Victron Smart Battery Protect to Inverter?

Thanks for this! I was just getting online to see if I could find a manual of some sort for the Giandel inverter. Looks like my options just got sliced down to 1, get an inverter that has programmable settings. The Schneider we use for our home does, and I know Victron, and I believe...

Victron Smart Battery Protect to Inverter?

This! I have the manual but I do not see where it indicates if/how this is done. None of the schematics show this. I see a remote switching option to turn the SBP on and off. The other pins seem to be for manual programming. Could you point me in the right direction? Thanks!

Victron Smart Battery Protect to Inverter?

Thank you for your reply. You are right, I guess I knew hooking it directly to the inverter is not a proper use. Thanks for the wiring diagrams, but I have no DC loads so this will not solve my issue. We are totally off-grid and I use this small system to run my shop 120v needs. We do not run...

Victron Smart Battery Protect to Inverter?

I am trying to figure out how to use the Victron 12/24-220 SBP with my Giandel 2000/4000 PSW inverter that runs my off-grid shop. Before the flames, I know it says, "Do not hook directly to a device with capacitors, such as an inverter." That said, I saw in one of Will's videos him doing this...

    Chins Sketchy.... is it Chins?

Thanks for the reply. I figured out that buying direct was safe, but went through Amazon. But I do appreciate the 3% off you gave me through Amazon. The batteries are installed and working well!

    Chins Sketchy.... is it Chins?

I used the contact form on the Chins site and was emailed back very quickly, a good sign. The email address is from: chins_service@163.com. Is this correct? The reason I ask is that I contacted them as they 9ffered a 10% discount on their website if 8 gave them my email, so I did. Never...

    Confused wiring a Magnum MS4024pae

I wired through L1 only on the input side. My Schneider is the same way. The Magnum also cautions to turn the charge rate down to 50% to avoid overheating the transformer due to the imbalance running loads off L1 & L2 and charging batteries.... this was done. Thanks again!

    Confused wiring a Magnum MS4024pae

Thank you forvthe reply! Yeah I was looking at the manual for the mmp epanel, once I looked at the correct manual it was obvious. Thanks again!

    Confused wiring a Magnum MS4024pae

Trying to help a friend wire the off-grid solar for his cabin. Have been pouring through the manuals but can't find the answers I seek. As stated he is using an MS4024 inverter coupled with an MMP 250-60s e-panel. His generator only outputs 120vac. As I look at the wiring diagrams for the...

    Parallel rather than Series?

Talked to my neighbor today and he has decided to go with a bigger charge controller. I'm glad to hear this! I think he is going with a 60 or 80 amp SCC as he really wants to build a good sized system that will really meet his needs instead of sitting in the dark... or just turning on 1 light...

    Parallel rather than Series?

HRTKD.... no, that was one of the first things I changed. Ring terminals.

    Parallel rather than Series?

Well there you go! "....Three panels in parallel are 720 W STC, maybe 620W PTC, would deliver 50A into a battery..." this likely explains why he burned out a 40amp fuse. Thanks. Well, I'll talk with him and let him know that the only way to use all 3 is to aim them in different directions...

    Parallel rather than Series?

Hedges, Jason.... thanks! These panels are mounted on the roof of a medium sized well house... 4 panels max across the roof. It is south facing, in a forest. Just not sure how easy it would be to aim them different directions. I guess I'm not seeing 30 amps in parallel happening. Even using...

    Parallel rather than Series?

Chris... thanks, and likely good advice. He really needs a bit more power to get his batteries topped up each day.... hoping there is a way to use that 3rd panel! Yes this SCC will allow 1100w @ 24v. However my neighbor already has a 2000/4000watt, 12v inverter so he is pretty well stuck with...

    Parallel rather than Series?

Jason, yes the area is subject to cold weather.... we are at 9,500' in southern Colorado. Aware of spiking voltages in very cold temps, but if using the 3 x 240watt panels wired in parallel he would see voltage at only 1/3 of the 100v the SCC is capable of handling (vmp 29.9) and amps at...

    Parallel rather than Series?

I'm trying to help a neighbor with a small 12v solar system for his cabin. He ended up running his batteries down after blowing a fuse on the cable between the SCC and the batteries. We think he may have blown the fuse by using a battery charger ran off a generator while the batteries were also...

    Error on Epever Triron 4210n

Update... so yesterday I unhooked the SCC as when originally installed I had no shut off on the PV lines coming in (they are fused ) and I hadn't fused the cable from the batteries to the SCC. Not sure why it did not auto detect 24v when I first hooked it up, but... here's what happened. I...

    Error on Epever Triron 4210n

Thanks! I went ahead and ordered the remote... system control panel... our issue is we are totally off grid, 25 miles from the nearest blacktop road and 40 miles from the post office... UPS, FEDEX and the USPS don't deliver out here! Being in a rural part of CO anyway, there is no next day...

    Epever Triron 4210n for sale

Dang man.... I'm the guy that bought this SCC from you in AZ. I've got it all hooked up and figured out that without the remote control panel I can't change it from 12v to 24v.... I am guessing you set it to 12v via the remote? Oh well, I guess I will need to buy a remote for it... other than...

    Error on Epever Triron 4210n

Gnubie.... really? No way to set for 24v via the device screen? I bought this used.... it was too small for the PO who figured that out after he had hooked it up, so he bought the another Epever SCC and kept the remote panel. I know he was running 12v system as he told me he had 800W of PV...

    Error on Epever Triron 4210n

No.... hooked the batteries up first, then turned on the panels. If this SCC assumes 12v, I can't see in the book, or cycling through the menu where to tell it I'm running 24v. It does appear to be thinking I'm running 12v. Hoping someone with a similar controller can clue me in.

    Error on Epever Triron 4210n

I just hooked up this Epever Triron 4210n and I'm getting a flashing green battery light as well as a flashing "!" . The book under troubleshooting lists this combination as battery over charge. I'm using 4x6v - seriesed to 24v, GC2 FLA batteries. I set the battery type to FLA, so assume...

    Magnum Inverter Swap

Sojourner.... good to know! I spoke with my neighbor today to let him know I was going to come by and have a look at the settings. He is using an Outback SCC so it is not connected to the ME-ARC. The worst would only be that the inverter/charger is running on default settings.... and since...

Thanks! I will go take a look at it but looking at the Magnum ARC manual, the settings are stored there.

    Magnum Inverter Swap

Hedges... the inverter may retain the settings but I swapped out the old for a new one. Can I assume the settings went away with the old inverter..... or are they also stored in the ARC? If only stored on the inverter, then I probably need to go check the settings, correct? I did check that...

    Magnum Inverter Swap

"Does the Magnum or the ARC have a coin battery installed to maintain memory?" Not that I know of. I do know that when the power from the battery bank is switched off the ARC shuts off as well. I think you are right. I guess I need to go look through the setup and see if I need to adjust...

    Magnum Inverter Swap

I just changed out a failed Magnum Energy MS4448AE Inverter/charger with a nearly identical inverter/charger, Magnum Energy MS4448PAE. The only difference being the new one can be parralled. Hooked it back up to the ME-ARC50 Advanced Remote Control. Went through the start up procedure and all...

    Schneider 60/150 Blacked Out?

Well.... I found the problem... I did go ahead and install the 40amp breaker just before the charger controller, but the combined input from my 3 strings was not what was making the previous 30amp breaker trip. It was a rookie mistake. When I popped the cover off the breaker box for the MPPT...

    Schneider 60/150 Blacked Out?

This is the 40amp breaker I just ordered... the 30 is the same: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BSYST96/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The system was designed by a solar engineer at NAWS, he basically told me the same thing.... probably would be ok just changing the...

    Schneider 60/150 Blacked Out?

Good information! My breakers are all Midnite Solar, I assume they are thermal/magnetic. They are rated to carry 100% of the rated capacity. This time of year the thunderstorms roll through pretty much every day so we have "full sun breaks" and I think it is in one of these that I have...

    Schneider 60/150 Blacked Out?

Hedges... thanks! Definitely a possibility except the two strings on the roof are primary and since the roof is at a 12/12 pitch - 45* not going to go up there and make changes. At this time of the year I have a lot if shading on the third string, it only has good direct sun from about 12 noon...

    Schneider 60/150 Blacked Out?

So talked to my solar engineer this is what he wrote back. With three strings of panels now in parallel, the controller’s input breaker sizing would look like this (8.68A + 8.68A + 8.85A)*1.25 = 32.76A The 25% is a safety which is used to actually size the breaker. So this is technically over...

    Schneider 60/150 Blacked Out?

Hedges... thanks for the reply. Yes the new string are the same panels. The calculations I show is for all the panels including the three new ones. Originally 3s2p, now 3s3p...9 panels total, only 3 in series. Yes.... -0.3% per degree C, I believe. I have the new string turned off so don't...

    Schneider 60/150 Blacked Out?

Anybody? Did adding these new panels at the combiner box increase my voltage beyond the 150vdc the SCC is rated for? Or , as I believed, just opted the amperage? Thanks!
