Landscape panels / vertical rails, plus portrait panels / horizontal rails, setbacks for NEC, on attached garage.

I'm planning my panel layout for my attached garage. Still debating whether or not to obtain a permit from my town, but I'm leaning towards doing so. I've learned about the code (NEC 2017) for "setbacks" of 3ft from the roof peak. And of course, power production is also a factor so trying to...

EG4 Battery Rack, These Bus Bars are Terrible!!

Rec'd them today. They look much better. Appear to still be using threaded inserts but they are a different design and installed from the back side now so they can't just pull out (at least that's my assumption, the shrink tubing covers the back so its hard to see the details of those...

EG4 Battery Rack, These Bus Bars are Terrible!!

I rec'd tracking info stating that new busbars will arrive within next 2 days. I'll report back on how they look.

EG4 Battery Rack, These Bus Bars are Terrible!!

I rec'd these replacements about 3 weeks ago, just haven't had the time to deal with what I could see was a problem..

EG4 Battery Rack, These Bus Bars are Terrible!!

Is anyone else on the forum having these problems and/or actually received a real fix? My original bus bars were unusable due to the threaded inserts being poorly installed, deeply recessed, and coming out of the bar with very minimal torque. Signature Solar was responsive and I received...

FAQ: Residential roof installation requirements for the USA

Great thread, thanks to x98myers7 for putting this together. So how many DIYers are building fully to NEC 2017 code for systems that don't have a grid interconnection agreement? I was considering the EG4 18kpv (among others) - it doesn't meet code without some sort of separately purchased...

    Where to buy racking

Same here, looking for local racking / rails for sale, but in Wisconsin or northern Illinois. Anyone have a good source?

Dual EG4 6500EX setup, how do these actually operate when connected to my home panel?

Thanks guys for the responses! It makes me feel a little better about my plans, but to be honest I'm getting hesitant to pull the trigger with my inverter choice. The cost and simplicity of the EG4s are attractive but I'm concerned with the idle consumption and they seem to be a little noisy...

Dual EG4 6500EX setup, how do these actually operate when connected to my home panel?

I'm trying to understand how the actual operation will work for powering most of my house and the basic idea of how to integrate it to my panel. Do I have this right? 1. I need to install a critical loads panel. 2. Move everything I want to power with the inverters, such as freezers, sump...

    New EG4-8KEXP-240 Inverter

Not sure what the advantage of this unit would be compared to 2 of the EG4 6500. The cost on the new model is a little higher than 2 6500 and the power output of the 6500s combined would be quite a bit higher. Sure, there are other factors to consider, but I'm just not seeing what the...

    New Solar System Planning

So I've made a little progress on this project! Thanks for your inputs thus far.. I'm researching and learning in my spare time, but its kinda a slow process. Yes, my water heater is gas, btw. Panels: Purchased (26) Heliene 370W panels from a local seller, so a little more total power than I...

    New Heliene vs used Santan?

For the Heliene 370w, I don't see any resiliency ratings for wind load, snow load, or hail...is that a major concern for something like a Wisconsin climate? Or is it more likely that they would be fine and they just aren't rated?

    Heliene 72M-370

I know what you're talking about...eyeing those as well. My concern was that they do nor appear to have any resiliency ratings for snow, wind, or hail that I can find. This site says only fire rating: https://www.energysage.com/solar-panels/heliene/1203/hee370m/ Do others in northern climates...

    New Solar System Planning

The SolArk 15k sounds good, pretty substantial investment though. Are there any other inverters with this pass through function?

    New Solar System Planning

I live in southern Wisconsin and I'm working on plans for a solar system. I'd like a system that is off-grid but would keep the utility for backup and larger loads as needed. It would be a plus if I could sell power back to the utility in the instances where I have extra solar being generated...
