Chins 200 amp hour battery at 99% SOC but only 13.4 volts

You cant really go by that charge graph. My battery (24v) is currently on 17.3% charge, but showing a voltage of 26.34V. My battery is made up of 4 x 100ah batteries. I use a Victron smart shunt to monitor solar production & usage.

100Ah pack with yellow lid/top and a dozen names (Ogreen, Konce..)

Well, they've both have the same brief information spiel! Both go on about blue sky & greener mountains. Both have the same spec sheets, just different colours. One has reviews, but mostly about cells and not the batteries in question. Great price tho. the 25.6V has interested me.....but...

Questions for people using the Victron Smart Shunt

Yes, has been for days. Gets to 28.6V about 1-1:30pm ish. As mentioned earlier, its only started happening since the last update.

Questions for people using the Victron Smart Shunt

I've found recently is doesnt change to 100% SOC after being on float for a while. Today I had to manually change it to show 100%, but then last week, it did it automatically after about 15-30mins of being at full charge (28.6V). But apart from that, its great at giving the right SOC...

Impress your friends with a 3kw electric kettle

We use a 1Kw kettle in summer (on solar), then the 3Kw kettle in winter (on mains) ? We also have a Tassimo coffee machine thats plugged in to the solar plugs in summer, but mans plugs in winter.

    Off grid office!

Yes, I learnt the hard way about that! Bought a 1Kw inverter as I had checked the washing machine usage more than halfway through the cycle! Thought "ooh, only uses 350watts, a 1kw inverter will do"! Got the inverter, panels & battery, Saturday came (laundry day), put the WM on, tripped the...

What Mini-Split did you use, and Why?

I've been looking at mini splits here in the UK I'm a bit confused with the power usage. A lot of them show the output at say 3kw, but then also shows usage at say 750watts. With your experiences, what is the average watts usage of a 9-12BTU mini split? Could I run one off my 3Kw inverter...

Victron 100/30 Only pulling 35 watts

I think your smart shunt is wired in wrong. Its showing your usage AND the solar production. The shunt should be wired inbetwen your battery and inverter, but looks like its wired between your inverter and SCC instead. (I think).

Is it a bad idea to insulate LiFePO4 batteries?

Some batteries say not to go above 60oC or 65oC (140F+, just checked you're in the US), so maybe just stick a thermometer in there and check during summer.

Highest Production generated on cold Sunny days

I've got 2 x JA panels. They're rated at 385W each, but I have seen them produce as much as 848W on a good day! Was well chuffed with that ? My other 2 panels however, Trina, 340W each, max I've seen out of them was about 640W.

Need Help Getting My System Working!

You picture of the controller shows voltage at 26.8, the batteries are fully charged, so the controller wont charge them as they're full already. Well, depends on the settings on the controller. 24V fully charged could be 29.2V. Thats my 2 pence worth anyway. Try using some of the battery...

How much difference does cleaning your panels really make? - A quick and dirty study.

I wash my 24year old car with the stuff, and its still ok ? It's not as if im washng the panels daily tho. I'm in the UK, so we get PLENTY of rain water too ???

Totally new and not a clue - solar system to run garden lights or balcony solar system , help please.

With that inverter you've linked to, it outputs AC current. Those type of inverters are used mostly for grid tied solar panels, feeding back to the grid, so you wont be able to use a battery with them. Maybe have a look at All In One systems (AIO). they have a SCC intergrated, as well as the...

Totally new and not a clue - solar system to run garden lights or balcony solar system , help please.

Hi, So with your bulb string, if on for 8 hours a night, that just under 2kw of electricity. Thinking about the cost of a solar charge controller (SCC), inverter, wiring and everything else that goes with solar, its going to get quite expensive for all the equipment. Do these lights have to be...

    1st ever New installation

I'm no expert here, but i'll give some info. The pump runnming 24-7 would use roughly 1632 watts for 24 hours. Battery wise, you would need enough battery to use that 1632watts, so would need a 200ah battery say at 12V. For solar panels, if you can get one of those 410w panels, i "think" that...

More than 4 Renogy Smart Lithiums

In short, your positive cable should be at the back of the pack, keep the negative at the front. The way you have them at the moment, it will use all the power from the front battery, causing the back two to charge the front battery. Also, the back batteries wont get fully charged, as the front...

    1st ever New installation

You could still build a system to cover your summer usage tho ? Thats kinda what I've done. I've run exentsions through the house, discretley tho, so got a few double sockets in the kitchen, upstairs in the office and in the living room. When the suns out and battery is charged, I plug the...

    1st ever New installation

Hi John, 1st thing everyone is going to ask, is how much is your peak usage during the day. For example, when the washing machine is on, Tv is on, then you make a cuppa, how much is ALL that using? Kw wise. Are you planning on running the whole house off solar? Not sure you'll have the space...

Sanity Check for Beginner Solar System

With regards to fuse for the output, what are your main house fuses rated at? I'm in the UK, so the fuses I'm using are 63A in a normal fusebox bought from a DIY store. Same as what you would get in a UK main fusebox. With regards to wiring from the battery to inverter, what do the...

24V solar system for a well

From my little bit of knowledge, you will need a 24v fuse box, like the kind you get in a truck. Does the Renogy charger have a load output? Think it'll all need to be wired up to that through the fuse box. I'm not sure how you would program the Renogy to only use solar to power the load...

    Safety tips for all-in-one inverters

Do you have panels connected as well? When I had panels connected to my AIO, it would stay lit up when daylight was on them. Now I dont have panels connected up to it, the light/screen is off when the main power switch is off. When I had panels connected but the main power switch was off...
