HQST vs Rich Solar Charge Controllers

I have the HQST that is in the second link you posted but mine is the 40amp. I didn't get the optional bluetooth adapter for mine. It uses the BT-2. I just have that external plug in screen which is handy. This unit is made by SRNE. Working great for the past two and half years. They sell...

How many power stations do you have?

The Ecoflow River Max is okay for what it is. 600 watts inverter, 200 watts solar input. It is fine for light loads. The 200 watt solar input is what I would say is holding it back. So can't charge/passthrough enough if I am running bigger loads. To be honest I have never been able to get...

Score! Lookie what i found at a yard sale!

Those are really nice. Pure sine wave inverter from what I remember. Too bad the batteries don't seem to last for me.

How many power stations do you have?

I have a bunch when I started playing with solar. 5 X Rockpals 300W - These were cheap on Ebay being sold for parts that I pieced together to make good working units. The BMS is the Achilles heel for these. Replace the BMS and unit works perfectly again. 2 X Ecoflow Delta 1 X Ecoflow River...

    EcoFlow R600

Jackery is popular but is behind the times now days. The solar/charging input is just too low as in how many watts it can take. Bluetti is good. AC200P will fit your use case scenario as it is LifePO4 and will have an inverter powerful enough for what you need. Ecoflow you aren't going to...

    EcoFlow R600

The "River Pro" only has a 600 watt inverter so that is the limiting factor. It has a boost function that basically lowers the AC voltage going out to trick your higher power devices in working albeit at a slower pace. Using that feature you can have it run a coffeemaker but don't believe it...

Amp hours from the seven cell Garcia board.

Make sure there is not a big voltage difference between cells in each board before putting them together. The PCB's themselves have a trace fuse for each cell and also a 5 amp fuse for the board. A big difference between boards will blow those. Difference between boards will cause an influx...

    36v UPS battery construction

I am currently experimenting with a setup similar. I have a Dell (APC) UPS that used three 12V SLA batteries in series. The connector going from the batteries into the UPS itself is a powerpole connector. There is also a EBM connection on the back for external batteries. I have connected...

Current best source for battery packs?

My go to place for 18650's will be "Cell Saviors". There you can get whole pack, cells that are broken down from the packs but not tested and also cells that have been run through the tests with the capacity labeled on each one. I have had very good experiences with them and their service is...

I found a battery on ebay, free shipping, 100Ah $299... im going to do a load test on it... should i post a video here?

Those look like the standard JST XH. I have noticed that some BMS have a variation of them though. Same look but little smaller size.

    Ebike battery

The 5521 bullet connectors I usually see show that they will handle 5 amps max. Make sure the connector used will handle the amps that will be drawn.

FIRE! Battery Hookup SHIPMENT CAUGHT FIRE! Huh Huh FIRE!

I think the same thing is happening to me right now. I made two purchases at Battery Clearing House on the same day. 11/10/2021. Get an email showing both were shipped out. Well.... Two days later I received the second order but not the first. I contacted Battery Clearing House and they...

    Shipping batteries...

The strangest conversation just happened between FedEx and I. Here is the background.... I ordered some modem packs from Battery Clearing House. The package never showed up. Battery Clearing House told me they will reach out to FedEx to file a claim. One day later.... (Just now) FedEx...

I found a battery on ebay, free shipping, 100Ah $299... im going to do a load test on it... should i post a video here?

Interesting.... So in the video it does have four packs of 20 cells each. So not the series of the cells and then parallel that was said before.

Jackery is now sold at Harbor Freight

Looks like Harbor Freight now sells the Jackery. Kind of strange cause I would be expecting them to "make" their own unit with their own branding instead of selling a established unit from a brand not their own.

Good deal on 40 amp MPPT charge controller

I picked up the HQST 40 amp unit which looks exactly like the BougeRV/SRNE Solar unit back around Thanksgiving 2020. It was on special and came with the screen attachment for around $109. Using it ever since. Works great. I would definitely buy again and would recommend it. No it doesn't...

    Future battery upgrades/replacements

On mine there are a few issues. Things I have noticed is the AC inverter the voltage will start sagging. They come with a 115 volt. I have two that are now showing 113 volt constantly. One has even went out. Just beeps when I try to turn on the AC inverter. Battery voltage testing good.

Good deal on 40 amp MPPT charge controller

From my research on this SCC, the unit is made by SRNE Solar. There is a setting for lithium on the unit but there is also a "User" setting so you can customize what you want. The LCD screen isn't backlit so reading in dark places is not ideal. Unit does get a little warm while in use but...

Good deal on 40 amp MPPT charge controller

I got this same SCC from HQST. It is a decent unit that gets the job done. Downside is that there is no connections for a load/inverter like you would find on other SCC's. Max wire size for the terminals are around 10 awg. Maybe can fit 8 awg. From what I remember when I was setting mine...

    Future battery upgrades/replacements

I didn't use regular XT-60 connectors. Go to Amazon and type in "XT60 mountable". They come with the nut and bolt. All I did was drill a hold roughly the size of the connector. Then take a file and get it the perfect size for the connector to fit. Then drill two smaller holes for the bolt...

    Ideal charging parameters?

Yes. These are NMC cells. These are the specs for the cells used. There doesn't seem to be a "disable" for the equalize function. Just asks for a voltage. As far as intended use... This currently is my first foray into a modular solar setup. I have been going with micro systems before...

    Ideal charging parameters?

I picked up this 40 amp MPPT from HQST. My battery is using 18650's in a 3S60P configuration with a 60 amp BMS. While there is a LiIon setting, the manual says that it is optimized for LiFePO4. What would be the ideal settings I would use in my scenario? Settings: Full Voltage: 12.6V...

    Jackery Explorer 300

I think the thing that has always kept me from buying the Jackery has always been the lower (slower) charge rate. Everything from the build quality, regulated outputs, etc has been great.

Any update on the new units you got? How are they working? Did you ever put in the extra batteries to fill up the empty spots that just has the foam?

    Jackery Explorer 300

What is the difference between this unit and the "Honda" licensed version that has 292 watt hours? Same thing but without the red Honda color scheme? Looks like one more watt hour and also the updated USB ports. USB-C PD and quick charge port. Curious cause the USB-C shows "In/Out". Does...

    Jackery Explorer 300

I wonder what would differentiates the different charging speeds.... The on board MPPT? The power input is going through the same port. My reason for asking is because for example 100 watt solar panel I have noticed an average voltage of around 19-21 volts at 5 amps. That would give you a...

    Jackery Explorer 300

Are you sure it is only 62 watts input? That seems like a step backwards since the newer 240's got the 80 watt input upgrade. I went to the website and found this. Solar input is 90 watts or am I reading this wrong?

    Future battery upgrades/replacements

Wow.... I haven't seen one with that setup. All of mine have shown up with the two power connectors and the regular BMS. So would you say this new design is better or still crap? Would you also think it is better to go with a different BMS or is the original one better?

RockPals 300W PS - Not working

Could be a bad BMS. I have noticed the BMS goes bad very easily when being charged using AC. DC is best option for charging for longevity. When the same thing happened to my unit I noticed that the battery was overcharged. Bleed some of the power off to the normal 12.6 volts and under and it...

    Future battery upgrades/replacements

I feel there are some flaws with these units. One is going to be the cooling. When charging or in use, the battery area will get very warm. There is really no way to get any air to the bottom compartment. Seems all the air from the fans are used to cool the mainboard/inverter. Another thing...

    Lion Energy Safari ME

What does everyone think about this unit? Seems like it just came out. Has the color screen... Has expansion batteries.... LifePO4 batteries and amazing charge rates! Companies are really upping their game now.
