    Adding more solar panels

This might work for my situation but for others that have smaller systems only have the Epever 40a SCC, would be nice if there was a stand alone shunt device that would have current limiting features.

Are there other SCC that have this feature? I have a couple friends I am helping out and they only have the epever currently

    Adding more solar panels

For my main system I have the Midnite Classic 150 with the Wizbang shunt which allows me to limit end current to the battery to 84 amps. Is there anything similar device that can be added to the main cable going to the batteries for this type of setup. I wouldn't want to send too much current to...

    Adding more solar panels

yes the SCC will have a limit for sure which needs to be respected, so I guess the only way would be to add a second SCC for the new strings (serried/paralleled). If the SCC are not connected they should still respect the settings for the charging and not cause any problems I am guessing. Would...

    Adding more solar panels

Is there a way to add more solar panels to a system but have the system limit the extra volts/amps if its not needed? I can get my hands on some good used panels and wanted to install some that get sun other times in the day. This would help to get more solar even during overcast days.

4x 6 volt battery cable length

I am upgrading my system this summer from 2x 6 volts configured for 12 volts to 4x 6v staying in 12v. I had the 2 batteries connected together using a 1 foot cable between the first battery - to the second +. Now that I will have 4 batteries what is the best orientation for series-parallel and...

    Inverter selection

I've looked through the first few pages of this forum but cant seem to find a definite answer. I know this is one of those "Ford or Chev" questions and there is not a correct answer but I am looking for opinions on inverters. I currently have a Kisae 2000w inverter charger (IC122055). I am...

Epever 5415an can’t get full charg amps

No problem, always appreciate the answers. It is still too small but I had ordered the 50a before really doing all the math and having more knowledge. I am currently aiming to return it and purchase either a classic 150 or victron 150/100 (or 250/100) with a shunt for controlled current delivery...

Epever 5415an can’t get full charg amps

Actually the third will help with the bulk for sure. I need 42a for battery bulk and about 8 to 10a for loads that I can’t remove while charging. 40a has not been cutting it for me because the load is taking away 1/4 of the charge current

Epever 5415an can’t get full charg amps

Ok that makes sense, so depending where the charge is at the voltage will be higher and I can see that changes the results. I have a third panel I will connect to see if I can get more amps out of the array

Epever 5415an can’t get full charg amps

I have 2x l16 interstates that I’m told are made by is batteries, link bellow. I have not measured the sun power, I mean they are not shaded and are on a slight degree pointing at the sun. maybe my math is not correct but i am taking the full watts and dividing by 12v to get my estimated max...

Epever 5415an can’t get full charg amps

Upgraded my 40a SCC to 50a so that I could charge my batteries at their rated 42a + run my loads at the same time. My array is 2x 350w in series. For some reason I can only still get the SCC to output 40a, panels are getting 100% sun. Any idea why I’m not getting more?

    Battery gravity doesn’t look good

What shunt is needed to perform proper battery current charge in the victron? Is the monitoring device needed or is that the smart phone connected to Bluetooth for setup

    Battery gravity doesn’t look good

Yes my batteries are FLA. I’ve already set the SCC to the manual specs (bulk 10% of 420ah, 42 amps, boost 14.7v, eq 15.3v, float 13v). The temp probe is taped to center side of battery. currently I have 4 solar panels (350w x 4) connected in 2 pairs seried then paralleled, where I have it...

    Battery gravity doesn’t look good

After reading and monitoring the current change using my battery meter shunt device, I was starting to think the same thing. Can Epever MPPT sense by resistance or something if the batteries are getting the correct amount of amps? I currently have the Epever 40a MPPT and the 50a version on its...

    Upsize MPPT

Don’t worry I suffer from the same syndrome, I call it FFFS (fat f*^ing finger syndrome) lol I’m looking at the midnite classic 150 sl, looks like with the shunt you can control how much amperage is leaving the SCC and how much is getting to the battery and the unit will auto adjust to make...

    Battery gravity doesn’t look good

This setup seems much more complicated then what I want to get into, we camp from may to October, mostly weekend and maybe half of July (holidays). The main items I power are a dc fridge at about 6 amps then the camper rv, anywhere from 1 to 5 amps here and there. So far the L16 interstate work...

Can you link me to your model of charge controller, I can’t seem to find it using the info you posted. I’m interested in the being able to set the charge amp.

    Battery gravity doesn’t look good

The prices I posted are Canadian and I also live in a smaller city so the prices are higher then big city’s. I do understand what you are saying, I have a Yamaha ef3000is 3000w inverter generator. Don’t have a charger yet but will look around to see what there is available, do you have any...

    Battery gravity doesn’t look good

Hello Technodave, Thank you Tecnodave, My spectrometer is new and came with a small vial of distilled water to be able to calibrate. I did make sure the device was calibrated to 0 before first use. Currently at my camp the only option I have is my Abso inverter/charger when running my...

    Upsize MPPT

My inverter isn’t part of the input amperage just the drawing amperage. The MPPT doesn’t allow max amperage. I know I need 42amps for the battery and some extra for daily use, I hate not charging at full amp and causing issues. I rather have extra and keep on eye on SG and avid levels.

    Upsize MPPT

My batteries require to be charged at 42amps for the bulk stage (interstate 6v 420ah L16 x2). I currently have a 40amp MPPT epever. Currently I have a dc fridge and an inverter connected to the system which pulls about 7 to 8 amps during the time the fridge compressor runs (runs about 30...

    Battery gravity doesn’t look good

Would it be worth it getting lithium instead? Is there all these issues as well? From what I can find all you have to do is charge using the amperage listed for the particular brand and that’s all.

    Battery gravity doesn’t look good

Here is what I have for both batteries, I had to write on the photo to make them, iPhone doesn’t allow much editing of file names. First battery on right has 1a, 1b, 1c and second in left has 2a, 2b, 2c. before doing this I used a turkey baster and also shook the first battery as best as I...

Why wouldnt the ac adapter connected to the inverter work? It’s specifically made for this fridge

They do make the ac to dc adapter I can connect to the inverter instead. That might be a good idea

    Battery gravity doesn’t look good

I had the 30amp version using 8 awg and swapped it out for the 40 amp version. Should I change the wires to 6awg? They are only 3 feet long I checked amperage tables online and it seems that the 8 awg should be alright

    Battery gravity doesn’t look good

They are 903-s 6v 420ah each. Volts are up to 13.8v on the MPPT and 3.4v mesures at the battery. Still not sure why it’s in the boost mode if they are not charged up yet. I do have a dc fridge connected and running, I know having a load on the battery changes the voltage, I’m thinking that’s why...

    Battery gravity doesn’t look good

hello chrissky I have 2x 6v interstate in series, 420aH. The volts and amps during eq was 13.2v 23.9a. About and hour ago I installed a shunt and connected all negatives to the p- side of the shunt and now I’m getting better readings during load and charge on the new meter. Once I reconnected...

    Battery gravity doesn’t look good

The reason I’m asking is because the MPPT is currently in eq stage with my new settings, the Mt50 is showing 13.2v 23.9a. I don’t understand how the charge controller can do the eq when the voltage is not at the required voltage 15.3v. The way I see it is that the battery should charge up to...

    Battery gravity doesn’t look good

I’ve configured the settings from the us battery data sheet but also needed to change some disconnect and reconnect parameters to be able to make the changes. Does the display voltage and amperage on the mt50, bellow the battery level and smiley face, show what is being sent to the battery or is...
