I cant freaking decide what voltages to set for charging with my 48v Victron Inverter/Charger, pls help

Thank you. This was helpful. I just set my float to 52.5V. I want it to cycle sometimes. There are a ton of terms in that document that would benefit from a bit more detailed explanation but I could've googled if i wanted. it was still helpful. What is the high knee? Hi, thanks. I have been on...

Off-grid Solar / Battery monitoring and control freeware

I have read nothing from the recent posts but I see people struggling w/ cables (as always). So... the main issue I found with DIY cabling is that the Victron Brand cable is isolated and the one from the old video that everyone suggests following is NOT. I updated what to do here...

I cant freaking decide what voltages to set for charging with my 48v Victron Inverter/Charger, pls help

I've read all the things, especially @FilterGuy's resource on voltages. I previously had it set according to that: Absorption: 56.8V, Float: 54.4V. But it felt like the system was acting weird when I "barely" used the battery, which is often the case, and then it either did or didn't charge...

Victron VenusOS driver for serial connected BMS - JBD / Daly / ANT / JKBMS / Heltec / Renogy / Tian / ECS

My Overkill BMS kept connecting and disconnecting over and over again. I was using the UART usb that came w/ the BMS. and now my smartshunt wont connect at all. (the same cable effectively connects my smartsolar)

Anyone connected a Lynx Distributor directly to a RPi yet?

You'd probably need to flip some of the wires, since Victron likes to do that, but maybe. Would be an interesting experiment. If anyone wants to fund buying me a bunch of cables I can try and test it. My big worry is that it's just sending raw data, and the shunt is what parses it and turns it...

just bumping to see if anyone did this yet.

Anyone connected a Lynx Distributor directly to a RPi yet?

pretty sure it's < 2A, considering it's powered w/ the RJ10. I'm just hooking it directly into my system w/ a buck converter. (when i get it).

Anyone connected a Lynx Distributor directly to a RPi yet?

The Victron Lynx Distributor is designed to be connected to either the Lynx Shunt or Lynx BMS for power and data, via an RJ10 cable. It can tell the VRM which fuses are blown. And it uses 5v power via the RJ10 cable as well. I know I can power the Lynx w/ my mini 12v -> 5v step down board I...

Questions about DIY Busbars from 6063 Aluminum

Also. I was gonna heat shrink my bus bars between batteries to prevent potential shorts, but now I'm worried about heat dissipation after all this research, fuck.

Questions about DIY Busbars from 6063 Aluminum

I'm not using batteries with terminals like that. Mine have lugs. But still relevant info. Thank you. I think I'm just gonna buy 1/8" x 1" copper. I'm probably over doing it on mine then. Which is great.

Questions about DIY Busbars from 6063 Aluminum

that sucks. we're doing our own repairs, for better or worse ? 48v 300ah battery on a 3000VA inverter. So i'll be hitting 65A nominal, 120A peak. I should be in a relatively safe zone. But like i said in OP. sub-par Aluminum in an enclosed space. I dont want it heating up. I should probably...

Questions about DIY Busbars from 6063 Aluminum

Pre-posting edit note: Hindsight I figured out while posting this, I had not matched the units' magnitude while comparing resistances, and they're much closer than I thought, by about 10^2. I am now fixating MUCH less, but still curious what people think of the differences between the two, so...

    LiFepo4 DIY flexible busbars

Need to know the voltage, the amps you'll be pulling, and the arrangement of the batteries you'll be using. As well as which 25mm2 cable. You can probably do this yourself by looking up the ampacity provided by the cable manufacturer, and your knowledge about the setup.

    Solar Assistant - data logger

I'm running mostly victron stuff, but I will be using both the smart shunt and the Overkill BMS, curious which will give me better info, Solar Assistant or Venus OS. Gonna start with Venus VRM tho, cause it's "free"*. *free with cost of expensive victron hardware

Need help understanding inter-battery connections (Ampacity)

Thanks... I better decide now, because It's going into a very compact space and will be absolute hell to change out in the future. McMaster Carr seems to be a good source too. Need help understanding inter-battery connections (Ampacity)

You got it! Thank you. great visualization, i should've done that from the start. I was looking forward to your answer, as it was. Ok that's a bit reassuring then. The doubled up bars should be more than enough then. It's been hard to find consistent numbers on ampacity in aluminum. I actually...

Need help understanding inter-battery connections (Ampacity)

Both I guess... I'm trying to figure it all out. I've heard both versions of 300a and sharing the load. @FilterGuy So my plan is to not have a single wire between the bus bars. My goal is to actual just have one thick bus bar connecting both groups in series. So one bus bar with three holes...

Need help understanding inter-battery connections (Ampacity)

I'm more interested in the general rules of how current flows through a series parallel build like I'm making than someone giving me the answer to my specific problem. Someone suggested that the load is actually shared between the 3 in parallel, each only getting 1/3 of the current. Which is...

Need help understanding inter-battery connections (Ampacity)

Thank you. For the info. And the link for @FilterGuy (see above). So, in theory yes it could pull that much. I didn't mention the inverter, I'll update the post. Question about Bus Bar needs, & suggested alternatives to Victron Bus-Bars?

Through PV wires too. Hmm... you're right. Back when I made that decision I didnt understand Impp vs Isc well yet. That said. I already bought a 150/85 SCC. battery is 48v 300ah, using the battery hookup 3.3v 100ah cells. Only 1 BMS. 16s 100A. Will definitely be setting those protections in...

Question about Bus Bar needs, & suggested alternatives to Victron Bus-Bars?

Tho i really dont want to derail this thread, it's because I plan on putting nearly 3kW of solar on my roof. I can now do it with a 70A or 85A SCC, and much smaller wires. Going down to even 24V means I'm putting 112A Impp thru the solar wires. Hopefully that's the end of that. (I realize...

Question about Bus Bar needs, & suggested alternatives to Victron Bus-Bars?

It's a little hard to take your opinion/rec seriously with this question. A) it takes the DC power and turns it into AC power. B) it takes Shore or GenSet AC Power, and turns it into DC Power for charging or powering. Would you care to explain why you think 48V is too high?

Question about Bus Bar needs, & suggested alternatives to Victron Bus-Bars?

Question about Bus Bar needs, & suggested alternatives to Victron Bus-Bars?

I am building a 48v 300Ah system, planning to get a 3000W or 3500W Inverter/charger, and have about max 70A of solar charging ability. Running an off-grid RV, including 1 inefficient AC, 1 desktop PC, and other basic RV things both 12v & 120V. I am pretty sure I dont need a 1000A bus-bar, and...
