EG4-LL (version 1) 24v 200A and WakeSpeed Alternator Controller CAN communication

HMmm. I appreciate your thoughts. The alternator builder said the hottest part would be the back of case behind the diodes. He does all the local fire truck and military alternators. He doesn’t know LiFePO4 batteries. But Wakespeed takes care of that. I probably will add a second 4/0 cable...

EG4-LL (version 1) 24v 200A and WakeSpeed Alternator Controller CAN communication

Hi. Agree with all that. I was collecting my own data not a realtime dashboard from Wakespeed. I measured the cable terminal temp with an infrared gun after manually checking different points and connections for hot spots. I just don’t like the cable terminal at the alternator positive post...

EG4-LL (version 1) 24v 200A and WakeSpeed Alternator Controller CAN communication

Since you guys are using Wakespeed, I'm curious have you measured cable temperatures at the alternator positive output stud? I installed a full Victron system for a customer, including 4 x 330Ah Victron 12V batteries (+ 2 3VA inverter chargers, 1500W solar, etc). I fired up the Wakespeed for...

Signature Solar EG4-LL 400ah (12V) Server Rack Battery Issue???

I sent a Direct Message to @SignatureSolarChris and @SignatureSolarJames @BenFromSignatureSolar @SignatureSolarTech I'm having the BMS alarm issues with a 12V - 400Ah Lifepower battery I bought back in January '23. And just installed a month ago. I have 3000W Victron Multiplus. The BMS...

    EG4LL 5000Wh battery mounting orientation?

Good thought. I intend to mount in on the back / rear. so the cells would only have their own weight. This is also a mobile application.

    EG4LL 5000Wh battery mounting orientation?

Hi Danke, Thanks! interesting. The mfg says it can be mounted in any orientation. Since they do the warranty, I'll go with that. The application isn't stressful. Mostly very low loads and charging rates. <.1C. Doug

    EG4LL 5000Wh battery mounting orientation?

Hi Jay, Thank you for the reply. I did hear the same from the folks @ signature solar. I did hear something slightly different from members of this community on 200Ah EVE cells, which given the same chemistry I'd assume the same guidance. In any event, I'll proceed with this installation. Doug

    EG4LL 5000Wh battery mounting orientation?

Will and David Poz, I believe have tested these EG4LL server-rack format batteries with high marks. https://signaturesolar.com/eg4-lifepower4-lithium-battery-12v-400ah/ Can they be mounted in any orientation? For example on the small side? I want to mount under the RV dinette. The base is not...

The Electrodacus SBMS thread (SBMS0, DSSR50, etc)

I would call a solar wholesaler / supplier and ask them. It never occurred to me you couldn't find 60 cell panels. I have 3 on my RV for 3 years. I assume they'll last a very long time, since they only see 4 to 6 weeks of use each year. And normal are 25 year rated. Why not buy a spare panel...

Heltec 4S LiFEPO4 battery active balancer connection.

Tim, Good point. but then again, when you plug the harness in, there is no guarantee all connections are made exactly at the same time. Doug

Heltec 4S LiFEPO4 battery active balancer connection.

I'm looking at one of these 5A versions for my 560Ah 13.2V pack (pairs of 280Ah are wired in parallel with 1 BMS). My C rates are very low. RV application. Highest load is 125A for air conditioner. That happens 2 X / year for a few hours. Charging is normally solar - up to 45A. Normal...

    RV Solar - Expected Output

I have 300W x 3. 60 cell house type panels. I've seen as much as 650W out of the MPPT (Magnum) SCC, never real close to rated. And that'd be with maximized geometry (mid day sun). And mine our mounted flat. Given your description, I'd expect less efficiency. The geometry of your panels and...

The Electrodacus SBMS thread (SBMS0, DSSR50, etc)

In my 10S clip i do see wide variation in cell level voltages on each. All vary at least 40mV and cell 3 varies by 70mV. This could be a statistical anomaly. I didn’t take more video. They sort of seem consistent. Is the same reported on all ED BMSs?

The Electrodacus SBMS thread (SBMS0, DSSR50, etc)

Do others’ voltages on the ED BMS monitoring screen vary so much under load and charge? Say 5% or more of rated capacity? IE > = 30A on 580Ah Please see my 10S video in the folder linked here. https://www.icloud.com/sharedalbum/#B0sG60dj6J1Gcqq I will cross post on the Google forum. Thank you!!

The Electrodacus SBMS thread (SBMS0, DSSR50, etc)

Hi, Thanks a bunch for your thoughts! I sincerely appreciate the insights. The cell-level voltage swings only seem to happen under some decent charging load (I haven't tested, yet your higher current discharge theory). 30 amps on 580Ah x 13.2V doesn't seem high. but a few amps and the swing...

The Electrodacus SBMS thread (SBMS0, DSSR50, etc)

Is this forum thread still active? My questions above went unanswered. I've noticed my Electrodacus BMS doesn't set SOC to 100% even when the criteria for End of Charge are met. I've only seen it get as high as 91%. How does it determine SOC? ***Update, I read the beginners guide more...

The Electrodacus SBMS thread (SBMS0, DSSR50, etc)

I notice in the SBMS0 manual (advanced settings) there is a Doze / Idle state that in default is triggered @ 15 minutes. Does this turn just off the display? Or reduce consumption in some other way? I see consumption is .3W @ 12V. I ask as I hibernate my camper sometimes for a few months...

Chargery BMS Cell Readings Inaccuracy. Should I be concerned?

Thank you. I have Magnum PT100. It is a stout unit. And can be setup standalone. I am going to see if it has a BMS input to stop charging. Like most RV systems, I have one contactor separating the battery for charging and 12V and inverter loads. Of course, the inverter is also a charger...

Chargery BMS Cell Readings Inaccuracy. Should I be concerned?

Thank you. I looked at their schematics. It does seem I'd have to re-wire my panels in parallel vs. series. From what I'm seeing, they don't accommodate 100V open from panels. I wonder if I could just use it as BMS-only and have the external output control my contactor?

Chargery BMS Cell Readings Inaccuracy. Should I be concerned?

Hi Grizz, Thank you. I remember being impressed with Dacian's product. But the system architect was very different, if I remember right. Was this due to the system also being the Solar charge controller? I forget. My panels are wired in series and have a nice SCC. Maybe I could use Dacian...

Chargery BMS Cell Readings Inaccuracy. Should I be concerned?

Grizz - with what did you replace? Thanks for this info. It seems consistent with my recent experience. Interestingly, rebooted the BMS yesterday and it immediately read differently. It had been on for at least 6 months. It powers from the battery and the unit is behind a screwed together...

    Diagnosing possible LiFePO4 pack issues

In looking back, the sum of my DVM individual cells and Victron pack voltage are within 1/1000V. Tomorrow, I'll measure the voltage taps @ the connector. A great idea! Thanks again. On email, I asked Jason if I could leave a deposit and have him send a replacement unit while my current unit...

    Diagnosing possible LiFePO4 pack issues

I definitely appreciate the feedback! I assume the Chargery balancing feature is capable of balancing the cell pack, perhaps in not the most efficient manner as an initial parallel balance, but also agree my A-grade 280Ah cells might not be perfectly matched. All the cells did start the...

    Diagnosing possible LiFePO4 pack issues

Chargery BMS Cell Readings Inaccuracy. Should I be concerned?

I posted another thread, assuming Chargery BMS was reporting correctly and my cells falling. After pulling the lid on my battery and measuring with DVM, I see all 4 cells @ 3.322V and 3.321V. (Take a look at what chargery is reporting for my voltages, only -3Ah from full (I use 520Ah as full...

    Diagnosing possible LiFePO4 pack issues

MisterSandals (MS)- Note, my LVD event was @ 3.0V / cell - very conservative setting. Is it reasonable to assume the balance wasn't completely fouled? I do also have photos of prior top balance, which look very similar to the data I captured last night. But that is relying on the BMS output. I...

    Diagnosing possible LiFePO4 pack issues

Hi MisterSandals- Appreciate your feedback! Ah ha on the power from external source. hmmm. I wasn't aware of that issue. I wonder if I have the plug to power it externally? I did not capacity test all of the cells - when I first deployed, I charged them all to 14.1 and let the chargery...

    Diagnosing possible LiFePO4 pack issues

I pulled the battery cover and the cells tell a different story than BMS. I measure 3.321V or 3.322V on all pairs with my meters. The terminals are all tight, including voltage taps. I guess I will reach out to Chargery technical support.
