Help with low voltage cut-off settings Victron MultiPlus II 48V AGM

Thanks for the reply! I should have specified, it is the MP2GX. SmartSolar to it via VE.Direct. I was using DVCC so they share the temp sensor of the MP2GX mainly, but also to limit the overall charge current when the generator is on and solar is feeding in (this hasn't actually been relevant...

Help with low voltage cut-off settings Victron MultiPlus II 48V AGM

I have a Victron MultiPlus II with 4x190Ah 12V AGMs making a 48V bank with A Victron SmartSolar MPPT with DVCC enabled via VE.Direct. My little camping fridge has started to use ~70-100W (may be broken thermostat or need a regas, but waiting on a new fridge soon anyway). So this morning the...

Victron Multiplus ii GX not charging batteries

Just a late update. For whatever reason and without changing any other settings, the generator does now charge at around what the current limit setting limits it to (to keep it at ~0.1C)

Victron Multiplus ii GX not charging batteries

Thanks. It is a 1.9kW generator but was only charging at around 600W, when the AC input limit was 6.5A (~1400W) and the charge current limit to be around 1100W. No other loads on the generator or inverter so not sure why it didn't get up to higher charge current in absorption stage.

Victron Multiplus ii GX not charging batteries

Thanks Sunshine. I turned UPS off and limited the AC current further and also limited the DC charge current. And I selected the AGM/Gel battery type in VE. Configure. It is now working but not reaching the set charge current limits so I guess the generator is way too small. But I am happy it...

Victron Multiplus ii GX not charging batteries

Hi all, I've just set up my Victron Multiplus II GX 48/3000/35-32. It is hooked up to 4x190AH AGMs in series. AC input from a generator. The MP2 turns on and I can access the settings. In the console it registers the AC input as 219-220V and ~54Hz. Active AC Input reads as Disconnected. The...

    Lightning and surge protection

Thanks again for your reply Hedges. Lightning and Surge Protection have TUV certified DC and AC SPDs (Type I+II). However, the Iimp (10/350) of the DC ones is 6.25kA (Itotal is 12.5kA). Is Iimp=6.25kA adequate, or is 12.5kA considered the minimum effective value? And is putting a Type...

    Lightning and surge protection

Hi all, I'm designing a 48V system with the following components: https://diysolarforum.com/threads/off-grid-48v-system-plan-seeking-feedback-and-advice-on-grounding.29010/#post-351894 Couldn't get the combiner box and not sure I will fuse the 2 PV strings that will be in parallel. But my...

Off-grid 48V system plan seeking feedback and advice on grounding

Thanks for the heads up. Would the risk be addressed by ensuring the inverter is switched off prior to ever connecting the battery? Or do I need to explore the resistor option described in that thread? I gather a single pole disconnect switch wouldn't do anything to address that concern. Cheers

Off-grid 48V system plan seeking feedback and advice on grounding

Yes inverter handles grounding by its chassis when the generator is not connected, and has a relay built in to handle switching between chassis grounding and passing the earth through to the generator I will test whether the generator does bond earth to its chassis, thanks for the suggestion. I...

Off-grid 48V system plan seeking feedback and advice on grounding

Thanks for the reply Hedges. First up: 48V just seemed like the most efficient way to go. If we expand the battery bank to 380Ah @ 48V we can add another set of panels and another charge controller to continue charging at 0.1-0.15C. It also meant I could use a single, lower current charge...

    Design plan - seeking feedback

Thanks Hedges. Following on from your point there, this is the new plan: https://diysolarforum.com/threads/off-grid-48v-system-plan-seeking-feedback-and-advice-on-grounding.29010/ It uses a Victron SmartSolar and MultiPlus II GX connected via VE.Direct. Appreciate your input!

Off-grid 48V system plan seeking feedback and advice on grounding

Hi all, I'm hoping to get some feedback advice on my system plan. Want to thank Svetz who is a member here who provided very useful feedback on my first plan. This is v2 and hopefully it is nearly there! I do have some questions about grounding/earthing the system though! PhonoSolar...

    Design plan - seeking feedback

Svetz I wanted to thank you kindly for your input and advice! Have been out of service at the place so I apologise for the delay. I've spent a bunch more time reading and looking and am about to post the updated plan with a few questions. You're input greatly helped me get my thoughts in order...

    Design plan - seeking feedback

Wow Svetz, thanks for the incredibly comprehensive reply. I think NEC must be what I was referring to. Thanks for pointing out that I should calculate the temperature compensated PV current output before multiplying for the cable sizing. The value on the panel specs is given as +0.06%/C, which...

    Design plan - seeking feedback

Many thanks for the thorough feedback Svets. My questions about wire and fuse sizing were based on some sites about the FEC code, where they mentioned that 'constant' load conductors (including PV supply side and the charging cables) have to be rated to 1.25x the expected max draw, and where PV...

    Design plan - seeking feedback

Hi all, I'm new here, and this is my first post. I'm seeking advice about a solar system design for an off-grid cabin. Current equipment plan is as follows: PhonoSolar PS270P-20/U 270W panels x6, Vmpp 31.44V, Isc 9.09A SuperSafe SBS 190F AGM 190Ah (10hr rate) batteries x4 EPever TRIRON 4215N...
