OK so I'm trying to work out if my growatt 12000 has CANBUS or not. I cannot seem to get it to work at all with a pylontech type battery. Has anyone who has one of these inverters tried using CANBUS? I've even tried probing all the pins to see if I can see the 120 Ohm termination resistor...

Yeah I think we are golden except for the "custom code" bit. I'm pretty sure my 12000T DVM does not have CAN (even though growatt says it does). It does have RS-485 but the pylontech protocol is not as clear as the CAN. I'm trying to work on a python script that talks RS-485 to the growatt...

Those are useful!. I'm not sure though how the Growatt talks via RS-485. Whether it requests information from the pylontech or the pylontech just spits out out once a second similar to the CAN protocol. I think I'm going to have to have to some packet sniffing on the growatt to see for example...

Well Damn - Good idea @RobertGreen. I just measured the voltage across the shunt and plotted it. Looks like the Batrium shunt is crapping out at about 40A....Probably time to ping customer service unless anyone has seen this before and it just needs a calibrate?

I know from my utility meter and what the growatt reports that it really is ramping up the power. I mean it could be the batrium shunt but it seems pretty accurate all the way up to the 40A number (and does report at least -80A when I'm running the AC)....And yeah - if it's dumping 1-2kW...

Yeah it's just a threaded rod - If it's not permanent then I don't think it's a big deal. I could maybe move them but not compress initially, do a discharge via the inverter one time and then compress again whilst in a low state. It's just that "woah don't do that they will permanently deform"...

Ah Interesting indeed. Two strings 16s and use a single Watchmon Core and 2 CellMate K9s (Along with the 500A shunt). I'll look a little more into that and if that works then adding capacity should be a lot easier (not that I think I'll need more that a 2p16s 280aH system)
