Which cables do I need for solar panels?

The panels will plug one into another (your contractor should know how to go + to -) after the series string is completed you'll need solar cable with the correct connector to go to a charge connector While MC4 connectors are often referred to as computable, mixing brands often lead to...

    Thanks to all

I have to deal with shade so have a number of strings going to a combiner box. I was getting away with 3s4p on the 100/50 and didn't mind some clipping but I disliked how hot the CC got. (195w panels - 20 some VOC and 10a) with the 150/70 the CC runs much cooler ...and thanks to my son-in-law...

    Second small system

I'm surprised that neither SS or CC can not provide a battery cable for the 6000xp. I'd have thunk if a speciality end was needed at the inverter they'd be able to supply one I'll flag Dexter at CC to get a clarification @HighTechLab

    Second small system

I'd ask Current Connected They sell the 6000XP. They make cables to order (although I haven't seen an option for ferrules) If they don't at this time they may decide to (very responsive to requests/inputs as they expand their offerings)

Can I go 4s with these panels and this controller?

I have the same panels and CC Going to 4s is not a good idea, pushing the VOC max tends to fry a CC 4s is 97.2 VOC at 25C - a dip in the temp will put you over the VOC limit 😁I just unboxed a 150/70 so I could reconfigure my array allowing 4s strings

Why string inverters have operating voltage starting at 120V

another reason Panels getting bigger with corresponding increases of VOC. Panels with 40+ VOC rapidly outgrew the 145 VOC limit of older AIOs when setup in series

    Your preference, DIY or rack?

Similar to me I got a deal on some 200ah Lishen cells that were getting old sitting on a shelf when 280ah cells were new and all the rage. At $50 each I was able to build (2) 24v batteries pretty cheap A year later I scored another 16 SOK 206ah cells pulled from batteries with defective BMSs...

    Direct PV to Fountain Pump

I have a similar fountain pump running directly off a 18w panel about 20 ft away. The pump is "variable speed" depending on the sun, from no flow increasing to full as a big fluffy cloud passes by.

    My Little Ground Mount

I went wood because it was cheaper. 4 years later and no problem with the mount I adjust mine a few times per year A big plus in the north country is setting the panels nearly vertical to help keep the snow off (not foolproof but it does help) In November I set the panel angle to nearly...

    My Little Ground Mount

I like, it does make a positive difference over a fixed tilt mount Similar to mine, the "key" likeness is the swivel bolts. My mount differs in the way we lock the panels in place. (hole thru the pvc into a 2x4 brace spanning the 4x4s - the extra boards below the brace are only on the first...

280ah server rack battery price too good to be true?

I wouldn't bite Strip everything away but the cells and you're looking at $60 per cell. I doubt you could find that kind of a deal for 280ah cells What sounds crazy cheap is likely to be crazy expensive bait.

Panels which seem a bit too inexpensive..

If you look out your window you should still see the pigs flying by delivering those panels. With claims like that I would also expect the controllers to be actual bricks Some of the biggest scams often involve portable panels As far as Amazon/product links - they're fine as long as they are...

New help with a Moes auto transfer switch..

I bought one after seeing Will's video. (2020) I built a backup system (1200w panels, 24v system) and it was the answer to using some power while reserving some for outages. I'm now up to 3000w solar with 20,000 kWh battery bank and during all this time I've had no problem with the Moes. I'd...

solar pergola on pavement, only weighted down

I've found it takes about a year for mismatched MC4s to break down, some may last longer but it's a hit and miss thing with "compatibility". When it comes to panel to panel things are OK but as soon as I run a string to a charge controller or combiner box I'll replace the MC4s so I have a...

solar pergola on pavement, only weighted down

There's a very good chance that the panels are fine and only the MC4 connectors will need to be replaced. I got a couple of never used, awful looking panels that were 'stored' on the ground for about 6 years. The MC4s had to be replaced and the panels washed - good as new
