    A/C Generator unit

I am looking to find an A/C generator than can be run at 80% duty cycle 24/7 for more than 2000 hours. I am looking for the generator part only for a project I am working on. Any tips or personal experiences to share when making a DIY generator? Any pointers on who to buy an AC generator from?

    Off-Grid F150 Lightning Charging

I know @Will Prowse already did an F150 video quite some time ago. I think there have been some updates since then (hopefully). I bought one a few weeks ago and I wanted to share my setup. I am using an MPP-8048 and 11.4kw autotransformer (completely disconnected from grid) to function as an...

Rack Mounted Battery enclosure to vent failed cells

I am thinking I might start with this ductboard. Any reason not to use this material? https://www.homedepot.com/p/Master-Flow-48-in-x-120-in-Duct-Board-R-6-DBOARD1/202974245 Maybe these fans for intake and exhaust...

Rack Mounted Battery enclosure to vent failed cells

I think it's mostly about air exchange rates. One of my stacks of batteries sit in a 3k sqft shop, so I am not sure that venting the whole room is a great idea. We are just trying to prevent the buildup of the gases to dangerous levels. I would think we would have many things to consider for it...

EG4 6500ex and 6000ex flickering lights and firmware

My lights flicker with my LF inverters and my HF inverters.. Many makes and models.. Seems to me that it's more tied to the loads connected to the inverter than anything else. For instance my lights don't flicker at all when my freeze dryer is shut off - the moment it's turned on - the...

Wow, basen rack.mounts batteries destroy a home in germany

I am not trying to be rude, I just don't want to jack this thread with off-topic things. @houseofancients shared some valuable information for all of us and I don't want to step on it by any means. Hence the link to the other thread.

Rack Mounted Battery enclosure to vent failed cells

I agree, an enclosure will lead to a more predicable result. Anything that will trap and move dangerous gases to the outside is worth the conversation to protect against this failure mode. The biggest question is how can we also not freeze our batteries when it's 0 outside? Do we have a detector...

Wow, basen rack.mounts batteries destroy a home in germany

So who wants to help me design a cover that goes around your batteries that will vent outside? Seems to me like a reasonable mitigation to prevent this failure mode. While the propensity for failure seems to be relatively low, the risk is complete destruction of your domicile. Thread is here...

Rack Mounted Battery enclosure to vent failed cells

I think in light of recent news about the explosion in Germany, having a discussion on risk mitigation methods is prudent. I think designing an enclosure that goes around the battery packs that would vent directly outside is worth discussing. My initial thoughts are to make a direct vent...

Wow, basen rack.mounts batteries destroy a home in germany

The concentration of gases would be highest inside the battery case, so it makes little sense to me that there appears to be no damage to the battery case at all. Something that would ignite with this kind of force would seemingly show at least some evidence damage at the source. I would say...

    Finally finished my RV

Here is the overview for my RV project. I wanted to get the generator away from where I sleep, and my wife has standards - so A/C is a must have. I built this system with the idea that I could run one A/C and my fridge overnight with no generator noises.

Lightning burned down my guest cabin and took grid out

Thank the Lord it burned the accessory building and not the one you were in! Sorry for your misfortune, but it sounds like you were already pretty well prepared for it.

    Shine Phone App For Growatt

That is super strange I use it for 4 inverters and have two sites. Never ever do I have an issue with it. I used it on my GW units without issue. I would ask how many devices are on your wifi. Most APs shouldn't have more than 12 devices per AP. I know people will say this is not correct, but...

If there is an EMP, energy is the last thing people in the blast radius need to worry about. I would worry more about the next rocket that is already inbound hot.

Victron Autotransformer: How loud is it?

Out of pure curiosity, why do you have the AT? Don't want to thread jack, so a pm is appropriate if you feel like it. I'm new to the victron world and I am doing up an RV with 50amp service.

I finally got my house off grid

I actually did some bad maths in my video. I don't script my videos or anything like that. I actually have 40 370w panels and 32 460w panels... so 72 in total. 29.5kw between all of them.

    Where are the mini splits????

I converted 3 central HVAC units at my place to pioneer mini splits. Working great, headed into my second winter with them and they survived the 4th and 5th hottest years on record in North Texas! No complaints.

Growatt in SBU Mode - Grid did not kick in after battery empty

My experience on this is the voltage for switching to grid is set too low. Try bumping the switchover up just a bit higher. From what I gather, when a heavy load hits on a low SOC, it throws this fault and then doesn't switchover. Super annoying. My GW, MPP and SGP inverters have all done...

I finally got my house off grid

High load peak of summer was 4500kwh a month when I started this project. During a cold snap in February of 22(I think), I hit 5000 kwh. It was at that point I knew I needed to do something, anything to make this house more sustainable. That number is just crazy. I had old R22 based units for...

I finally got my house off grid

36kw of surge is what they say, but for my needs these units will never see more than 80% for an extended period of time. Is that number real? TBH I have no idea and no real way to test it. None of the big loads I have would ever surge like that, they just click on and stay on. (Oven, Water...
