come in 18V and 36V version. I guess it's for PWM controller in...

What would be the top 3 best MMPT controller for Lithium?

I have everything electric with its own fuse, but I wanted something I can turn off/on quickly, like power to the MPPT and power from the solar.

What would be the top 3 best MMPT controller for Lithium?

Well, I followed the advice in here, and went for the least problematic. Already have enough headaches trying to fit my 120-litre water tank under the camper! So, a quick wire up to make sure everything works fine, I need to go and find some DC circuit breakers... not an easy task around here...

What would be the top 3 best MMPT controller for Lithium?

Directly from China, on taobao site... a bit cheaper. And which one do you have? if you don't mind me asking... :)

What would be the top 3 best MMPT controller for Lithium?

Alright, I see the point of configuring two presets... one for when the battery is not in used, resting at a lower state, and one to bring it fully charge for operation duties. So.... Victron. Keying in my data, roughly 400w solar (2 panels of 200w), I get the 100/30 in the MPPT calculator...

What would be the top 3 best MMPT controller for Lithium?

Thanks for the answers so far. Had hoped that a company would've done a nice setup for lithium that wouldn't need too much tweaking! Takes me 3 hours to wire up a 3-way switch... and a few trips to the breaker! A few searches on Google didn't come up with much info relating to bulk / absorption...

What would be the top 3 best MMPT controller for Lithium?

I understand this is an ever changing world, but I'm in the process of building now, so this is is! :) What would be the top three MPPT controller for charging Lithium batteries, just by selecting the "Lithium battery" in the menu? My head is spinning from all the things I have to take care of...

    Using HV panels vs LV

alright. The Triron 3210 is spec'd for 100V / 390w @ 12V. These CIGS are not expensive, they sell for about $100 usd each panel of 155w. Had to look up the efficiency formula, but that one was easy to find on the Net. So, although supposed to be CIGS, but still under the performance of a poly...

    Using HV panels vs LV

I had older monocrystaline panels on my previous camper (VW T4), but now building a Luton box truck, I want some newer tech. Been reading that CIGS is better than mono, so I have looked into that. The only problem is that CIGS usually come in odd shapes. So, I have found this panel, it's 155w...
