    Hello Everyone

I really don’t feel like I’m the person to address this kind of behavior but it should change. @Will Prowse, we have complete idiots like myself joining the forum and posting somewhat correct projects that got us through while looking for validation. And then ‘some’ wealthy educated asshole...

Bus alternator charging ‘LFP’, initial testing looks promising.

I’m getting along great. Here’s the reason. I only need 1000 to 1200w to run all of my critical loads, mini split, refrigerator etc. while driving. The alternator I’m using puts out 100 amps at idle according to the sticker on the side. That’s like 1360w depending on how you do the math...

Wow, basen rack.mounts batteries destroy a home in germany

So you agree, it was a leaking natural gas (not LP higher SG) pipe with a pilot light/igniter ignition source.??

Wow, basen rack.mounts batteries destroy a home in germany

Me too, I was going with unknown source of ignition like an electrical device that failed and caused a spark/heat. Who will ever know with the house being demolished without inspection.

Killed my power supply and not sure why

It’s best to connect your model airplane dc battery charger directly to the battery being charged (the charger may have trouble charging with wire resistance loss). Connecting the dc charger to 110v ac and negative dc 12v probably did it. I might be missing something here fyi. The first thing I...

Wow, basen rack.mounts batteries destroy a home in germany

Sorry @Hedges I was referring to the photos of the incident in Germany, also the video example I gave was incorrect. The myth busters example was what I was thinking of at the time. My initial argument was, steam event then some smoldering. All that said and as much as I would like to blame a...

Wow, basen rack.mounts batteries destroy a home in germany

Could a secondary gas explosion/burning cause soot buildup seen in the photos? How can you tell that you had flames “riding on top”? Also has it been determined that there was cell venting? I haven’t read the thread in whole.

Bus alternator charging ‘LFP’, initial testing looks promising.

This is a preliminary test for my bus alternator, Lfp charging. The engine is an 1967 Lv 549, 9L gas international harvester engine coupled with: note dbl. pulley and:+1500w heater running. set to idle at: , under load (1500w input) roughly at:. The alternator was “cool enough to touch”...

Wow, basen rack.mounts batteries destroy a home in germany

Is it possible that the boiler t&p valve and boiler limits failed creating a super heated steam explosion event without fire at all? Corked water heaters blow up houses all the time. A water heater recently blew a house to little bits in Plum, Pennsylvania:

    Growatt 3000 24v?

Are you just cooling with the mini split? And what size 9k 12k?
  22. Groscout

    One Mini-Split or Two?

Two main reasons IMHO is (positive first negative second): 1. Two separate mini split systems reverse cycle at their own intervals while heating leaving the building without heat or on backup heat to a minimum. Reverse cycles can exceed 12 minutes. 2. The extra cost of more electrical...

Leak in solar hot water panel

I would give it a shot. If you can pull it apart, sand it clean then flux and solder, do it. If the solder doesn’t take right away try 50/50 lead solder, it’s much easier to solder with. I would try soldering before epoxy etc.

Don’t forget spring cleaning! (Mini split head unit)

I would agree, air only doesn’t seem like it would cut it if we’re any worse than what I was dealing with. I’m not a candle guy and I have a full sized range hood to eliminate any vaporized grease from cooking. Do you use a specific cleaning solution with water to flush? I’m interested.

Don’t forget spring cleaning! (Mini split head unit)

Simple, hold the blower wheel with your least precious finger (to avoid extreme rpm’s) and apply compressed air over the whole “blower wheel” while allowing some rotation for even cleaning.

Don’t forget spring cleaning! (Mini split head unit)

Mini split head units have poor filtration in the form of screens that require weekly cleaning. This photo should be enlightening:

Don’t forget spring cleaning! (Mini split head unit)

Own it, service it or pay the piper later. My method was pretty simple. All you need is compressed air (not to high pressure), tooth brush, (to loosen the worst of it), baby wipes and a screwdriver to remove the shroud. Here’s some pictures:Next year I may add a mild cleaning solution intended...

Questions about over paneling and derating

I’m pretty sure you mean 8900 watts. 900 watts over shouldn’t be an issue. But you should check with the manufacturer or wait until someone chimes in with a “I did that and it worked for years”.

Docan 230ah, new welded stud design?

Nice looking cells. I have the same welded studs on 32 Lishen 150s: They have kinda the same story and have been in service about a year. The cells are installed in two 48v batteries that are currently used in a bus. With proper cleaning, torque and a little noalox or oxguard and they will take...
