Best way to run AC power 500 ft from array to cabin

I hear everyone who is saying the demand is crazy high. I don't know how else to figure it except add up worst case numbers for all of the appliances we want. Absolutely agree that we may not end up having the power for it (esp in winter). But what I don't want is to have a day where we have a...

Best way to run AC power 500 ft from array to cabin

Appreciate this input, thanks. I *think* I've found 2000volt rated wire. We'd have to do the price comparison on whether smaller size, 2000v-rated is more cost-effective than larger wire, 600v rated.

Best way to run AC power 500 ft from array to cabin

As for the possibility of step-up & step-down transformers, I'm trying to price out a 240-960 single phase step up transformer. I found this 240 to 480 step up single-phase transformer, rated for 52 amps at 480V (more than we need, but the version one-size smaller is a smidge too small) for...

Best way to run AC power 500 ft from array to cabin

I have now learned that a single-phase 240v run would mean 3 wires (one live wire, one neutral, and one ground), and that the neutral has to be the same size as the live wire, but the ground can be a bit smaller. So I now understand that the AC option would take a 3-wire run over the 500 feet.

About to spend a lot of money tomorrow on this system (am I making a mistake?)

    1. Thank you for this. To make sure I understand, it's 2000 feet because it's 1000 feet for each run, made up of 2 500 ft wires for each run? 2. This would mean we'd need two charge controllers that could accept 600 volts each, yes? 3. I'm confused how we get to 600 volts. Each of our panel's...

About to spend a lot of money tomorrow on this system (am I making a mistake?)

For the "AC option," which I'm trying to sort out on another thread, I'm not assuming we're using the Victron equipment that AlaskanNoob picked out. In fact, adding up the power draw for all the stuff I would like to have running in a perfect world, I think it is undersized because I think our...
