Victron is Over-priced Eurotrash. Why would anybody buy Victron over an AiO?

If you like their output it is a simple matter to chop off the newpowa MC4 and install your own.

Has anyone ever had the IRS question the solar tax deduction ?

Looks like 5 years but the immediate credit is probably better for most folks. https://www.kcgreenenergy.com/blog/how-to-calculate-depreciation-on-solar-panels/

Has anyone ever had the IRS question the solar tax deduction ?

It’s an immediate credit in the year it is installed and operational. Again, in the US, no idea about Spain.

Federal Tax Credit and State Sales Tax questions

I don’t think that’s how it works. The credit will carry forward until you owe taxes. Simply reduce withholding and get the benefit ASAP.

Midnite Solar Announced their new 10kw AIO at Intersolar Today

All I know, for certain, is that if you exceed max voltage on a Victron MPPT the magic smoke comes out 😎. Although it was an accident it seems I gotta learn everything the hard way. Hyper gimmick may have helped in this moment of stupidity.

Better to run separate solar charge controllers for different panels vs 1 bigger unit?

Separate MPPT especially if you have panels not all lined up in the same orientation to the sun. You would then have an option to optimize some panels for morning sun and others for afternoon.

Has anyone ever had the IRS question the solar tax deduction ?

Of course that is a deduction, not a tax credit. Tax brackets typically determine which is more valuable FWIW.

What conduit do I use from wireway to inverters?

If you go that route can you flip over the wireway and punch hole’s through flat metal ? Unused punch outs shouldn’t fail code I would GUESS since all of my electrical boxes have unused punch outs.

Has anyone ever had the IRS question the solar tax deduction ?

Asking for a friend 😎. Obviously a US centric question but with all the threads on what does/doesn’t count I’m wondering if anyone has been audited for the tax credit. If so, was it a question of producing receipts, pictures, or an agent conducting an on site visit ? Inquiring minds want to...

    Axitec vs Canadian Solar

Picking fly poop out of pepper IMHO. Not a significant enough difference to discern.

I have a SW-4048 with SCP that works fine but “The One” might tempt me to upgrade. Or I could go all blue to match my existing MPPT’s. Doing nothing would be smart but I rarely do the smart thing 😎.

NW OH DIY Roof Mount Solar

I’m also in NW OH and other than the Eclipse day the rain has been pouring. Saturday and early Sunday are your best bet but whenever I get more panels up and wired it rains for a week 😎. Good luck from zip 43440 !

    For Sale! Complete system

And clearly no one has ever told a fib on the internet. 😎 Remember that this was purchased at an auction so the prior owners use would be impossible to know, clearly. Those electrons don’t leave tire tracks unless they release the magic smoke 😎.

Got my solar tax credits and my CPA says I can't use them, but I can sell them?? Help!

Just stop all tax withholding from your pension and give yourself a raise in take home pay. I always hate to sell something at 50-70% of face value when I don’t need to. I’m not aware of a maximum time limit on carry forward of the credits so that is a good question for your CPA. If they...

Splitting Up My Home Power For Critical Backup - Opinions Please

Wouldn’t your MP-II’s already pass through power without the xfer switch? Edit: I see that you want to be able to bypass to work on the Victrons. I did basically the same thing with Schneider equipment (CSW-4048) years ago, sans xfer switch, and have not regretted it, yet. Your system, your...

    RFI issue

I was wondering how you picked that frequency.
  20. J

    RFI issue

You can add Victron MPPT’s to that list. I’ve not used their inverters. The RFI can be tamed but it’s a DIY thing despite them being aware of the problem.

Nice job guys ! Taming RFI is often a tedious and difficult job. Here is a good reference piece from Jim, K9YC for anyone interested : http://www.audiosystemsgroup.com/RFI-Ham.pdf

New 48v System, need help <3

Agree with the above ⬆️ Although your current setup won’t likely generate more than 40A at normal charging voltages for a 48V nominal battery I wouldn’t step down in wire and fuse size in case you or someone else add panels in the future. And you typically want 25% headroom as well.

    Brightmount Wall Mount?

I’ll guess the structure is more of a concern than the bolts. As pointed out the static load will be different but wind loading should be greatly minimized in your use case. Give it a go and let us know how it works out 😎.

    Victron 100/20 smart solar

My best guess on the 48V problem is this : Your 48V nominal battery will be over 56V while charging. At max temp your 3s panels will put out a minimum PV voltage of 51.8V if I’m reading your results correctly. I believe the Victron needs to see 5V over charging voltage to function...

    Air conditioning a conex

Regarding insulation, a thread on the forum years ago discussed how it was more efficient to insulate the exterior of a connex as opposed to the interior. It also maintains the limited interior volume/space. Seems like that will be a piece of the puzzle for you. Unfortunately I’m not versed...

Elegant way to pre-charge between 2 Anderson connectors?

I’ve got a half dozen of these things laying round so one is always handy and I’m out about $15 total amongst all of them. Here is the resistor I used : https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MW4VHDB/ It’s a low DIY hurdle to clear 😎

Elegant way to pre-charge between 2 Anderson connectors?

This is what I made years ago for Anderson SB50’s. One side is a resistor, the other is just a piece of wire appropriately spaced and secured to a piece of scrap wood. Just hold the APP connectors on each side for a bit and then plug them together. Aint pretty but it works 😎.
