How to fuse when wiring in actuators in parallel?

Sorry I am still learning. Since they all need to be wired together to the same switch are you suggesting I wire them each in parallel let’s say on a 14 awg and then fuse each one where each actuator connects to the 14 gauge?

How to fuse when wiring in actuators in parallel?

I am wiring 4 X 12v actuaries in parallel. Each draws a max of 3 amps. The wire size they come with is 20 gauge. If I plan on wiring them in parallel to a (DPDT) rocker switch, I imagine I’d want to use 14 gauge wire to handle 12A to power all four actuators at once. I plan on fusing with a 15...

Will this distribution panel rated for 12v dc work for 24v dc?

I am wondering if I can use this for 24v. It says the dc side is rated for 12v. I called and they said "it says 12v" and wouldn't specify any further. Any reason in specific why the DC distribution portion wouldn't work for a 24v? I already have the product and would love to use if possible but...

Sizing Breaker Between Bus Bar and Battery/BMS

I was planning on using flexible welding cable. Currently for the battery interconnects I have 1 awg Temco rated at 240amps continuous but I plan on testing to see how hot they actually get....granted these are only 5 inch connections between the batteries. I will likely be using welding cable...

Sizing Breaker Between Bus Bar and Battery/BMS

Thanks for the response. This is very helpful. I believe the inverter efficiency is 92% at peak. The 168 came from their manual and then called for a 210 breaker for the phocos unit between battery and inverter. But if I am understanding everything correctly I am basically sizing everything on...

    Battery wire size?

Thank you for the post, incredibly informative! Just finished reading through the link and will be helpful as I complete my battery build. Thanks again!! This armature is learning a lot today!! haha Great Thank you so much! Checking it out.

    Battery wire size?

@WYtreasure Thanks for the link. Lots of great info. @OffGridInTheCity Thanks for the response, helpful to understand and look at it that way. If I decided I should upgrade my battery interconnect wires after testing (which seems likely) would their be any concerns doubling them up with another...

    Wire Size for 200A BMS

Good point. I was planning on using them as interconnects which I've already made for my 24v 8s 280ah battery with 150ah bms. My system will use a 3000 watt inverter which I will rarely max out. The battery interconnects (flexible bus bar) would be less than 5 inches each. I guess my main thing...

    Flexible bus bar question

Thanks for thoughtful reply. I can definitely tolerate the voltage drop /loss of power. My inverter is 3000 watts and my bms is rated for 150 continuous amps but I highly doubt I will max either out, rarely if ever. My main goal is to keep things safe so my main concern would be round heat...

    Battery wire size?

Thanks for the response. My application for the 1 awg is between battery cells which is approximate 4 or 5 inches in length. It might be fine but I think I will do some testing to be sure and if it gets too warm jump to larger wire. Thanks again, any thoughts on the breaker question I mentioned...

    Battery wire size?

@OffGridInTheCity @Roswell Bob @WYtreasure On a side note related to this, I am trying to figure out what breaker size I would use between battery/bms and bus bar. My bms is rated for 150amps continuous. I am using a 3000watt inverter which I will use rarely but the manual for that calls for...

    Battery wire size?

@OffGridInTheCity All I could find was a temperature range shown below -50c to105c as well as the ampacity for welding cable length below and for welding distance. I doubt that would translate for continuous use lengths.

    Battery wire size?

@OffGridInTheCity @Roswell Bob I am an armature just trying to wrap my head around all of this and I read this thread last night which really got me thinking as I am setting up my own battery bank and I had already purchased and made cables using welding wire and my previous assumption that it...

    Flexible bus bar question

John, How are your flexible 1 awg cables to connect battery cells holding up? How many amps are you running through them regularly and at maximum. I made some similar cables purchasing the flexible welding cable from TEMCO 1awg rated at 240amps using their ampacity chart. They tested well at...

Sizing Breaker Between Bus Bar and Battery/BMS

I am trying to figure out the best way to size a fuse/ breakers for my 24v 280 ah system using a JBD 150 Ah BMS. The inverter I am using is a phocos hybrid inverter charger that is 24v 3000 watts continuous and calls for a minimum 210ah ( 168 continuous * 1.25 =210) breaker between battery and...

fyi warning about liitokala varicore flagship store aliexpress..do not buy

There is a recommended vendor for the forum which if I ordered again I would order from. You might pay slightly higher than LitaKala for grade B or you can pay a little more for grade A but the time, energy and headache you will save will likely be better...

How to attach bms without mounting holes?

This may be a silly question but is there any concern using the existing holes with washers and a bolt to a nylon stand-off that secured in wood? I guess my thought would be any wattage traveling through the washer and screw to the nylon or wood. Is there any concern in that? I know they are...

I hope I did not screw this up Phocos PSW-H-5KW-120/48V

I've been using a Phocos Anygrid 24v 3k 120 for over a year with no problems. I've been pretty happy with product performance, build quality and customer service who've I've actually contacted a handful of times and everytime they've been great.

Any have any thoughts on the PHOCOS 5kW Any Grid Hybrid Inverter Charger

I've used the 3 kW 24v 120 for a off grid cabin for some friends and we were all very happy with it. It has performed extremely well and has not had any issues for over a year now working consistently. What I've liked so far: - Operates at stated specification. I was a little concerned whether...

Pack / Cell compression Optimized By Using Springs.

That makes sense. My main challenge is space requirements as it’s going to be in a campervan so trying to minimize footprint for a specific build and it makes the most sense for the rest of the van build to have it closer to square rather than longer but narrower. Alternatively I could stick...

Pack / Cell compression Optimized By Using Springs.

My goal would be to build a full enclosure so the shared fixed side would also be screwed to the bottom where the cells rest and sides. I'd also make the shared fix plate and connected sides a bit taller with a groove to slide a plexiglass plate in and out. Essentially I'd have a completely...

Pack / Cell compression Optimized By Using Springs.

I am hoping someone could double check my logic. My build will consist of two compression packs with 4 cells each with 3/4 inch ply each side and springs (4 each) only on 1 side of each compression build. Both builds will be next to each other each having their own springs and their own 3/4...

Best practice for 300kgf ‘fixture’ 280Ah cells

Mine will also be non stationary as it will be in my camper van so I was planning to use an anti vibration mat like the one linked below or similar to go underneath them. For busbars, I ended up making my own out of flexible welding cable to help minimize impact of vibration...

Best practice for 300kgf ‘fixture’ 280Ah cells

Thanks again for the speedy response and all the help! Good to know I am on the right track, took a bit to comb through so much info. Best practice for 300kgf ‘fixture’ 280Ah cells

Thanks for the help, great idea with the stainless tubing. You mentioned I am below 12psi at 100% SOC so I am wondering where I might of went wrong. I thought 12 psi was approx. 672lbs / 4 rods which would be 168lbs per rod. My 100% SOC with option 2 would be approx 190lbs per rod which would...
