    JBD BMS settings

Thanks for the long post Seagal, I have a very basic inverter and it doesn't have the cut off function but Il do my best to update the settings as suggested

    JBD BMS settings

Hi all 4S 200ah lifepo4 cells (sinopoly) with JBD100A BMS. Charged with solar (MPPT allegedly) Im after some advice regarding the tweaking of the BMS (overkill app, but JBD BMS) settings. I've attached: 1) current settings 2) cell undervoltage alarm from last week (delta 0.078v) general...

how to best maximise capacity after top balance

Thanks all. Unfortunately I overcharged my 2nd batch (set DC power supply to 3.6) but when i measured it with a meter on the battery terminals it was 3.69.. Amp draw was about 0.3amp and it was possibly about an hour it sat past 3.5v. Hopefully it hasnt damaged it too much. Im thinking of...

how to best maximise capacity after top balance

Thanks for your responses, i am building 2 banks (probably used the wrong terminology above). I think it is 8S, 2P (2x separate BMS). Would arranging them based on resting cell voltage so there is least deviation be a similar thing or would it not be indicative of capacity?

how to best maximise capacity after top balance

Hi all I am building a 2x 8S battery banks using 16x 3.2v 320ah cells. (8S,2P) I have top balanced half the cells doing the following: series charge in 8s configuration to 28v, then parallel them to 3.6v (my DC power supply only shows to 1 decimal point so didnt do up to 3.65v) until the DC...

    vibration in a van

hi all Im looking for some best practice guide lines in terms of mounting the physical cells for anti-vibration in a van. The cells I am using are the blue aluminium/plastic cased ones. My system would be a 8S2P 320ah 24v cell system. In my van I have 1" polyiso floor with 1/4" plywood over...

    Solar Panel mounts

Any suggestions for a 'safety tether'? I've put in 8x m8 stainless steel couplers/coupling nuts into the roof gutter of my van. I was originally going to install crossbars and mount my solar panel in the traditional way, however - due to the curvature of the roof, the solar panel will be quite...

    auxiliary 12v loads on a 24v system

Hi y'all My main solar system in my sprinter van will be a 24v system. From there it will feed into my AC system through a big inverter. However I have a few small loads that run off on 12v. The 24v system is 2x banks of 320A lifepo4 cells in 8S with a JBD BMS. But the piggy back system...

    BMS questions

I haven't really used it yet only a 4s BMS for charging up the batteries to top balance but the standard android BT "xiaoxiang" app is pretty glitchy/poor.

    BMS questions

I went with 2x 8s in 24v. I have a JBD LCD monitor for each 8s bank. I also got a jbd 12v 120a BMS for my original 200ah sinopoly cells which Il use the bt module with. Here's the jbd LCD I used in testing (in 4s to charge them up for top balancing). It has blue green to show the highest and...

    Top balancing and charging

Is there a way I should pack the 8s cells? Should I put low ones together and high ones together? If I ordered them 1-16 in terms of the initial voltage I got when each batch of 4s cut out from the BMS should I put battery 1-8 together and then 9-16 or does it not matter that much

    Top balancing and charging

Thanks. I've put them all into parallel now. Sitting at about 3.40v. I've set my DC bench supply to 3.6v and it's drawing about 8A. What do I do once they've all reached 3.55-3.65v? Do I disconnect them all? Then measure voltage after a day or so

    Top balancing and charging

Hi I ordered 16x 320ah cells liitokala from AliExpress I'm in the process of trying to charge them. I plan on doing 2x 8s 24v banks but I'm charging them with a 12v charger first in 4s with a JBD BMS. Here are the voltages so far before they got cut off from the BMS. When they arrived they...

    BMS questions

You're right Mike the alternator in the sprinter is too smart with all these sensors so if I were to simply disconnect the alternator it'd probably give me a few check engine codes.

    BMS questions

So I charged up the lifepo4 cells again to 3.63v in parallel. They've sat disconnected from parallel for a day and the voltages are 3.56,3.57,3.58 and 3.59 .. strange

Ok thanks I'll charge them back up and then remove the paralleling leads and measure them after a day or so

    BMS questions

Hi all, I charged up the winston sinopoly batteries in parallel to 3.60v and left them for a few days and they're at 3.40v now (still in parallel). I will attempt to charge them back to 3.60v a few times and see if they improve. The batteries also came with a BMS! But no manual or anything as...

    BMS questions

Thanks my sprinter is an OM651 2.1L which is 128 cubic inch. Double that is 256amps. It never drops below freezing so hopefully it works with 200A. Good news I measured the voltage of my lifepo4 Winston cells and they are all 3.33 ior 3.32. will do as mentioned in the above and see how they go

    BMS questions

But even with 142 amps (1.7kw, at 12v = 142A), that is less than 1C. Am I missing something there? Are my calculations for cranking current correct assuming a 1.7kw starter for my van? I did look at a lifepo4 starter a few years ago with something like 5C as you mentioned. But this is a big...

    BMS questions

The van has been sitting a while so the battery will likely die soon. Instead of spending $100 on a new starter battery I thought i could utilise the 200ah lifepo4 bank i have sitting around. I like the idea of having the 200ah lifepo4 bank as the starter. I can also run the headlights, keep...

    BMS questions

Well the charge controller i ordered is auto detection 12/24/48v But the DC resetable fuses I bought are 12/24v, and the redundancy offered by 2 banks of 8s 24v is appealing to me if it comes to it. 48v equipment is also a bit expensive where I am from compared to 24v. I will be running the...

    BMS questions

Thank you I will have to relocate the battery for the 12v system. so for the 4S 12v 200Ah winston system, I am looking at a 40A or 60A BMS. I am looking at a daly one. Are these ok? For the 8s 24v I am looking at 2x 100A BMS, again a daly brand. The undervoltage cut offs seem a bit low. Any...

    BMS questions

Thank you I will be using 230v for the AC inverter I will get a BMS with bluetooth monitoring as the extra hours in labor would be much greater than the cost savings in buying a better BMS. I think I will also go with 24v for the 320Ah system (so 24v, at 640ah) , and maybe get a separate 12v...

    BMS questions

Hi all I have some questions concerning BMS. My system will comprise of 16x 320ah (allegedly) lifepo4 batteries from aliexpress into a 12v, 4S4P 1280ah system As I have 16x cells I am thinking of dividing 4 cells into a bank with a BMS for each bank, with the 4 BMS' wired parallel to each...
