I'm using growatt chargers & they do the same thing, it's not very loud tho & normal I guess 'cuz they work just fine all the time. I've tried epever gear but they don't hold up very well.

I'm not grid tied but it would seem to me just a transfer switch that disconnects the grid & switches your system directly to your house load would be the answer but good 200 amp transfer switches aren't cheap.

63 is marginal. I have 75 & eventually will be 83 300+ watt panels & need every bit of it for just my tiny house & 10x20 shed. It's more than I need for on demand power but it's sure nice to have them all on bleak days & still get plenty of power where I'd otherwise be taxing the batteries heavy.

Even with that increase, you're enjoying some of the cheapest rates anywhere. My base is .055 but you get zapped using power during peak hours & even if I use 0 power, the monthly connection fee is $30.

If you have 2kw inverter, just hook 1500 watt space heater to it & there ya go.

All their chargers have overvolt shutdown but I'm using the SC48120-MPV's & they don't mention it in the specs but I had an overvolt shutdown happen presumably from a solar flare that jacked my panels past their normal VOC.

Growatt's 100 amp model stats say it can only do 5kw continuous, less than half it's rated intermittent current. The victron doesn't give any stats on continuous current so...

VOC on my 3 string is no more than 125 or about 40ish per panel & even if I was exceeding the VOC with the expense of victron it should have some kind of over volt protection. Even my cheap growatts have that.

Might want to reconsider that, I've gone thru 4 victron 150/100. About 1 year avg they lasted. Replaced them with growatts & no issues thus far.

I'll always be building DIY banks. It's just far cheaper going that route as long as I can depend on access to a quality supply of cells. With the rack mounts, they're real nice looking but say a bms goes out, even if it's in warranty, you gotta likely do a complicated teardown to replace it...

If using say a 6kw split phase inverter, normally the limit is 3 kw off each leg. The ? I have is with an auto transformer, can it combine the total 6kw output onto a single 120v branch without over amping either leg coming off the inverter? I tried doing this with a simple 10kw 220 to 120...

It's a little late to respond to this but I own a Solinba. It's pretty good & company support has been good but the 4kw model I have will sometimes shut down starting my well pump. I guess it depends on whether there are other loads on it but it's surge capacity doesn't seem to be up to snuff.

More likely the later but a bad bms cell wire can do it too.

I'm totally agreeing with you. I just lost my 4th victron 150/100 charger from a nearby lightning strike while my other 6 growatts weren't qffected at all. Got about a years use off each 1. Over priced wimpy junk if you ask me!

I don't see how you could go without 1 unless your gear has it already in it. A most valuable tool!

Assuming you're wiring them in series, you need to look at the VOC. Will either fall within your chargers max rated voltage? If both will, then my preference would go to 2 450's. If 1 set won't, then that answers that ?.

Would have been faster using the resistor but if you don't have 1 handy, an old filament style 100 watt light bulb will do just fine.
