    How can Current Connected improve?

This might have been mentioned but when browsing the site on mobile phone, the category drop down tab on the top left opens a list for all the categories. The Batteries category is directly over the search bar in the background. I don’t if it’s me but it’s impossible to click on batteries to...

Victron SmartShunt SOC wrong and no charged energy?

There’s been plenty of your victron related post that have helped me. I had no idea the charged voltage on the shunt was suppose to be .2v lower than ABSORPTION. I had mine set to match float at 13.8.

Air conditioner with adjustable wattage limit?

I use a danby 10k inverter A/C that is pretty adjustable. On low it uses about 250-450 watts. Medium 450-800. High 800-1200. But as said above, it really depends on what the A/C thinks it needs to do. If I turn on the unit to 70F low and it’s 95F in the room it’s going to ramp up to its full...

    Victron VRM monitoring alarm

I do. Works perfect. What device do you have set for the Cerbo to read voltage? If you go into the advanced tab and look at your battery voltage history is it getting down to the low voltage level to trigger the gen start relay 1?

Off grid incinerating toilets. Who uses one?

Their website claims 3-4 uses per hour. I’m guessing that’s to avoid overflowing the waste chamber before it all gets incinerated.

Victron Multiplus (surprisingly) couldn't handle this

Honestly, I’m ok with it. Make sense being a LF inverter. I’d rather have the high surge capacity, reliability, and low idle consumption that is still fairly impressive with victron inverters. My 2kva multiplus lives at about 50-90w 8 months out of the year with occasional surges for the Fride...

How long do you leave your system unattended?

I’ve since upgraded since my original post. 2 more SOK 206ah 12v batteries 2400w of solar 2 victron CC 150/100 and 150/45 Multiplus 2000VA Multiple fans via AC infinity that come on by schedules, temp or humidity thresholds, or by wifi control if I deem necessary. A wifi controlled portable...

Off grid incinerating toilets. Who uses one?

While my use isn’t high right now on this property, I’m planing on shipping the container that the incinerating toilet will go in to another state in the future. I’m not 100% sure if septic will be available at the new location so the incinerator toilet is sounding like a good solution to a...

Victron Multiplus (surprisingly) couldn't handle this

Mostly inductive loads. AC, fans, Fridge, microwave. I thought that was the issue so I tested with a couple different purely resistive loads like radiant heater, heat gun, electric water kettle. Same results.

Victron Multiplus (surprisingly) couldn't handle this

Yea I don’t really get it. Nothing gets more than slightly warm as far as cables and connections. It’s a Multiplus 2k so my max continuous is 1600w. So at 75% efficiency at max load I’m dumping 400w somewhere. I try not to sustain more than 1200w loads for too long being a 12v system. I do get...

Victron Multiplus (surprisingly) couldn't handle this

My multiplus is only about 75% efficient which was a big surprise from their 95% stated efficiency. When AC out reads 1000w my shunt reads about 1350w being drawn from the battery bank on the VRM.

Off grid incinerating toilets. Who uses one?

I’ve been following them for a while. I don’t think they have had it very long.

Off grid incinerating toilets. Who uses one?

Been looking at alternatives to septic and compost for my off grid spot. I currently use a bucket and coco coir as the covering in a composting bag. I’m not full time at the location so I take the bag with me and drop it off in a local dumpster on my way home. I have a urinal set up to drain...

    Multiplus overload questions

Yup. I had a similar problem as the OP where my multiplus would switch from “passthrough” to “inverting” then back to “assist” when big loads would kick in. It was mostly solved by turning the UPS function off. My guess is the multiplus saw a drop in volts coming from the generator for a split...

    Multiplus overload questions

Do you have the Dynamic Current Limiter setting clicked on the MP? This helps allow the generator respond better to large surge loads. Also, try turning off the UPS Function.

Same panels but different VOC and ISC

I didn’t mean damage from over voltage, I just wasn’t sure what happens when you have mis matched panels and how the mppt would respond to it.

Same panels but different VOC and ISC

I’m ok with a little loss I just want to make sure nothing will get damaged in the victron 150/45 I’m feeding the panels into. Thanks for the input

Same panels but different VOC and ISC

I have 5 Renogy 100w panels. 3 are as labeled below 2 are labeled as below Same panels but the later two were ordered more recently and the other 3 about a year ago. I was planing on wiring all 5 in series till I noticed the VOC and ISC is slightly different. Will this be a problem ?

    How hot is too hot?

From what I can find online it looks like 120F is where things like circuit boards and other electronic related equipment (other than batteries) starts to suffer.

    How hot is too hot?

Well the multiplus has an operating range of -40 to 140F. Seems pretty warm for operation but maybe it will all be fine for a month or so of those hot temps.

    How hot is too hot?

For electronics(inverters, mppt controllers, etc.) to start seeing negative affects…while in storage? I’m trying to set up a shipping container in so cal desert with all my solar equipment that sees summer temps of 120F. I recorded 130F in the container last summer inside the container before...

Victron cerbo functions, uses, and more. Please share!

It’s what I ended up doing too. I took my old iPad and just leave it plugged into power and keep it by the solar equipment when I’m at my off grid property. I take it with me when I leave. Works perfect!

    Good 1000w inverter (12v or 24v) ??

I have the victron 12/1200. It’s a beast and in a different category compared to the other two you listed. I honestly wouldn’t even consider the other two brands. Keep in mind you’ll want the Bluetooth dongle which is another $50.

    Two 12v inverters (1000w & 2000w) off 12v battery bank (3 12v in parallel) possible?

Yes. This is exactly how I have my system set up. 3 206ah SOK 12v batteries in parallel and then a multiplus 12/2000/80 and also a pheonix 12/1200. I also feed the output of the Pheonix into the AC in on the multiplus and then program the Pheonix to turn on when the load on the multiplus gets...

    Victron accessories to monitor system

Correct. You would just connect individually to each mppt via BT on the victron connect app to view each controllers stats and also to adjust their parameters. However, you may want to pay the additional cost to switch to a Victron shunt for its added benefits. It would allow you to link the...

    Victron accessories to monitor system

The shunt will give you a total overview of your system. Including SOC, battery voltage. Total power in and out. That mppt has Bluetooth built in and will be able to connect seperately to your phone to give you information about your solar production like how much power your panels are...

Something seems off with Victron efficiency

This just blows my mind. AC loads of 950w but discharging battery at 1250w. That’s 76% efficiency. I might need to double up on solar panels and another charge controller if I plan to run the AC through the summer. What a disappointment.

Something seems off with Victron efficiency

Which leads me to think it’s just accounting for the inefficiency of the inverter because I’m not using any DC loads other than the cerbo which only uses 3 watts. I’ve now tried multiple different appliances and the efficiency definitely seems to be around 75-85% depending on the size of the...

    Over panelling Victron 150/100

Thanks for the reply. It is PV 90C rated wire and the wire is tucked under the panels, 100% shaded and off the metal container. I’m off grid so no inspections but I would like to be safe. My other option was to pick up a 250/100 SCC with their new discounted price and 4 more panels and do two...

    Over panelling Victron 150/100

I currently have a 3s2p with 6 320 panels fed into a Victron 150/100 on a 12v system. Panel VOC is 40.1v Panel ISC is 10.36a My array is currently at 120.3v and 20.72a. I’m using 10awg cable to feed into the SCC. The panels are flat mounted on top of a shipping container. As of right now...

    Shipping Container solar AC
