Epever Solar charge controller false measurements on the load

The load is best just for a relay to switch other loads. I'm sure the manual will have the max load it can support, generally LED lights, computer vans etc are ok direct to the load.

    Off-Grid-Garage - better than NETFLIX -- :-)

I enjoy his stuff, but yes we are watching his journey and certain understandings "click" or previously feigned ignorance for youtube value I'm not sure - but I do enjoy watching the journey; and the assumed long term goal of running his tesla off his off grid setup - all whilst ignoring the...

    Off Grid EMTB Charging

EMTB battery is 500-700wh - thats not going to change if you charge it faster or slower. Up the battery bank or solar is the only thing that is going to make a difference even if that is not what you want to hear.

    10,000 watt 12 Volt inverter

I run 5000w from 12v, but from 2 inverters, a 3000w and a 2000w. 10kw seems a bit excessive but I am looking at a 5kw single 3rd inverter for another project so between the 3 I would have 10kw ...... LiFEPO4 pack will deliver upto 900A so that's OK however I would not use all 3 maxxed at the...

    Camper LiFePo4 conversion charging options

I've an IP22 and 30A from the generator is slow (500w use of a 2.7kw generator in my case) so I bought a Victron Multiplus inverter charger, 80A of charging - great settings within the box to tell it its connected to a generator rather than grid, select maximum current the genny can give and a...

Quite proud - ran a MTB Enduro event on solar

So I'm 18 months on from hitting the point where Will's video's gave me enough confidence to build my own 12kwh pack and triple my solar and do MUCH more with solar. This forum and the real world success's people were having also played a major part in me attempting this - so thank you. As well...

Did manage to run a MTB event on solar - quite easily in fact :)

Finally found a LiFePO4 BMS with Low-temp Charging Protection

I just checking back in here - thanks for feedback. Certainly my BMS situation was only meant to be a stop-gap, however well it works (other than balancing). I cant see why having 6P would be bad for balance, other than just taking a long time to top balance given the fixed amount of bleed off...

DC-DC ON-BOARD BATTERY CHARGER WITH MPPT

I've got the Kisae ASBO version, with upto 45v panel VOC. Only one I could find with a decent panel voltage.

Finally found a LiFePO4 BMS with Low-temp Charging Protection

    I found a screeny of my initial top-balance, 28th April 2020 - just for completeness/comparison

My camper-truck mounted system (for off grid living and running MTB events)

Yeah, DC side through 100A BMS, and charging. Just the inverter is not through BMS - as 100A BMS and inverter pulls almost 200A loads

Finally found a LiFePO4 BMS with Low-temp Charging Protection

Oh i had full intention of a proper top balance, and with hindsight could have used my time parked up at a mates better - doing a charge closer to full as a 12v battery, then the top balance, rather than from new voltage to top in one go was what i should have done. It might have been a 10A...

My camper-truck mounted system (for off grid living and running MTB events)

charging is via BMS And no, it wont, but checked it all summer when it was hardly under 50% - and gave it a bottom balance test in late September before there was that risk. No doubt over time, but the system isnt "finished" Finances been especially rough this year - what upgrades i did was a...

    Inverter / washing machine issue

That's the exact opposite of me, my washing machine errors on generator (dont think it responds fast enough) but will run off the inverter no problem. Genny : Clark 2600w Inverter : Giandel 3000/6000 Washer : Candy 4Kg

My camper-truck mounted system (for off grid living and running MTB events)

Well my inverter cut off is 12v and bottom balance is good, however the new inverter can also take a feed from BMS - so in first year with brand new cells the risk I took as minimal. Always planned to upgrade the BMS, but for now its not needed and I cant pick the right one without it being a...

Finally found a LiFePO4 BMS with Low-temp Charging Protection

yes, no, sort of .... there are 24 cells, in 6P4S. I gave them 10 days parallel with 10A charger and increasing voltages but then worked out it was going to take another month so built it into a battery, charged it with my 30A charger and then while watching the BMS top balance I "helped" it...

Finally found a LiFePO4 BMS with Low-temp Charging Protection

100 hours of top balancing (with non happening).... 30 hours for a charge. So 8 hours for your full charge is 8*30 = 240aH .... I've a 900 amp hour bank I've got the latest version now of the "blue elephant" app, and loaded the standard LiFEPO4 setting to see if that will kick start the...

My camper-truck mounted system (for off grid living and running MTB events)

Not having everything through the BMS has been fine - low volt disconnect on the inverter works well enough - DC power and charging via the BMS not been a problem. The new inverter/charger wont use the BMS either, even for charging, I'll just set voltage to 13.5v, but still leave the 30A...

Finally found a LiFePO4 BMS with Low-temp Charging Protection

Cheers - yes the App shows balancing (both apps) - now found link to a newer version will try that. Balancing shown, but voltages not getting closer to each other.... will try new version of app and post up either way. New app link from earlier in thread -...

My camper-truck mounted system (for off grid living and running MTB events)

to update my experience ..... This battery setup has made a massive difference to my (full time) van life. Struggling for solar this time of year but the cells have been great, delivering the expected capacity all year. Ran a MTB event off the system in September. Got a Victron...

Finally found a LiFePO4 BMS with Low-temp Charging Protection

I'll have a good search through this thread, but has anyone had balancing issues with this BMS? I'm now 10 months into use, generally never gets to top balance so I'm plugged into mains rather than solar and allowing a top balance. However despite the app "flashing" to say balancing the pack is...

Wind tubine and solar panel on one same controller?

The outback seems the one for hydro / wind and has specific settings for that. Wind only worthwhile if your looking at 3kw turbine mounted high .... or are in a extremely perfect location, flat non-forested land for miles around.

    Real world efficiency of LiFePO4

Well at least somebody answered the question ... 92% - nothing to do with cycles, and all to do with charge/round trip efficiency ... The round-trip energy efficiency of a LiFePO4 battery is over 90%. The charge process of lead-acid batteries becomes particularly inefficient when the 80% state...

I've about the latter half to catch up on to be honest - should read the whole lot start to finish. Thanks for the pointers! Have downloaded the other android app - but at this critical point in the pack discharge I'll stick with what I've checked the settings off! PS first discharge almost...

Why I moved to Henderson Nevada...

Try being in the UK! The dots represent places/events where I live, work and park my camper during the year. In the sunny days we just had last week I was getting 4.5 kwhr/day from ~1kw solar, but yesterday I got about 0.7kwhr Time to get the next 3 panels up on the roof and double the...

Finally found a LiFePO4 BMS with Low-temp Charging Protection

Anyone else notice the "cycles" count is odd? I'm still on first initial discharge to calibrate the BMS capacity, and yes way past the 244.64 Ah it wants to say the capacity it but its saying I've done 4 cycles already ....... Just odd.

Finally found a LiFePO4 BMS with Low-temp Charging Protection

Mine just died ...... I think it overheated ...... So much for that capacity test, trying plan B, discharge via inverter ...... using the BMS as a shunt to measure. Then I'll recharge and add hall effect or something.
