about to wire up 2x mpp 2424, lifepo4, solaredge autotransformer and 4.5kw of panels. sanity check?

so a year ago I decided to build a small (2kw) system for my RV that turned into me reselling about 200 solar panels to fund a larger system. in the process we bought land that had grid power already, so I've been able to take my time. --------------- things I have on hand: 2x mpp...

    Cinergi's 28 kWh / 4 kW Solar / 10 kW inverter RV build

my plan is basically a mini-version of yours. 1997 diesel pusher MH, I am using 32x 120ah cells (I have 48), chargery 8t's, and am strongly considering victron inverters I replaced my progressive 12v80a charger with a mpp-style AiO 12v inverter/mppt controller/ 20a grid charger. I went with a...

    RaspBerryPi 4B Cases that support HDD/SSD (NEW DeskPi-Pro), [! BAD DEAL !]

Gotcha, I don't have a interest in having a 3d printer either. Too much tinkering, I always just have someone local print stuff for me. Plenty of people will print things and ship.

    RaspBerryPi 4B Cases that support HDD/SSD (NEW DeskPi-Pro), [! BAD DEAL !]

You might want to look at "odroid nas" cases. They should accommodate a pi. Check thingiverse for appropriate STL's

    Off grid refrigeration

It's just thermal mass. If you want to move the water everytime you need something out of the freezer or have it crush everything under it, by all means put it on top.

stage 1: Lv2424 CALB 100ah Chargery system running

looks great! I am sitting on a mpp2424, 48x 120ah lifepo4 cells, and four bms8t's I'm considering going with victron inverters instead, for the ability to use grid power AND battery power at the same time.

ISO inexpensive 48V inverter for test bench

you may want to list location, incase someone is near you. does the UPS not have an option to set a custom cut-off in the remote management config? you could get a low voltage disconnect board from ebay and tie it to a large relay, like the ones chargery have started to use. if you're near N...

How To: Mount Panels to an RV Roof

Great write-up. I'm following someone that is re-roofing a rig just like mine (97 newmar DP) and am considering doing the same thing. I have so much to eliminate (horns, antennas, vents) and it's got some soft spots. Gotta find a tall barn to rent for a few weeks. I want as much solar as...

FREE: Large UPS battery cabinets (4 in Atlanta)

Awesome. I'm gonna be in Atlanta this weekend but I have no need or space for something like that. I am lusting after that pile of battery cables, but I'm just a copper junkie I think. Assuming this is a setup at a datacenter. I need a new case for my NAS, got anything kicking around that might...

    Chargery V4.00 update

Just for people apprehensive of doing the update: I upgraded four bms8t's and their lcd's last week painlessly. Followed the guide on chargery's site. I put the main unit and lcd images in different folders just so I didn't cross flash them. Hp 840g2 laptop, W10 x64 fully patched.

Ali Express feels so shady - but do I have a choice buying LiFePO4 batteries?

this is true in my experience. I ordered 48x 120ah cells from Luyuan, painless process.

Yeah I've been ordering more each time I get low, sold about 200 so far. l will be passing through bham next weekend. (Fri 18 - mom 21) I also have a 48v sigengieer low frequency 2500w inverter/mppt charge controller - asking 600 (see davidpoz's review) I have 48x 120ah lifepo4 cells, not...

No, local pickup only. There's plenty of panels available in your area. Sunelec is the major supplier down there.

    PV panels as overhang awnings?

I recommend doing stuff like that to everyone that buys panels from me. I may actually do it on my motorhome if I can't fit enough on the roof. my line: why drill holes in a good roof? build a carport, shed, lean-to.. whatever.

    Planning a Skoolie

Bookface marketplace. Sort by new and be aggressive. Use very broad search terms. 96-03 rigs can be found for 20-60… I snagged my 97dp for $10k last fall, but the RV market is extremely hot right now.

    Mount Strength

I forget that's an issue for most people (I'm in a diesel pusher) -- I have seen someone on youtube put down aluminum angle 39" apart and rivet it to the panel frames.

    Mount Strength

I'm considering the same with my 37' motorhome, I already have a bunch of unistrut buy 10 sticks at home depot's website, get a $20 off $200 coupon from ebay for $2, make up the rest of the cost with fasteners. I currently have 65x39" 60cell panels, but may want to upgrade later. it makes more...

    I hope I didn't kill a cell. Ugh.

I had to assemble it and charge from shipping voltage so I could do a quicker top balance with my bench supply. It could also be a bad connection between the two parallel cells on 5.

    I hope I didn't kill a cell. Ugh.

I built a 8s2p pack to test with I let it rest a couple days. Last night I attached my MPP and enabled it to charge from grid This morning I checked it and found this: Didnt have time to mess with it this morn6. Guess I'll tear it down and try again tonight.

    Planning a Skoolie

Great to hear. I haven't installed anything on our rig yet, buy I have 250w 60cell panels and 48x 120ah lifepo4 cells I plan to build the roof out to take 72cell panels, so I can upgrade to 350-400w panels later. the two rooftop units are power hungry and I'll have to have enough to run a/c...

Super old gassers could be an issue, but 95+ diesel pushers are solid. Built like a greyhound bus (motorcoach frame) with industrial engines (8.3l Cummins in mine), air brakes air shocks. Great turning radius. The transmissions (Alison) are made for high speed cruising. Super comfortable. Our...

    Planning a Skoolie

If you don't already have the bus I would suggest going with a class A motorhome. I snagged a 1997 diesel pusher with a slide for 10k last fall and was able to move right into it. I'm not a metal or wood fabrication person, but I can maintain anything.

I actually learned it from some burners. Many of them anchor all kinds of things that way, apparently works great in the desert.

If you have a 1/2" impact you can use huge lag bolts. Makes the process much easier. Idk about you but I always carry my impact on road trips. Makes changing a tire trivial.

48 cells here, all within 0.05v of each other. Only one issue: the boxes with 3 cells on the top layer should have had a filler in the empty spot. I've got them all paralleled and taking 3.6v I'll build a few packs, got a chargery 8s and a Daly 4s to play with.

MPP solar is Garbage from E bay

Nope. If that laptop dies/gets replaced I can spin up the VM in a few minutes. Ideally it would be pushing a nightly backup to my nas. In my opinion, unless you have a physical hardware reason for it (hardware dongle, no vt-d support), nothing that you rely on should run outside of a...

MPP solar is Garbage from E bay

There's so many different ways to do it I couldn't suggest any one way. Myself I would probably just run it on a old laptop next to my controller. My current VM host is my openmediavault NAS.

MPP solar is Garbage from E bay

take it from a old school IT person, you get exactly what you're paying for with MPP. otherwise go victron or something at 3x the cost. run the software in a virtual machine or container. it makes ZERO sense to run it on a computer you actually use. keeping a VM alive is so much easier.
