Has anyone tested the Gyll / EG4 LifePo4 batteries

I have 6 of these 48v GYLL batteries and am just about done wiring up the rest of my components but I don't have a manual for the batteries and the link on S. S. doesn't do anything. I spoke to Adam at S. S. but he wasn't any help. Would you be kind enough to share any info on the batteries...

Growatt 48V SPF 5000 US 120/240volt for North America

Yes, my mistake. If I could return them I would, but I haven't heard of anyone having issues with the S.S. modified units. I follow David Poz who's been using 2 of them for quite some time without issues. Hopefully, prayerfully, they will work fine for me too. Hope to put them in service...

Growatt 48V SPF 5000 US 120/240volt for North America

Bud, I check with SS and they said yes, the GND to L connection was removed. I asked if it was ok to send the GND on the output side of the inverter to the main service panel where the electricians would likely bond it with N and they said that would be fine. I checked the resistance between...

Growatt 48V SPF 5000 US 120/240volt for North America

Thank you very much for the input. I understand that there are many options out there but since I already have two of these inverters and two auto-transformers, I can't really afford to buy replacement components. I'm praying that with the helpful advice of others on this forum and what I've...

Growatt 48V SPF 5000 US 120/240volt for North America

Just got off the phone with tech support at S.S. Matt confirmed what you said and sent me an email with a schematic of how the 5k's should be wired in at least one application. I feel a lot better but will still check for resistance between N and GND as I bought these inverters several months...

Growatt 48V SPF 5000 US 120/240volt for North America

I bought them from Signature Solar, but they are hesitant to offer wiring advice. I may call them tomorrow to see what they say about the video they posted, where the GND is not hooked up to anything out of the GW. To answer your question about checking resistance from N to GND, no, I haven't...

Growatt 48V SPF 5000 US 120/240volt for North America

Samsonite, I have two of these SPF 5000 ES inverters and, just in case one goes down, I have 2 of the Solaredge autotransformers. Just mounted those 4 components as of a couple of days ago, but since then I'm hearing of a somewhat concerning issue with these inverters. Apparently, the output...

Suggestions on fuse box and subpanel

Thanks for commenting. The two Growatt spf5000 inverter chargers can each accept 450vdc so with my 32 370 watt panels I must parallel 2 strings of 8 to each inverter. I believe the combiner box from MN solar will do the trick. I should be ready to try it next week.

Thanks for your reply. I did purchase that unit and should be ready to install it in the next week, God willing.

    Social distancing for solar panels

Thanks for your reply. I really appreciate it. I think I’ll call signature solar to see if they have any input as well.

    Social distancing for solar panels

The solar ground mount is up and we're just about ready to place the 32 panels in 4 rows of 8, but I can't find any documentation that spells out the proper spacing between each panel on the E. and W. sides. The N. to S. sides have bolts that fit between the panels and when tightened down they...

Suggestions on fuse box and subpanel

Unless I'm mistaken, it looks like the MNPV4 is designed to combine 4 strings into 1. That's not what I'm trying to do. Thanks anyway.

Suggestions on fuse box and subpanel

I probably wasn't clear...I'm currently assembling my array. It consists of 32 360 watt panels. I have 2 5kw Growatt inverter/chargers. I will parallel 2 strings of 8 panels into each inverter. I'm looking for a box that will allow me to combine 4 strings into 2, have fusing for each string...

Suggestions on fuse box and subpanel

Thanks for your reply. I'm a bit confused as to how this combiner box works? I see how it takes the inputs from the 4 strings, but it looks like there are exactly the same number of outputs.

Suggestions on fuse box and subpanel

I'm just about to start wiring up the array, 32 360 watt Renasolar panels in two parallel strings of 8. I plan on having a disconnect switch at the array for each parallel set, but I understand I need to fuse each string. Is there a box of some sort that can be purchased that will accept the 4...

    38 SEER! $1300 WOW

I appreciate your feedback on the Mitsubishi units. I've been agonizing over which mini split unit to buy. Ideally, I'd like to buy one outdoor unit that works with 3 air handlers, but it seems like my options are limited and the 1st choice, Mr Cool, is now off the radar since I've heard some...

    Earth tilt and array alignment

Thanks for posting this question. I too am interested in the correct azimuth heading to orient my array to. I read most of the replies to your question, but there was a lot of rabbit trails that didn't help. What did you end of setting your array to? I'm getting ready to start erecting the...

Wire sizing and overall system schematic

Thanks, all good information. I've got a week or two before my coarse plans are reviewed by the county office so I'll get busy crunching the numbers and figuring this out for my self. The gentlemen I spoke with and purchased the the inverters, panels, and batteries from assured me that the 32...

Wire sizing and overall system schematic

Yes, I remember reading that there is a difference between AC and DC breakers. Thanks for reminding me. I've got a lot of research to do and I too feel like I'm out of my league. I know it's not rocket science, but there just seems to be so many opinions on how to build a solar power system...

Wire sizing and overall system schematic

Greetings fellow DIY'ers: My off-grid house is about 75% completed so it's about time for me to do my part, erect the solar array, wire everything up, and run the wires in the conduit to the power/fuse box. The only problem is, I really don't know the right way to do it. I don't know what...

Bluetti AC200 - how many solar panel

Just wanted to post an update on my use of the AC200P. I bought a heating blanket, thanks for the suggestion, which I place under my sleeping bag, then I turn the heat to high and let everything warm up for about 1 hour before I hit the sack. I usually run the gen for a little over an hour in...

Are these the batteries we all have been waiting for?

Awesome. I'm looking forward to receiving my bank of 6 tomorrow, although, I will have to wait a few months for the house to be finished which gives me time to decide and buy the remaining components. I still need to settle on an inverter solar charge controller, or an all in one unit. Any...

Thank you for replying. Very nice, clean, set up you have there. Please forgive my ignorance but is it the Radian or the Outback that has the generator control?

Are these the batteries we all have been waiting for?

I'm guessing you have a lot of stuff you're running in that garage of your? I was thinking of running my whole house with about the same amount of battery power..lol. It looks like it was fun to build, anyway.

Are these the batteries we all have been waiting for?

Thanks Bob. I'll have a look at that unit and put it on the list of units to consider. House won't be built for a few months so I've got some time.

    Gyll Batteries Just Facts.

Wow, that's quite a rack you have there. LOL. I just sent a check to Signature Solar for a rack full myself. Now I have to figure out what else I'll need to power my barn/house project. I'm doing it backwards, I know, buying batteries, solar panels, and other stuff, even before the building...

Are these the batteries we all have been waiting for?

Being the amateur that I am, I am just now learning about stacking so that is probably the way I will go too. Since I'm 100% off grid, I'm leaning towards a unit that can turn on a generator when necessary. I could use a tutorial or two on inverters, stacking them, and whatever else one needs...

Installing The MPP Solar HV2-5048 and LFP cells

Thanks for the detailed information. I am considering one of these MPP Solar units too, more because they can handle the PV input and have auto gen start ability. While I'm intrigued by the idea of running my loads without batteries during the day, how does this unit keep from harming devices...

Are these the batteries we all have been waiting for?

Awesome. I think I'll probably order 6 of their 100ah 48vdc batteries and the rack. Not sure about the inverter though. I would love to find an all in one, inverter, MPPT, charger, and transfer switch that will auto start a standby generator when necessary. Does anyone know if such a unit...

Are these the batteries we all have been waiting for?

Greetings Al: I'm surprised that none of the super smart people on this forum replied. I'm not one of them, but I am interested in your signature solar system as I'm just about to buy a bank of batteries from them and the 6k inverter. Can I ask how things are running so far and if you would...
