Zacs frugal lowest cost solar system australia

Belated thanks for this, also in oz myself. Been considering the Kings 3000w. How's it held up? Does it have any issue with high amp draw? This is the main issue I've seen with the inverters I've considered so far - they wont drive certain high amp, lower watt, devices, I.e. 2300w power tool...

Add-on DIY portable power station? Charging options? Better ideas?

Isnt this exactly what it does? I've realised I actually have a Redarc Dual Battery Isolator SBI12 in my box of inherited doodads, from what I'm reading this can be attached/between/wherevs my 400ah and auxillary and when 400ah reaches charge ( 13.2 volts for activation, 12.7 volts for...

Add-on DIY portable power station? Charging options? Better ideas?

@MisterSandals To charge whatever external battery/station don't I just need a Voltage Sensing Relay (VSR) or Smart Relay, and a switch? Seems the above got off-topic and overthunked, mayhap.

Add-on DIY portable power station? Charging options? Better ideas?

I would too, but based on prior advice I was told I needed over 24v MPPT, and bought the Rover 60a on recommendation (also factoring for adding more in future). LR4-60HPH-370M 2 x 370w 24v EACH: Current at maximum power ( IMP/A ), STC: 10.76 | NOCT: 8.63 Short Circuit Current: STC: 11.52 |...

Add-on DIY portable power station? Charging options? Better ideas?

But why on 🌍 would u not MPPT? 👍 Neither am I! I have bought, unopened. What would another give me that the Renogy doesn't? Note that I'm in Oz, with less options than US, Renogy actually have a relatively good reputation here, I.e. can (and have) returned, do [eventually] get warranty...

Add-on DIY portable power station? Charging options? Better ideas?

A key question is - what do I need to charge this thing, from the 400ah 12v circuit? I.e. 400ah reaches full charge, auto charges the station. A switch gives option to manually charge the station. Just 1 battery so assume dont need BMS, but how would I control these charges/avoid over/under...

Add-on DIY portable power station? Charging options? Better ideas?

I meant as total AC/DC use. I just re-uploaded the original spreadsheet, it (read: I) borked the prior: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1yfzaPXJncWwqUgRRQug3hWDhiI_pATJQD2WIb3_73b8/edit?usp=sharing This is 'full load watt hours'? I'm taking SCC as: MPPT. Yr not thinking of the 20-40A...

Add-on DIY portable power station? Charging options? Better ideas?

Wo, we're getting into crazy talk territory 😂. I'm talking re a budget, light, portable DIY station, with an inverter for low power devices. I'll likely test my 150watt pure sine inverter I have on hand, that's worked fine for laptop et al prior, and on googling just now something like a...

Add-on DIY portable power station? Charging options? Better ideas?

Hey, thanks and yes I had and should have mentioned, I had factored on a sheet where I overestimated to ~2.5kw. My energy needs have greatly reduced from original factoring, and office now consists of a macbook air m1, ext monitor and modem ~90% of the time. A LOT less power. I just downloaded...

Add-on DIY portable power station? Charging options? Better ideas?

I'm exploring options for a small (50 > 100ah'ish) likely DIY portable power station. My main house batts are 2 x 200Ah 12V LiFePO4 batteries charged from 740w 24v (residential) panels via Renogy ROVER 60a MPPT. The idea is to add AH juice for the consistent loads day to day, while also...

Belated reply, the "MRBF" I have is a Littelfuse CF Fuse (not ZCase) clone/OEM https://www.farnell.com/datasheets/2246040.pdf , it's from : https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Autoido-Andu-Supply-30A-300A-Marine_1600266194951.html - and looking at the details of company, and product, it...

Very good and obvious points, and I do have a generator and now feel a bit daft. MPPT: Max solar input: 100V(25℃) 90V(-25℃) (Winter has suddenly hit so consistently <25c now) PV : Voc of each panel: 40.9 I must have had wrong info in my noggin, so PV in series is adding that Voc x 2 (81.8v)...

I'm familiar with the bluesea as detailed, the only writing on my fuse is clearly visible in attached pics. you can tell it's not the same as bluesea (cover only over fuse, not whole ceramic body) - but functionally it seems the same? (I was confusing lower amperage MRBF fuses with the type of...

Oh haha, yes I haven't even put together yet, that's not how I'm mounting! Was just showing where the mount would sit. I bought this off local reputable oz ebay seller - the mount was cheaper w' fuse, than cheapest mrbf bluesea mount w' no fuse locally. If ebay fuse proves dodgy I'll buy...

I was sold on 24v since starting research, but given the short cable runs I'll have, the existing 12v loads - with existing cabling, and that my 2 batts will only give 100a draw at 24v in series, I decided to stay with the existing 12v for now. I have factored adding 2 more of same batts in...

Wow, thank you - there's a lot to decode here, I hope you're ok with me posting the questions as they come to me - in the spirit of learnding: Why 200a MRBF? I already bought a 300a fuse as every diagram I've seen (that's anything close to my setup) starts at 250a and goes up to 400a. My batts...

And 2000w Inverter/12v = 166a - which would only be occasional spike needs (microwave, blender or somesuch) My 2 batts in series to 24v would only supply 100a (150a 5-sec peak) though?

Ok, I understand your points, yet I would neither be using that capacity, nor am I trying to add capacity. I simply wouldn't, or plan to, hit 3k (in fact in my old rental flat - running a bunch of electrical heaters, toaster, oven - I calculated the circuit breaker breaking at 2kw - if we had...

I've detailed a couple of times now it was a query about modifying/hacking the 5196, but it's neither actually worth it (I initially thought it included MRBF fuses, but it doesn't) and noone seems to understand my query, so let's move on. EDIT: Meant hack/modify 5194, 5194!! Crikey. Anyway, bad...

Holy crap, well that IS a reality check. But 48v 800ah vs my 12v 400ah? Is that scenario and a 150a non-class-t fuse (a reasonable fuse size for me to have) on 12v the same risk?
