    Help in NM

Proper system design. 1. You need an inverter large enough to cover your maximum instantaneous loads. (Don't forget about motor surges) 2. You need enough battery capacity to cover your loads during non production times. (Night, and cloudy days) 3. You need enough solar (and or wind) to...

    Help in NM

I see a cart roll by, and then a horse chasing after it. Wait........ these are in the wrong order.

Or........ just don't worry about it too much. lol

    Less ugly transfer switch?

Yes, but the OP is already limited on breaker space.

Polaris connectors are a set screw type connection. If the strands are super fine, they could be damaged. All of my "bus bars" are standard (set screw) multi port wire connectors. Basically the same thing as the Polaris, without the rubber covering.

Why the laser focus on Idle Power?

I'm beyond worrying about idle draw. It's just the cost of doing business , as my own energy provider.

Ground mounts for second set of panels for Winter use only

If it was summer, yes. But this is just for winter help. I'm guessing that it still won't be clipping, in winter.

6000xp total power pass through questions

Which is passed through to the output.

    Growatt es5000 beeps

It sounds like an error. I'm guessing that the DC bus voltage is getting too high. I don't know if you have a way to check it. It's not viewable on the screen. I can see it on Solar Assistant. When it exceeds 480v , it's not happy.

Ground mounts for second set of panels for Winter use only

That's the goal, since winter production is reduced. Amperage isn't pushed, it must be drawn. There's nothing to handle. Your phone charger doesn't have to handle the 20a available at the receptacle it's plugged into. It just draws what it needs from the available current.

Is it just a single beep, or several beeps in succession?

    207kWh System... In 12V??? 😬

Hey, it's no big deal. Just run the generator all day long and the batteries should get you through the night. (Assuming everyone is just sleeping)

    I definitely agree with that.

Does everyone else imagine panels on perfect roofs?

I guess it is just personal preference. The roof was my first choice. I see it as a no brainer. Free space that isn't in the way of anything. Unless you look up, my house/property doesn't look any different than before. I'm also adding ground mounts. But there was no way I was going to pass...

    207kWh System... In 12V??? 😬

It's all relative. Some of us wouldn't consider a 48kw system, excessive.

    My build thread

There's a silver lining in every cloud. It's been a rainy, hot, humid week. The toilet that uses the condensate collection tank, has not required any city water this week.

Does everyone else imagine panels on perfect roofs?

I can't help it. I drive a lot for work. Through a lot of farm land. So many big barns and wide open fields. So many missed opportunities.

Why the laser focus on Idle Power?

I have nothing to add. lol

This is what you get when you pick the wrong installer.

    207kWh System... In 12V??? 😬

That's just way beyond silly. Such a huge waste of money.

Does everyone else imagine panels on perfect roofs?

I do this all of the time. Driving around and look at a house or barn, and think. Wow, they could put a lot of solar on that roof.

over paneling and lowering max charge current in MPPT Solar charge controller

It can't hurt anything, unless the SCC develops an internal short. If concerned, just add a fuse rated at the limit. But if the SCC develops a short, it's already toast anyway. The fuse can only limit the aftermath.

Other ways, would be Other chargers. You can't charge and discharge the battery at the same time, with just one piece of equipment.
