Stackable Lugs, better than bus bars?

I don't yet have a system I was just wondering why people weren't using this setup other than not knowing about the stackable lug options. I'll certainly try them in the future when I do a parallel system.

Stackable Lugs, better than bus bars?

Yes you'd need to use larger cable, just as you'd need to use a large enough bus bar to handle the total current.

Stackable Lugs, better than bus bars?

Can you explain how my method connected diagonally is worse than a bus bar setup and why? I'm not understanding how it would be.

Stackable Lugs, better than bus bars?

I'm not suggesting using the posts method.

Stackable Lugs, better than bus bars?

From your link: Daisy chain using stackable lugs and diagonal connection seems to solve the issue.

Stackable Lugs, better than bus bars?

Not sure what you mean, using those lugs creates fewer connections and fewer wires than using side bus bars.

Stackable Lugs, better than bus bars?

What did I miss? The issue seemed to be related to the extra resistance between the secondary posts on the batteries. He even talked about using a solid bus bar daisy chain to fix that that but didn't like the lack of flexibility. The stackable lugs solves that.

Stackable Lugs, better than bus bars?

Watching David Poz's video about using bus bars to solve parallel resistance issues it seemed like a more complex and less than ideal solution to me. I thought daisy chaining with cables using a dual cable crimp lug would eliminate extra connections and the bus bar completely, as well as...

    BYD BMS

    I feel the same way.

    BYD BMS

I consider a balancer to be a type of BMS since it is actively managing the battery. Maybe that's an error in terminology on my part.

    BYD BMS

    Right above your comment.

    BYD BMS

I charged it so that 3 of the cells went over 3.60V, 2 of those were over 3.65, and I set my power supply for 0.50 amps hoping that the BYD BMS would keep the high cells from charging and allow the rest of the cells to catch up but it didn't work, the high cells kept increasing. Tried it on...

    BYD BMS

Put 12V to these pins which had continuity with the 12V pins in the board, put a charger on the battery and took one cell up to 3.80V briefly and another was 3.70 and didn't see more than 0.05 amps on the 12V wires, not sure it's really doing anything. Both the upper and lower plugs on the left...

    BYD BMS

I wonder why they made it so low with such large cells? I guess I can bring down the high cells with an external resistor to get them in line and maybe the BYD BMS can keep them there.

    BYD BMS

I had one cell hitting 3.65V during charging so I'll try to power up the BMS and see what happens.

    BYD BMS

I should have been more specific, I'm mostly interested in balancing.

    BYD BMS

Mine has 2 boards, are you saying if I just put 12V to these two pins I have a working BMS?

Battery charger for 12-S LTO Toshiba Scib cells?

I ended up getting this unit https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B085S34NNW/ Works well so far, I set it to constant voltage at 30.5 V, all the cells are within a few millivolts without a BMS. What is odd is that 2 of the 4 batteries spark when I connect the charger, (before it's turned on)...

Battery charger for 12-S LTO Toshiba Scib cells?

Picked up some used LTO Toshiba Scib cells from Battery Hookup which I'd like to use in a garden tractor at 24 Volts. I want to charge them to about 30V, 2.5V per cell and monitor them to see how they respond, was wondering about getting an adjustable DC power supply, something like this...

    BYD 24V LiFePo4 Battery Modules

I would not trust a muffler shop. You might try a small drill and a small, short self tapping screw.

He was refering to the Ebay listing which shows free shipping, though a higher purchase price.

    BYD 24V LiFePo4 Battery Modules

For now I just wanted to use it for monitoring without running new wires. For attaching new wires I found that the existing holes in the cell buss bars will take a #8 - 32 self tapping screw. Does anyone know why the black wires running to the existing BMS plug don't seem to connect to...

    BYD 24V LiFePo4 Battery Modules

Anyone find a connector that matches the 32 pin 2mm pitch plug which goes into the BMS board? I'd like to make a plug which uses the existing wires and connector but haven't found an exact match, it doesn't seem to be a Molex part. This looks to have the right pin count and spacing but I'd...
