EG 6500 PV doesn't seem to be working

Sorry for the misunderstanding. The first inverter I was working with which prompted me to start this thread did NOT work with the single panel. My second inverter, which I recently unboxed, did work with the the single panel. Today I hooked up the second inverter to my array and it powered...

EG 6500 PV doesn't seem to be working

Yes. The other inverter turned on. I'm working with signature solar to troubleshoot the issue. I have to take pictures of stuff for them to look over but the tech I talked to said it sounds like something is wrong with the inverter.

EG 6500 PV doesn't seem to be working

I feel like the test with one panel eliminates most of the wiring possibilities and the results of one inverter turning on when wired to it while the other doesn't indicates I have an inverter problem and not a wiring problem. I plan on utilizing 32 panels. With 8 panels per PV input I would...

EG 6500 PV doesn't seem to be working

I messed up when I was testing for amps. I forgot to switch the positive lead to the amp input terminal. Oops. Now that I'm testing properly the amperage matches the specification for the panels. Whew. That being said, I unboxed a second EG6500 that I have and hooked up a single panel to...

EG 6500 PV doesn't seem to be working

That panel wasn't part of the string. It was one I haven't utilized yet. However, I unparalleled my strings to test amps on one of the 4s strings and that string made my multimeter error which means that it exceeded 10a. So the string is outputting even more amps that the single panel I tested.

EG 6500 PV doesn't seem to be working

I was finally able to do more testing and I verified polarity was right and I recrimped mc4 connectors that fit well with my branch connectors but unfortunately it's still not working. I tested the amps and volts of one single panel and found something very concerning. The voltage was 80v and...

EG 6500 PV doesn't seem to be working

No, they all still had connectors on them.

EG 6500 PV doesn't seem to be working

I bought used panels. I did crimp the mc4 connectors for the wire that run from the array to the pv disconnect so maybe I screwed those up. I also haven't fully snapped in the mc4 connection because there seems to be a conflict in the connectors and branch connectors I bought. Maybe there is a...

EG 6500 PV doesn't seem to be working

Mountkay is exactly correct on his assessment of my testing. I have tried bypassing the disconnect and got 0v at pv input terminals. I have also tried using the other disconnect switch on the wall and had the exact same results. I will double check my polarity tomorrow but I'm pretty sure I...

EG 6500 PV doesn't seem to be working

Ok I was able to do more testing today and here is where I'm at. I have the panels wired to a PV disconnect switch and then to the pv input on the inverter as shown in the picture wiring.jpg. I am able to read 320v on both the input and output terminals of the PV disconnect switch prior to...

EG 6500 PV doesn't seem to be working

I have tried both. I successfully measured the voltage at the output of the DC disconnect switch. I tried measuring the two PV terminal screws in the inverter but don't get anything there. Not sure if those are valid contact points. I'll have to get back to you on the LCD questions when I test...

EG 6500 PV doesn't seem to be working

I have an array which produces a bit over 10amps at around 320 volts. I hooked it up to my EG 6500 inverter and intially the lcd screen and fans started up and there was a beep but then the inverter shut off. I haven't been able to get to get it start up again since. When I hook up to battery...

    Thank you. Much appreciated.

    Wiring DC breaker

I am wondering what the proper way to wire this breaker would be. It would sit between the inverter and battery for the positive cable. Does the inverter connect to the top and battery to the bottom or vice versa? Does it matter? The top terminal is labeled line and the bottom labeled load...

    High vdc all-in-one recommendations

I am looking for a unit that is 450+ vdc for a totally off-grid home. Only one I have found is MPP LVX6048 and I've been waiting for the WP version to come out but I'm worried when that will be relative to my home build timeline. Even if it comes out relatively soon, it seems as though it will...

Will this off grid system work?

Wow! 1800kWh per month? In looking up average usage per month by state, Louisiana came in at number 1 with 1273kWh. It's hard to believe that with an efficient home you'd be putting number 1 to shame. That being said, I'm not saying you're wrong because I don't have numbers myself. The...

Will this off grid system work?

Thanks for your response MisterSandals. Would something like this workout? 2 x SUNPOWER® E-Series Commercial | E20-435-COM and 1 x SUNPOWER® E-Series Commercial | E20-327-COM in series in 3P My understanding is the series would be 236.1 Voc, 5.97A and 1197W. 3 in parallel would be 236.1 Voc...

Will this off grid system work?

Taking your question into consideration, I took some time to brush up on my understanding and try and plan something out. If I put 3 panels in series that would result in 256.8 Voc, 5.97A and 1305W. I think if I put 3 of of those series in parallel that would result in 256.8 Voc, 17.91A, and...

Will this off grid system work?

I'm totally new to solar and trying to learn as much as I can about it. My hope is to come up with a system that will be able to power a 2800 sq ft off grid home in Tennessee. The home is in early stages of being built and we are new to the state so I'm very fuzzy on what my power usage is...
