Help me confirm my setup (3x 16s1p 280Ah)

I did hand tightened these at 3.000V. Do you think I've damaged the cells by that?

Talk about not having a clue lmao.

It's 40A on 16 cells. Surely this wouldn't cause the light swelling?

Help me confirm my setup (3x 16s1p 280Ah)

Hi, I'm charging the 1st pack and I do wonder does this still look ok to you? I aligned the cells as best as I can do. The difference between the sides is 0.5mm max. But the cells aren't perfectly aligned (about 50% charge). Is this something I should be concerned with? Looks like a very...

Help me confirm my setup (3x 16s1p 280Ah)

Good idea. I reckon it will be just a few N⋅m (single digit ft⋅lb) fortunately I've bought a very small torque wrench for stuff like battery terminals and fuse terminals so I can dial that down pretty accurately. It'll take some time tho. Should've bought more powerful battery tester. That...

Help me confirm my setup (3x 16s1p 280Ah)

Hi, for my sanity sake please do help me confirm the correct order of actions for my packs. It's 3 packs of 16 cells each, on custom made stainless steel rack, shelves made of Cetris (essentially sawdust and concrete), end plates made from 15mm (1/2 inch-ish) Pertinax (FR-2? in the US?) with...

How many 280A LiFePO4 cells can you put in series?

Expensive and there is few choices out there? Sure. But hard? I don't really understand what issue do you have.

How many 280A LiFePO4 cells can you put in series?

I have separate 16S banks connected in parallel. It's single phase. It was more cost effective to rewire my stuff into single phase (or simply get a VFD) than going thought the trouble of 3 phase setup (and still having to deal with spikes from motor starting up). Plus I'm a BIG advocate of...

Old MultiPluses? Yes. The new ones look like some aliexpress specials tho.

How many 280A LiFePO4 cells can you put in series?

I'm at like 80-90kWh with packs of 280Ah EVE cells from Amy and I'm going the 48V route if only because it's an extremely common and still safe voltage range.

How many 280A LiFePO4 cells can you put in series?

Yes, people do build these. Yes it works. It opens a whole can of worms tho and I'm not sure it's actually that much cheaper than 3 inverters connected together.

Is it possible to use a 120v relay as an automatic transfer switch?

BTW this is how Victron does it. It's just a 2NO+2NC contractor and some stuff around it in a box.

    Mitsubishi phev BMS

It's been some time since I've stumbled upon that project while looking for a way to add another battery pack to my MIEV. Unfortunately I didn't save it. Should be pretty easy thing to google tho.
  14. M

    Mitsubishi phev BMS

There are open hardware BMS that can be used with those designed specifically for the MIEV. Also there is A LOT of info for those MIEV packs (Outlander packs in this case).

Is it possible to use a 120v relay as an automatic transfer switch?

My concept is specifically designed for like 1-2 sec transfer times. It's not really for a fridge or anything. I've had in mind my EV charger, the battery bank chargers and the water heaters I have. All devices that aren't very transfer time sensitive.

Is it possible to use a 120v relay as an automatic transfer switch?

How about something like this? (excuse the caveman like drawing I couldn't be arsed to make a proper one) This won't have fast transfer times (and really that's not the point here) but I need something to switch my EV charger (only 230VAC/10A) from solar to grid (winter use, when grid...

    Low frequency inverter

How about the EPEver NPower LF inverters? Anyone running them? They seem very good on paper and the other EPEver stuff like the MPPTs are nice.

    Too good a deal?

Yeah well I have the exact same experience on AliExpress (where I'm a Diamond member and have been for a few years now). Everything was always top notch, there were never any problems and I've always got my money back when packages went missing (even when they finally turned up like a year...

Best solar Panel output, mounted verticaly on a wall facing south in Cornwall UK or flat horizontal on a flat roof

That's US only I'm afraid. For EU we have this tool. It's kinda neat. Doesn't take weather into consideration at all IMHO.

Best solar Panel output, mounted verticaly on a wall facing south in Cornwall UK or flat horizontal on a flat roof

No? That implies it takes data from long term weather stations and then operates with that.

Best solar Panel output, mounted verticaly on a wall facing south in Cornwall UK or flat horizontal on a flat roof

man I don't know, these numbers (at least for my place) seem waaaay too positive 1kWh/m2/day in deep December? Here? that's like 20-30% more over my average on my old array

    EVE LF280K Capacity Test

Yeah you've got Grade A- cells. Grade A is nominal capacity or better Grade A- is under nominal capacity but not by much (like 275-ish on 280 cells) Grade B is (used) trash. At leasts that's how Amy sorts them and I can verify her capacity tables are accurate.

    AC charger

On my old system I used to simply shut the solar off during winter nights but on my new (almost 40kWp) array with the big battery pack (over 80kWh) I bet I can get close to 24/7/365 running solely on solar and when it gets dark and I get to the "only 5 hours of daylight and a shitty daylight at...

    AC charger

I can get 3 of those genuine Mean Well RSP-2400-48 power supplies for around 1000USD from a local distributor with warranty and everything. Can someone confirm that my plan of setting these to 53V (they can be set anywhere between 43V-56V but I won't be charging to full so 53V on an 16S battery...

    12v vs 24v vs 48v, 24v sweet spot?

Do the highest voltage you can possibly find stugf for. Even 48V is too low when you start growing your system.

    Overheating panels

this is more of an anecdote but a long time ago I've seen some photos of a closed loop system that splashed water on panels on hot summer days it consisted of a perforated tube (very similar to the one I use to water my gardens) and a small pump and a water tank supposedly it not only kept the...

small panels > big panels (longevity wise)

Mine are mounted as per DAHs recommendation at the 55inch mark. They don't flex very much even with my full weight (and I'm a big fatso lol) on the frame. And we don't get that much snow or high winds around here to warrant 3 struts IMHO.

The Lester is also 2 or 3 times the price of the MW SE-1500-48.

small panels > big panels (longevity wise)

Hi, I have another "the local bigshots are suggesting something and I don't quite believe them" question: I've bought a lot of 550Wp DAH panels a few months back for my own use and mounted them quite successfully on my roofs. These panels are quite big (89 inches tall 45 inches wide) but since...

    AC charger

I mean a simple PSU like the 1500W SE-1500-48 costs the same as a 600W 3-level HEP-600C-48 charger. The only downside is that the max voltage that can be set on that SE-1500-48 is 57V. Which is "only" 3.5V per cell in a 16S configuration. But I mean that should be plenty for this "top up with...

    AC charger

What about a simple MeanWell PSU, set to a fixed volts and simply automate it with a Shelly or some other IoT device? The price/quality/power ratio can't be really beaten when it comes to MeanWell PSUs and they make really beefy ones up to 100A and beyond. Would it damage the battery bank if I...
