Low voltage when at 40% SOC. Why?

In my experience, it takes a few cycles to get the SOC calibrated.

Renogy 50A DCDC Mmpt and alternator question

Haven't met a 200W panel that can hit an Imp of 16.7A. My 200W mono panels are 10A. Best 3 can do is 30A.

    Yup. Battery to Lynx.

    Impact crimpers suck

The inside of those hex crimps is solid copper. The individual strands are cold welded together and that is cold welded to the lug.

    Can't reset BMS

My SOK BMS will not reset with a load. And it needs 14.8V to wake it up. Giant PITA finding 14.8A for a mobile application. Solar: nope. Inverter/charger: nope. Any battery charger: nope. DC-DC from tow vehicle: nope. I have to use an adjustable bench power supply. I just made a battery...

Roof Layout Suggestions on New Camper

Also, a neat trick for that skylight (I assume it's in the shower) is to coat it with white plastidip (comes in a rattle can). Really reduces the heat in the camper but still lets in lots of light.

Roof Layout Suggestions on New Camper

I like the second option. Less chance of shading from ac cover. Put them as far from the ac unit as possible.

    Cost of solar

Went out to the 5er today to do some things inside. It was 65 deg F outside but inside the trailer it was 77 deg F. Time was 1500 and it was a clear day. So I powered up the system, turned on the solar and one AC unit. AC was drawing 1200W and my solar was cranking out 1200W. So I got free...

    max disconnect

For some reason someone convinced me that solar disconnects should be double pole. So I went with these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B096315TSJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Curved Roof Rigid Panel Mounting Help

Just added 2 more 200W mono panels to my setup. I love using unistrut. I use the Renogy tilt mounts because they are cheap and make it easy to pre-assemble the unistrut on the ground. This is aluminum untistrut and mounts so it doesn't weigh much. I just carry it up the RV ladder. Place...

    Impact crimpers suck

I redid my RV system moving the batteries. While I was removing the existing 4/0 battery cables I noticed one of the wires was not tight in the lug. So I gave it a yank and the cable came out. I thought I had redone all my crimps with my Temco hydraulic crimper but must have missed one. So I...

    Battery Disconnect Switch OR Resistor?

Just had a situation where a precharge would not have worked. I've had this happen before. I was load testing my new install. Had one a/c fan on (500W) then turned the fireplace on low (900W), then high (1500W). The inverter shut down. It went through it's reset cycle then came back on...

Want to add a battery, out of space, moving batts

Got the install done. No big issues. I like it. Only issue I have is that the Lynx has an extra slot for another battery. That is gonna cost me $650 for another battery. I did size the 2/0 battery cables long enough so I could add a 4th battery and have them all equal length. Have only load...

Want to add a battery, out of space, moving batts

This is what I dry fit yesterday. Everything works as expected. Love having all the space to work vs the super compact install. What's the best way to secure the batts under the bed?

Want to add a battery, out of space, moving batts

Ahh geez, the Lynx distributor just arrived. It is so beautiful, I have to use it. Even made the LED hack cable last night and it works. Gonna stick with the original plan to put the batts under the bed.

Want to add a battery, out of space, moving batts

Maybe this is a better (i.e. easier) option. I have room in the basement for a 3rd SOK. It would be a 3 ft run to the existing system. I can leave the existing system in place (yeah!). Now what to do with that 3 ft run? 1. Use 2/0 cable and make them all 3 ft. 150A MRBF on each...

Help me understand wire sizes from different components to a shared busbar please!

Current is drawn, not pushed. So the small wires will never see the loads that the big ones are carrying. I have 4/0 inverter wires carrying 325A on the same Lynx as my DC-DC, solar and DC loads. Smallest wire is 8 ga. That 8 ga will never see more than 30A. And yes to your panel question.

Want to add a battery, out of space, moving batts

I'm not trying to run the A/C for long periods. I added the two solar panels because I could without running more wires or buying another MPPT. And they were on sale. Now both 100/50 MPPT's are maxed out. So I'm done with that. 1600W of solar. I am adding a battery because I want to be...

Want to add a battery, out of space, moving batts

Moved the smart shunt to the batts so I could hook up the temp sensor. That allows me to mount the 600A cutoff directly to the other Lynx.

Want to add a battery, out of space, moving batts

SOK 206 on order. Out of stock until 30 Apr. Gonna move the two I have now and put the BT BMS's in. I can live with 250A max until the 3rd battery arrives. So excited!

    Battery Disconnect Switch OR Resistor?

It is. Won't help to have the inverter off before turning on batteries and then turn the inverter on. At least not with my MPII. I tried that.

Upgrading battery pack - fuse requirement

2/0 cable cannot handle 400A. Best it can do is 285A on very short runs. http://circuitwizard.bluesea.com/ Fuses are for protecting wires. Hook a AA battery up to an LED with 4/0 cable and the right fuse is 400A. Hook a 5kW inverter to a 15kwH battery bank with an 18 ga wire and the correct...
