I think it may have been miscommunicated that the bateries were rack batteries instead of PowerPro. The EG4 rack batteries use ring terminals and so does the 6000xp. No ferrules needed. 5/16" ring terminals on both ends.

The SOC could be out of calibration - try charging them up as much as you can and it should reset the reading. The other thing could be the 100% was a false reading somehow, and once the batteries detected they were empty you experienced a system shutdown and they updated their reading.

I was just rereading the manual, and the section could use some work... You can use more batteries, just use an external fused positive busbar - 200A fuse on each battery. Unfused negative bus bar.

If the manual says 12”, then anything less is a code violation.

A knockout pattern for a standard trough might not be that hard with a greenlee / jigsaw. Might look better.
