Bad News on Solar Panel Shortages

There must be a better way to make these. Now all cells are made from baked Silicon ingots, that are sliced ultra-thin by some magic saw blade. Then they have to be framed and soldered manually.

    Salt Water batteries

Lets say you can use a battery of the salt water type to charge up a small amp-hour LiTO bank. Then you could suddenly use your 2kW owen or angle grinder for a limited period of time, and while you inspect the work, or serve the meal the salt water battery could anew charge up the Power dense LiTO.

Elon our uncrowned hero start buying Social Media. Why?

He would probably disagree with you on that. Anyway, Elon has been Shanghaied by Beijing too so they can replace the current source code of Twitter with the source code of Chinese Wee-chat.

Elon our uncrowned hero start buying Social Media. Why?

The Elon I know from public media is a quiet thoughtful and discrete person. You must mean somebody else.

Used in Australia for years: When will Redox Flow Solar arrive to DIY solar?

Human history is really horrifying, I agree. But in context of flow batteries vs LiFePo4, my personal vote is on what I can put my hands on in my own back yard, and that is not Lithium. I don't like what happens in Beijing or Shanghai right now. I will not finance it. Don't blame me for human...

Could you please clarify this also (I am not following the legislative PV-cell market soap opera, wherever it may have developed.)

Used in Australia for years: When will Redox Flow Solar arrive to DIY solar?

For now we are only discussing the Redflow batteries. There are at least two other companies already deploying flow batteries of different types into industrial use cases. The technology behind these upcoming initiatives may just be simple enough to DIY. in your own back yard. I wouldn't mind...

Used in Australia for years: When will Redox Flow Solar arrive to DIY solar?

Thailand have still to commit the gross atrocities that we've seen coming from China over the decades. I don't think it a bit wise to put _all_ the investments of our "green" western infra structure into the hands of those that seek to destabilize, dominate, divide, destroy and conquer.

Or you could do what this guy's doing (maybe not a flow battery, but still considerable use of a few honey jars or soda cans...)

Used in Australia for years: When will Redox Flow Solar arrive to DIY solar?

I found this video slide presentation of their current development. They are of course not working with home installations yet. We mere mortals will have to wait until the tech has been adapted towards us home brewers.

Used in Australia for years: When will Redox Flow Solar arrive to DIY solar?

Example: First Tesla cars were ridiculously expensive and unreliable. Now their price have gone down to a reasonable level reliability has improved as well . Li Fe Po Battery technology is toxic. It has to be purchased and shipped from an autocratic China, with no laws protecting customers, and...

The Company is still operating. The technology has improved. Can you prove your negative statements anyhow?

Home baked LiFePo4 Cell? Possible or not?

Hydrofluoric acid seem to be a frequent choice for "movie" poisoning and disolver of bodies, but we keep these cells loose in our basements, and garages (even apartments) without any warning signs for unsuspecting fire and rescue crews. Sounds weird. Maybe this comment taken from the above...

Home baked LiFePo4 Cell? Possible or not?

How is the LiFePo electrolyte toxic? How bad is it? Lethal? Permanently Damaging? I know many of my "High school" curiculum chemical experiments needed to have that specially designed closet plexiglass like actively chimneyed and ventilated nische.

DIY Solar forum dodging geo-political context?

I saw some Youtube home-steader set up a relatively decent pv system. There must be sunnier parts. I seem to recall warm childhood summers down in Cornwall.

Home baked LiFePo4 Cell? Possible or not?

According to an old thread, the patents are soon to expire on the LFP cell chemistry. Have anybody here tried to or heard about somebody that boldly manufactured a home made LiFePo4 Cell?

DIY Solar forum dodging geo-political context?

Outback got some really nice reviews on Youtube. However I seem to recall it's a rebranded China product. DIY means put together in your back yard. I will not invent a new way to do MPPT, and I will not invent a new way to convert DC to sinus AC. Loads of smart people have done this before me.

DIY Solar forum dodging geo-political context?

SMA solar equipment seem to be high in demand now, judging from recent news, but shipping disruptions are affecting their sales figures. So it's either Victron, or SMA? A lot of sailors choose Victron, since they seem water resistant. and water resiliant. SMA does not really seem to target...

For me the price is less important than actually receiving equipment that work for a long time, and doesn't cause global annihilation. Will that yellow box charge a 24 or a 48 volt system?
